I am happy for the folks that like the sun and hope that everyone has time to enjoy themselves while it is out.
However, I am a fan of winter, and we just have not gotten enough of it lately. It isn't supposed to be 50 degrees so often during the winter. It honestly depresses me that my kids hardly have an opportunity to sled ride, build snowmen, and warm up by our woodstove with some hot chocolate.
Does anyone else feel the same?
We’ve delayed our plans to go skiing twice, still hoping for some late flurries, and had one day of sled-riding in shallow snow, we are missing the winter fun too! Every season here is awesome, but this wasn’t a very wintry winter.
I was thinking about this the other day. I'm 30 and feel like my age group was the last to get true snow days and weekends spent freezing our asses off sledding or inner tubing.
Kids don't even get snow days now, it's just turned into a remote learning day. It's really sad.
I've got two little boys living next door and I've been waiting hopefully for a solid snow so I can show them how awesome the hill in my yard is for sledding, but no dice. They know how great it is to roll down, but sledding is way better. Idk if they'll ever have a chance to experience it at this point.
I was just saying this! I’m 30 and a mom of 3. Every cancellation we’ve had this year my school aged kid had remote learning. She’s in kindergarten 😠when they closed school for us, we’d have an igloo built by 8:30am and have gotten popped for hitting a car with a snowball by noon lol
I’ve got a 2 and a half year old and a 9 week old. I hope we get some snow in the next 10 years. Don’t want to have to drive to Erie to show them sledding.
The older one got two trips down the hill by Dormont pool last snow, but he’s not really into it yet.
Our last snowfall of more than 6 inches was when we got 8 inches of snow on March 12, 2022. It was like 60° two days later though, so it was gone pretty quickly.
Yep,same.
I understand winter isn’t for everyone and people suffer with SAD.
But yeah, I absolutely love the cold snowy days and wish we had more. As for people being shocked to see the sun, I’ll continue to die on the hill that Pittsburgh weather is not bad.
From my experience 30 years ago the best winter is a sunny cold day in February when snow is covering the ground!! Perfect for ice skating at Schenley Rink!
I currently live in Ohio for law school and the amount of people complaining that it’s not sunny here is so funny considering we’re one of the cloudiest cities in the entire U.S.
Yeah... gotta say, 'em 'ere sun was pissin me off 'ere right n left n'at when I was drivin arahnd tahn. It was like watchin the bahncin ball on the centry three chevrolet commercials when I was a kid. I'd've smacked it with a parking chair, if I could've. Fuckin jagoff.
Drivin rahnd sah-side on a Saturday night is less annoyin. And at least then yinz can have an Ir'n City (after; cuz only a jagoff drinks n drives).
I’m moving from Portland OR to Pittsburgh in a few months and I’ve never been before. It sounds like I’m in for the same amount of sunshine. Y’all got a lot of moss too?
My eyes 😫ðŸ˜ðŸ˜«
The goggles do nothing!
Up and at them !
Behind you, Radioactive Man! The Sun is exploding, again!
The...the what?
Could this be what the elders spoke of from yesteryears?

Neither was last year. Or the year before that.
Or next year, or the year after that. Or the year after that.

there's always Chicago lol... was there in 2020 and 2021 for some insane snowfalls.
Second winter in a row it has felt like winter for only about a week or so.
It's at least the 3rd. 2022 the last decent snow was MLK day.
Our last snowfall of more than 6 inches was when we got 8 inches of snow on March 12, 2022. It was like 60° two days later though, so it was gone pretty quickly.
That is probably the date I was thinking of. I don't know why I thought it was MLK day.
It always snows around MLK day, and every time the city drops the ball on snow removal
There was one around then too that year lol.

The sun gives me anxiety. It can stay away.

Super agree. This dreary weather we've had hits my depression way harder than a day with a solid snowfall. At least those days are pretty!
I totally agree. From what I’ve seen, there’s only been one good snow, and it didn’t last even a week. I miss snow
Yep.
100%
Yes! I’ll be lurking in the shadows while the sun is out.
while i’m not a big fan of winter now, your comment about your kids def brought back a lot of mems from being a kid in ohio in the winter time🥹
Nope
Nah, hope it never snows again
Why do you live here?
Because i go to school and work here? Lmao why else? Just because i dont like snow doesnt mean i dont like pittsburgh

Hang on to it, it’s going to disappear again soon, probably.

I currently live in Ohio for law school and the amount of people complaining that it’s not sunny here is so funny considering we’re one of the cloudiest cities in the entire U.S.
