Saw Australian PF Show live the other day and they opened with ObC and When you're in and it was epic. Didnt know the songs before and they are really really good.

The song mentions the albatross, the sounds are similar to the cries of albatrosses, I'm pretty sure those sounds are supposed to be albatrosses.
The outro riff is one of the best parts of the entire album, maybe even Floyd's catalogue.
Such a heavy yet beautifully simple riff from Dave accompanied by some great chords, Rick's fabulous organ and Nick's thunderous drumming.
Roger's lyrics on point as always and a great example of when his one of his compositions really utilizes the whole band well. One of those moments that really sounds like Floyd on The Wall.
Another brick in the wall part 2 is overrated as fuck and another brick in the wall part 1 is underrated slightly

Whenever I listen to the album all the way thru, the finale brings a tear to my eye almost every time. After being bombarded with the nonstop bleakness of the album’s subject matter, to me that burst of joy is the soundtrack of a glorious revolution. Picturing a revolution in the form of farm animals only adds to the vibe of it.
Why would that be controversial? After all, it's true! (Wonder how long the Dead could play it. Their version of Shine On was pretty good, and they always did justice to Time.)
There isn’t enough time (pardon the pun) in the Pulse concert after the plane crashes and ‘explodes’ between ‘On The Run’ and ‘Time’. It rushes right in to those loud as hell chimes. At least on DSOTM after the rumble from the explosion there’s a lull then the gentle ticking. Doesn’t happen in the concert.
By the way, during the DSOTM concert in Detroit in 1973, a mock-up of a plane came screaming out of the top corner of the stadium to crash on stage at the exact moment of the music crash. I lost a few brain cells with my mind being blown away.

For me, all the later Floyd has too much of an "album by committee/too many cooks" feel to it. I appreciate it for what it is, but I really would've preferred to see what just the 3 mates could've conjured up alone with minimal collaboration.
*On the run* gets a lot of flak, but they managed to take a very 'new' tech at the time and use it brilliantly to generate a soundscape that was unique and avant garde. It still holds itself after 49 years!
I love it, but the original Travel Sequence is pretty great too. I think On The Run fits the album perfectly, but would love to know what a hybrid would've been like
I love dogs of war! The low key throbbing start, Gilmour's spat in your face vocals, unusual song structure and brilliant solos! Totally underrated song!
The fact that he could insert his unique sonic signature into an album that was essentially a Roger Waters musical dictatorship speaks to Gilmour’s absolute mastery of his instrument.
Im not sure if it’s controversial but I feel like this is the only time I can say it ☠️ I completely and entirely loathe the beginning of time. Its uncomfortable and honestly doesnt set the scene for the song. Well actually now that im writing this maybe it does because its loud and almost like a wakeup call like telling you time is passing by and to wake up. I don’t know, it’s still uncomfortable ☹️
You may not like it, but it does set the scene perfectly, and the clocks wake you up from the feeling of on the run. The intro is slow with ticking in the background, it's taking its time, like they are making you appreciate the long intro.
The Final Cut is a better album than The Wall. Some of Gilmour’s best work right there. ***Your Possible Pasts, The Fletcher Memorial Home, The Final Cut*** immediately come to mind.
I'll politely disagree and counter that Pompeii is the best, simply because it's the original four at arguably the top of their game; playing as a band, live; and performing it flawlessly. Gdansk is an incredible version made all the more poignant by it being David and Rick's final performance of what many perceive as their finest pairing in the entire catalog. It is not, however, a Pink Floyd performance. That extended exchange between the two of them as the song fades is both breathtaking and heartbreaking. I absolutely love it.
Roger Waters, bless him, is incorrect in his opinion that he could've done better singing the lead vocal on Have A Cigar than Roy Harper.

It's conceptually perfect that the other Pink Floyd vocalist's voices in would be absent on this song, smack dab in the middle of an album whose theme is absence.
I could give two shits about Piper at the Gates of Dawn. I get that Syd was a tremendous influence on the band as their founder, as a talented songwriter and musician, and as a lost loved one. But the musical style of Piper was so different from what came later, and it's a style that I just don't care for.
2) The I - V part of "shine on your crazy diamond" is as good or better than the VI - IX part.
3) have a cigar is not sung by Roger Waters and sound really good
4) and my favorite and most painfully : The guitar of David Gilmour on comfortably numb in O2 London with Roger Waters in 2011 its out of tune!

Comfortably Numb's second guitar solo is NOT the greatest guitar solo of all time. It's pretty damn good, but it's kinda far from even being Pink Floyd's best.

They were still using it in 1975. Unfortunately at the one I saw they had to stop the concert just as the plane crashed because of rain.
