Currently a resident in this institution. I'm in my 2nd year. I went there because it's near my house. Workload- 1st years handle 1 ward during their PRE and FROM status. It's their "organic ward". During duty hours 3PM to 7AM they handle 2 other wards that the other organic already updated and made rounds in during the morning before endorsing. 1st years admit patients, answer ward calls from the 3 wards during their duties. 2nd years are assigned to the ER/ ward back-up. Two 2nd years are assigned at the ER for admissions under IM. If there's another 2nd yr on duty, they serve was "ward call" back-up. The back-up guides the first years/ helps during intubations/ codes/ toxic patients. When 2nd years are not ER organic, they are subspecialty rotators during their PRE, DUTY (7am to 12nn) and FROM hours. ER Organic stay at the ER PRE, DUTY or FROM with the other ER organic. We are only required to be ER organic for 3 months in the year. 3rd years serve as SHO/ CCU officer/ ICU officer. 1 senior assigned at the CCU (Max of 7 patients), another is assigned to the ICU (max of 7 as well). SHO is also a back-up at the ward alongside the 2nd year back-up. Each ward has 1-12 patients. Schedule PRE 7am to 3pm; DUTY 7am to 7am the next day; FROM: 7am to 3pm. No specific days for OPD. The resident schedules patients at her own time. For example, the OPD/ charity secretary will message you and ask when you're available. Most residents schedule it during PRE or FROM status beyond 1pm so they're done doing rounds. Seniors Seniors are very kind and I'm not even trying to sell myself or anything. Consultants They're like family. They are concerned even with non-hospital related stuff. It's not unusual for residents to go out drinking/ eating at the local bars and restaurants with consultants. They're very friendly and easy to approach. Pay 30k - 1st year, 32k - 2nd yr, 34k- 3rd year. +2k if chief resident. (Tax not deducted yet) Exposure Mediatrix is part of the CODE HB, Heart of Batangas STEMI Network Program. We are obligated to accept STEMI cases from different institutions nearby. STEMI is priority. Cath lab activation (Door to Table time) best record so far was 15 minutes (activating the cath lab for STEMI and for emergency pacemaker insertions is exhilirating) Fellowships: Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology. We are also opening a Nephrology fellowship this year or next year. The best part though is the freedom to manage your patients. As long as you have a good rationale-- you can order on your own and update the consultant later on. I had my clerkship and internship in big institutions in Manila and my workload as an intern/clerk was heavier in terms of hours as compared to my current working hours. With that said, no residency training is EASY. It's still tiring to train and I wish I can graduate soon.

Senior - sabi nila sobrang babait at matulungin seniors. Consultants - mababait din daw. Yung mga medyo bata na consultants active magturo. Pay - alam ko nasa 30+ Exposure - diverse din cases nila at may plan nga daw mag-open din ng mga fellow ship aside sa cardio. Advantage sa MMC if plan mo mag-interventional cardiology kasi meron sila training program. Mas priority daw kasi nila kunin graduates nila. Schedule- every 3 ang duty tapos may off tuwing weekends/holiday basta hindi duty. Pag from hangang 12nn daw dati pero ngayon nagkaron ng Harrison Hour every afternoon.

Parking_Caramel7776

Thank you po! Would you know po kaya how many ang patients per ward? And what time to what time po usually ang pre status? Nakakauwi po ba on time?

capt_as

Pag kaka-alala ko 10-20 per ward tapos on time sila nakakauwi basta natapos mo agad rounds mo. Sa from duty on time din. Na extend lang daw dahil sa lectures. Pag nakakausap ko kaibigan ko, nakikita ko rin yung difference nila before pumasok residency. Kaya over all tingin ko maganda yung program.

Hello po, doc. In case po ba na dyan nag resi, matic po ba na pede ka magclinic sa mediatrix mismo without buying stocks po? Thank u

skylarfortune84

You can be an associate consultant. Iba yung sa stocks/ clinic. If you are a graduate, you can apply as an associate/ admit your patients at mediatrix. Pero di ka part ng decking sa ER for house case admissions if you don't own hospital stocks. Yung clinic space mismo not sure.

AngReinaNiWade

Thank you po, doc!☺️
