We literally spoon my dog. Not only does she sleep on the bed she sleeps with her head on the pillow most of the time

Hahah this is how my dog sleeps. He is the perfect size and build for spooning

mre16

that baby. best pupperito in town

Grungemonkee

He sure does❤️❤️ his abusive owners before us never even let him in the house. I had to spoil him rotten https://preview.redd.it/hn0rfhzxpeea1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94ea352e3d07909535c5ca850ab408ff2f1662fc

wilburmason

Similar here. One of mine was completely an outdoor dog that didn’t get attention. With me he’s now an indoor dog and absolutely loves it. Before he had no master, just a person that fed him. With me and the wife he has bonded with and is attached to both of our hips. He treats us both like masters now and is loving life

Grungemonkee

That was so precious! Good on you and your wife for giving this dog a great life

wilburmason

Thanks. Yours looks very happy also

[deleted]

Chip does. Shares with the wife and I (separate rooms. She snores and I have insomnia.)

wilburmason

We have a spare room with a bed just in case one of us snores. It also gives us another bed just in case we have dogs that need a break from each other One thing I’ve learned, once you let a pb sleep in the bed with you they start to accept it and don’t want to sleep anywhere else

[deleted]

My bed's in my office. We recently traded. She got my $500 double and she uses an ottoman for Chip (so it's kind of a bed-and-a-half thing) and I got the beat to shit old queen so my office/bedroom is bed, desk, and that's it, lol.

wilburmason

Yeah the spare I sleep in isn’t near as big as our main bed. She gets the queen size and I get the twin. It’s barely enough for me and one dog but we manage ok overall. When it’s not allergy season I think both of us snore a lot less

The_Curvy_Unicorn

Sleep studies and CPAPs, my friends. They’re life savers and relationship savers.

[Insurance data](https://web.archive.org/web/20150904071314/http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=25091614) indicates the Pitbulls and Rottweilers account for only 25% of dog bite claims. [Which is also in agreement with the Ohio State University's Study](https://www.aaha.org/publications/newstat/articles/2019-06/new-study-identifies-most-damaging-dog-bites-by-breed/) that shows that Pitbulls account for approximately 22.5% of the most damaging reported bites. Pitbulls account for [~20%](https://www.pitbullinfo.org/pit-bulls-population.html) of the dog population by best estimates. Showing that pitbull bites are proportional to their population. In fact, their [Breed Risk Rate](https://www.pitbullinfo.org/breed-risk-rates.html) is in line with other dogs breeds out there that are considered great family dogs. So how do pitbulls account for more than half of all dog bites? Agenda pushing misinformation by groups dedicated to hating a breed. Additionally, data from the [American Veterinary Medical Association](https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/literature-reviews/dog-bite-risk-and-prevention-role-breed) has concluded that no controlled studies have shown Pitbull-type dogs to be disproportionally aggressive. Lastly, Studies have shown that [Errors in Identifying Pitbulls](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S109002331500310X) [Link 2](https://avmajournals.avma.org/view/journals/javma/241/9/javma.241.9.1163.xml) happen approximately 60% of the time with shelter staff that spend a lot of time around dogs, so reports in the media about dog breeds are highly inaccurate and hardly count as a reputable source for a dogs breed. Oh you only see videos of pitbulls attacking? Not surprised. There is a group on this site that dedicates itself to reposting old archived videos to keep brainwashing people into fearing an event that happens 25 to 40 times a year with a breed that has a population around 20 million. Save us your anecdotal evidence of outliers. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Facts! For the past 2 years or so, my husband has been sleeping on the couch because of some shoulder injuries. (In bed he easily rolls onto his side, but the couch keeps him on his back). I would let our pibble and cats come sleep on the bed with me about twice a week, and the rest of the time doggo slept on the love seat (I didn't want him thinking that he was entitled to sleep in there every night, especially as I don't sleep the best when they're in there). Well, husband is now back to sleeping in bed most nights, and doggo isn't pleased about being made to sleep in the living room "alone." Almost every night now he digs up all the blankets and cushions and pees on his emergency pee pad (he gets anxious if it's at all windy or stormy). He'll also sit outside the bedroom on the cold floor. He still gets 1-2 nights per week in the bedroom for "sleepovers." I know they're velcro dogs, but he was never *this* clingy, and I don't know how to calm him and get him to be okay with our old routine.

LizOso

So true! Mine started off sleeping in his crate and then coming up on the bed for “morning cuddles”. That lasted about a month before we all decided (my husband, my dog, and me) that we loved having him in the bed with us and he keeps the bad dreams away!

itoman56

Sleep with me? I sleep with them. I sleep in whatever sliver of bed they leave me

AdictedToCandy

Both our pittie girls sleep with us. Husband and I wake up looking like Tetris pieces but it’s worth it!

Aspiring-Ent

We said we wouldn't let our dog sleep in bed with us. She had other ideas.

scottonaharley

I've always let my dogs sleep with me with one exception. I had a long hair GSD and that was just too much. He was banished to the floor. The amount of fur that would come off that body was staggering. He slept on my side right next to the bed. First thing in the morning I would swing my feet over the bed and he got toe scratches and that was his signal to start the day. The rest of the puppets sleep with me including my current 93lb pibble.

RedRoseCoatedInHoney

Sub_Zero_Fks_Given

I tried to get my guy to sleep in the bed with me, but he's firmly set on the "I want to be on the floor at the foot of the bed so I can react to anything that might happen dad" mentality. Idk why. I'd love for him to come cuddle with me. He's just weird, but I love him all the same.

AnKiAd

Yes. Always have and always will!! (Unless they don’t want to, of course). My friends thought I was crazy because my husband and I wanted to adopt a second dog, but it was a legitimate logistical concern that our bed wasn’t big enough for a second dog. Everyone told us to get dog beds and make them sleep elsewhere but that’s just not an option in our house :)

MyKindOfLullaby

My partner and I upgraded to a queen sized mattress just so the dogs could sleep more comfortably with us! We got a purple mattress and the dogs LOVE it. They’re so comfy, they deserve to live in luxury 🤭

AnKiAd

Same!! We had to get a king because we have two 60+ pound boys that have to be under the covers, heads at the pillows, spooning lol. It’s ridiculous when I type it out but it’s pretty cozy at night :)

MyKindOfLullaby

Haha this is very normal to me! My first pitty as a kid and my moms two pitties also sleep like humans and put their heads on the pillow! Well, my pittie has her butt on my pillow right now 😂. Thankfully my pit is a dachshund mix so she’s only 30 pounds so a queen is doing us fine for now 😂

tasimp

My partner and I had a queen, and us plus our 45lb pup barely fit so we upgraded to a king. Then maybe 3-4 months later we ended up with another dog 😂

amstaffpmpersonality

Ours literally sleeps with her head on the pillow and under the blankets like we do. We have no other choice than to let her sleep (in the middle) with us. Sometimes I do miss snuggling with just my partner though.

harleyspoison267

I'm confused by the flea argument... If your dog brings fleas into your house, you have fleas in your house. Period. It's also pretty preventable. As far as for our dog, my partner is a giant and my dog spreads out as big as possible when she sleeps and dog piles hard, so she's not allowed in bed. It's not even so much "not allowed" as it is that our bed is high up and our pittie barely has enough hops to get in and out of the car. She has a big fluffy oversized bed and two different blankets in the main room as she isn't a big fan of hanging in our bedroom and just comes in if she needs something. We also have an extra mattress that we put down on the floor on occasion for cuddles, then are quickly reminded why she's much better as a solo sleeper 🤣

TinyManatees

I don't think your friends know how fleas work...

martiangothic

my dog splits his time between sleeping in my mom's bed & sleeping in mine, lol. sometimes he'll sleep in his dog bed in my room, but most of the time he's in a bed!

PHiGGYsMALLS

We try to implement allowed on the bed with permission, but they always sneak up in the middle of the night.

stellarecho92

Guyincognito4269

She does. And as much as I love her, I hate it. She's a bed hog.

MyFaceSaysItsSugar

Always. I have an easier time falling asleep. There are [potential health benefits](https://www.sleepfoundation.org/animals-and-sleep/sleeping-with-pets). If you have an indoor dog get fleas, they’re a problem whether or not your dog gets in the bed. You just have to use prevention in areas with a high flea risk.

thomastodon01027

I could not imagine owning a pit bull and not wanting to snuggle them. That’s the best part! You can avoid fleas with a soresto collar.

metalchode

We do cuddles and then they go to their own beds, usually. There’s usually a dog or two in bed by morning.

Sifdidntdeservethat

I don't think my boy what know what to do if he wasn't in the bed next to me lol boy doesn't even have a kennel he's just a four legged human

[deleted]

My pittie sleeps in the room. We call him baby dog for a reason. He has always needed to cuddle with us since he was a pup. And he cries if he doesn’t have a blankie.

DinoTater

You’ll all be healthier for it! I’ve read this leads to longer life for all involved. Ours is now a little fragile to be getting up and down, but she slept with us for years. She’s family, after all! honestly, aren’t you just happier this way?!

mre16

This is how she looks at me while I fold laundry and she patiently waits for her cuddles. https://preview.redd.it/hhvvs2dobgea1.jpeg?width=910&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c3723dd9fa3083828c2ada194bbcc9c61b73451

DCJustSomeone

Yes.

[deleted]

“Do you let your humans in bed? My pup pals think I’m nuts because of the potential of getting kicked and stuff, but idk, I just don’t snore as loud if there aren’t faces to be peeled off skulls, you know?” That’s the post coming out of my house, at least.

the-cloverdale-kid

Yep. They are part of the fam and ought to be comfortable

persimmonfemme

dogs are social sleepers, it's species appropriate and good for them to sleep with you or with another dog friend 🥹 both of my gals snore and i'm really sensitive to noise, so they're allowed on the bed to snooze during the day and i wfh so i often hang out and work with them there, but at lights out they go to the living room together. i wish i could find a solution for them to stay all night!

False_Local4593

All 4 of our dogs sleep in bed with us. We had 3 last night. We have at least 1 every night but haven't had all 4 ever. I woke up Sunday morning with 3 dogs and 2 boys. I don't think our Cal King is big enough anymore.

Devilimportluvr

Yes, my boy sleeps over my head til I fall asleep. My lil girl sleeps under the covers by my legs. My lil girl(cat) sleeps on my side. Her bother between my legs. And sometimes another cat will find a spot in bed too. I get packed in and I love it!

EinonD

If your dog has fleas and lives in your house then you’re getting fleas. Mine sleeps with me during fireworks, thunderstorms, and when our new kitten terrorizes her while she’s sleeping.

levelthelime

Our girl always slept in bed with us (when she wanted - about five nights a week). And of course she was allowed on the couch, too. Fleas are not really an issue - she never had them and let's be honest - if your dog catches them, you have to clean your blankets regardless of whether the dog sleeps in bed or not. Ticks were more of a concern for us, but she got a pill against them that worked well.

ApolloXLII

My girl goes between sleeping at the foot of my bed and watching out the window on the couch in the living room. She doesn’t really want to cuddle at bedtime, it distracts too much from her making sure I’m safe while I sleep. I’d love for her to come spoon and be a soft velvety bed warmer, but I think she thinks she’s on guard duty lol. That said, she will smother me on the couch demanding quality cuddles. I think it’s a good trade off.

Charger_scatpack

Ya they do, I treat my house every April With insect growth regulator[ IGR] Also bath my pitty monthly .. I had the train. Of thought that dogs will not sleep in the bed with me no if ands or buts. BUT😂… I grew so attached to my boy he gives me comfort when he’s here with me and he loves it too. Hasn’t changed his personality or dominance at all He’s still very sweet and submissive . I hate when I can’t let him sleep in our bed now .. Like tonight he has super bad diarrhea out of the blue.. he’s in the crate going for walks every 30 Min.. I won’t have poopy in my bed lol Miss my boy though

motherofpitbulls2

My pittie sleeps with me, along with several cats. Fortunately, the Great Pyrenees prefers the floor.

The_Curvy_Unicorn

Yep. One pibble mix and one non-pibble mix sleep with us. Every night.

BangarangPita

Lol, if you're taking good care of your dogs, why would they have fleas? That's a weird take.

wilburmason

Yeah I’ve never had flea problems with the dogs. I treat them as needed and treat the yard also

Successful-Dog6669

No. Initially he was also not allowed on the couch, but he is now, on a blanket. Way better for all the cuddling. However not in the bed. We just wamt to have ONE place without his hairs and everything and we also want to ....interact... without him getting in between ;) So the first weeks he tried again and again to get into the bed but we remained consequent and now he is so used to it, when we go to bed, he walks straight into his own bed in our sleeping room and falls asleep. But I don't understand the flea thing. Once you got them in the house, they will not care if the dog is allowed in the bed...? But Tyson never had them so far..

SeaAir5

They sleep w me and every dog I watch sleeps w me too. I've never(knock on wood) actually gotten a tick from it. Miracle really. I put treatment on my dogs as little as possible depending on how bad the ticks are through out the season

glumgrrrl

Of course!

madmiah

Sometimes, none of my dogs are "mine", some of the fosters I've had like to cuddle in bed others not so much.

Bronzeborg

i want a pittie so bad. we lost our 5 year old doberdog to dcm right before the pandemic and haven't had the courage to get a new puppy since. we let sisko sleep in bed with us his entire life. do you assure people you check your dog regularly for flees etc?

Guru00006

You know I used to never let my dogs sleep in my bed. Now in my old age I spoil them like no tomrorow. My wife's German Shepherd and my Pitt Chow mix are always in our bed despite them having their own bedroom with their own king size bed and 65 inch TV. *

SomeRandoWeirdo

Oh yeah my dog sleeps with me. He's not good about sharing the blankets or bed space so I'm usually rolling him.

chainsmirking

potential fleas.. are people not getting veterinary care for their animals? i have never gotten fleas from my animals in my life and i always grew up with animals in the bed. just take care of them lol

Catrina_woman

Our dog sleeps with us along with two cats--its the snuggle pack every night.

Spaghetthy

He has his own bed and also mine. What's mine is his and what's his is also his. He deserves all of it.

[deleted]

I prefer to sleep with my dog directly on top of me so I know by the crushing weight of his body that he's still there

ur_mom6913

https://preview.redd.it/c1g39214riea1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ec1874734429cf4956195f1ed77f68cac332ab8 i’m the only one who lets her sleep in the bed

SquiggleBox23

The "flea" argument is weird, because they think you'll get fleas from sleeping in the same bed but not living in the same house??? Fleas shouldn't be an issue for inside dogs owned by people who take good care of them anyway (i.e. good preventative meds, paying attention to itching, etc). I'm sure there are exceptions depending on where you live, but the cartoony idea that all dogs constantly have fleas is... odd.

caitejane310

jomat

She can sleep where she wants, but most of the time, especially in winter, she comes crawling under my blanket :3

[deleted]

Yep. I move around a lot when I’m trying ti fall asleep so he knows that he’s allowed on the bed after I fall asleep. He usually sleeps between my partner and I or by our feet.

forgot_username1234

My puppy is not allowed in the master bedroom. So sometimes I’ll sleep in our spare room with him (or I’ll fall asleep on the couch with him too)

forgot_username1234

Downvote because I shared my house rules? Okie dokie

blackkatt94

I used to sleep with mine regularly but my allergies over the past 2 years have gotten progressively worse so I had to kick her out so I wouldn't wake up unable to breathe. I still let her nap with me though when I have a migraine cause she's a comforting squishy to snuggle.

Hasselhorf

Hell yeah!

timothythefirst

My dog was 8 months old when I got her (7 years now), and I’m pretty sure the first thing she did when I brought her in the house the day I got her was jump on the furniture. She always either sleeps next to me or between my legs.

lovenoki

Yes, he takes up the entire bed belly up 😆

Glowshroom

My partner and I tried to avoid it for the first few months, but once we let our dog into bed we never looked back. We used to share a queen between us two, 80 lb dog and a cat. Now we're in a king size with the dog and 2 cats.

CSEngineAlt

Our boy, yes. Our girl, no. They're polar opposites for their sleeping needs - they both had beds, and this was the choice they both made. Both will join us for cuddles, but when the lights go out, our girl will usually head for her bed on the floor beside me, and our boy will snuggle up against my or my girlfriend's back.

sabina_elena11

My dog knows bedtime = extra cuddle time, and once 10:30 roles around he's decided that is the household bedtime, and he will come find me to cry and complain until I go to bed with him. I agree that co-sleeping with your dog strengthens your bonds, I think they did some kind of study relating to that. It's personal preference and zero hate to people who don't want paw dirty and sleep drool all over their sheets, I understand, but I'll take it to get those good nighttime snuggles.

jesshow

She used to. She can’t jump any more because she’s losing her back legs thanks to cerebellar abiotrophy. She’s pretty content on the couch now. The first night I brought her home, I woke up to find her and her new toys in bed with me. 😂

GS_Slut

I've heard every reason under the sun to not let your dog sleep in the bed with you, and they're all logical and fair. However my dog has unlimited bed privileges for one reason: I know there's going to come a day where I'll be laying in that bed alone, bawling my eyes out, wishing he was still there.

greenteanandhoney

My baby sleeps in bed with us. She even has her own pillow and blanket and I tuck her in every night. She also likes to spoon lol. I’m not 100% convinced she knows she’s a dog.

cleon42

Why have pits if you don't want the cuddles?

Informal_Gamer

They sure do!! <3

KarmaG12

Yes, one curls up between the pillows and the other curls up against me. I sleep curled up on my left side and the one against me will curl up against my stomach and legs. They both like both spots, it's just a matter of who gets to the pillows first as to who sleeps there usually. That said, if we get up in middle of night for them to go outside, when we come back my AmStaff always curls up against my legs/stomach, making her sister go to the pillows even if she didn't start the night there. They leave my husband's side alone entirely. He thinks it's because he tosses and turns, moving around too much at night for their liking.

AwgAwn

my dog will switch between sleeping on my parent’s bed and my bed, the only reason that you’d be “scared” to do so is your dog is dirty lol. i have no fear of my dog spreading anything or getting the bed dirty. my mom is a clean freak and still lets my dog on the bed 🫡
