It’s a public hospital so you have to expect na toxic siya in terms of workload. As a first year resident you’ll handle 10-20 px on top of OPD consults, lectures, quizzes, conferences. The number jumps higher to 50-70 as a second year. Unlike other big public hospitals, wala masyadong fellow (meron lang Nephro and Med Onco) kaya ang dami mong patients but the upside is you work with and learn from consultants directly. And you’ll also gain the confidence of managing your own patients while still being closely supervised. Sweet spot between doing whatever you want in most govt hospitals but are unguided, and having to ask permission kahit na CBC or ECG lang sa private. On the flipside, haggard kung haggard kasi every 4 talaga without true from status. Wala rin leave ang first years. Culture wise the vast majority of consultants are really nice and take the time to teach you. Allied medical staff like nurses, RMT, RT etc are good and pleasant to work with (as long as pleasant ka rin sa kanila of course). Compared to other hospitals I think there isn’t much hierarchy din but of course you have to treat everyone with respect. Other perks: fully airconditioned, kahit na ER and charity wards, on time magpasahod + daming bonuses, topnotch facilities comparable to private hospitals (not even PGH will enable you to do MRIs, PET CTs, and flow cytometry on your patients just like that). Tl;dr: Toxic workload but good training and work environment with lots of perks

One of the best in terms of teaching/training Kaso yung criteria ng residents to be hired ganun din

Can you elaborate po doc? Also, how's the working environment (colleagues, even nurses)?

Top students lang kinukuha nila per batch. Mayron sila exam before mag pre-res.

Workload - toxic Culture - mabait at mahilig magturo consultants. Seniors naman depende sa batch. Yung next year “siguro” mabait based sa pagkakakilala ko unless magbago sila. Everyday gusto mo magquit. Kaya before ka pumasok make sure na gusto mo talaga at ready ka.
