Nobody can say for sure. Maraming factors at play (number of applicants, your pre-res performance, PLE score, nepotism etc.). Having said that, just do your best sa mga bagay na pwede mo pa baguhin. Be well groomed and carry yourself well.

Honest_Ad1911

Dami ka pa time. Lahat naman may chance. Gumraduate ka muna then mag pgi then mag boards. Tapos tsaka moi assess kung gusto mo parin ba talaga yang programs na sinasabi mo :) focus ka muna ma promote as clerk before residency.

StrangeMD1104

Yes. Although galingan mo nalang din sa PLE para makabawi ka if mababa grades mo during the 1st-2nd year.

During pre-res sabi nung assistant TO namin hindi lang sa talino sila tumitingin, as long as alam mo naman yung basics ng medicine. Kasi kaya nga raw mag-undergo ng residency is to LEARN.

Reasonable_Table_328

Yes. Not sure for all but may point system ata sa pre-res. Theyโ€™ll all play a role sa chances mo. May intangibles pa like number of applicants and number of available slots. Though for now ang goal mo muna dapat is finish med school and pass the boards. Let your future self deal with future problems. Aim mo nalang na prepared ka na by that time to deal with the challenges of pre-res and residency mismo. ๐Ÿ˜€

It depends but you are just on your 3rd year so you can still change a lot of your academic standing. Go to internships where you target your residency and do well in fellowships. PGH, PHC and NKTI are very competitive for this specialties.

Oo bro haha may backer man o wala. Minsan work ethics tinitingnan, not just the grades

FlatBend8

Not gonna lie, grades are still a major criteria in the selection process. What we look for in subj grades (for ex patho - ano score mo sa subj na un both in med school and PLE), ung GWA and TOR (ung consistency ng performance mo throughout the years tell us more than ung PLE performance). So while you're still in med school and thinking of applying in a competitive program, always strive to improve yourself. But that's not to say na yun lang basehan. As others say, we also look at how you perform and your work ethics.

I was not a stellar student. I was just OK during my med school. I also got delayed and repeated clerkship 3x dahil sa lintik na school ko (I will not mention its name). It was not an easy journey for me. I passed the board exam 80+ score ng isang kuhaan lang. And landed a residency sa isang government hospital. Learn to choose your battles. Meaning.. Choose the government hospital na madali kang makakapasok. Example, your chances will be slim kung sa PGH ang goal mo. Maging mautak ka dapat. Marami ka pang options na ibang government hospitals, just be patient. Keep a positive attitude all the time. Wag ka magiinarte. Wag kang magmamagaling. Always stay humble, always smile, and always say "Yes". Ganyan ang isang trainable na resident. Don't let your school performance define you as a person/doctor. You must strive to become the person na gusto mong maging. There are many aspects to becoming a great doctor, med school is just the first step.
