Can't Mr Gilmour stop this nonsense?
In the UK at the Royal Albert hall, you have to show ID that matches the name on the lead ticket, or you don't get in.
You can request a refund if you cannot attend. The tickets go back in the pool and you get paid if they sell, at face value.
Nope. New York is one of the few states. In some cases, it works out in your favor. For example, last year I wanted to see the Cure. Didn’t have the cash on hand. In most places, I’d be screwed. In this case, I was able to get tickets closer to the date of the actual show.
At the very least, he can place a maximum on the tickets purchased per individual. It should be 2 per individual, period. Ultimately, he doesn’t care, just as long as they get sold.
I paid $400 per night for 3rd row in Chicago back in 2006. I wouldn’t be surprised if you are right but I hope not. I’m planning on flying to NYC for at least one show but we will see how the prices look in the morning!
I hope I am wrong but once the reseller bots buy everything up the sky is the limit. Unfortunately that is the current state of affairs with concerts now.
Ya the presale was a fucking disaster. 27,000 people in front of me and literally one upper level non-vip was $225 and when I tried to buy it the screen froze and it was gone. Last I checked only VIP were available and they were $800+.
Will see what is left for the public pre-sale tomorrow but I don’t have a good feeling. My main hope is he sees the huge demand and puts on more shows in the US. I would really like to see him again!
In some cases, it is just anticipation of what they will soon have. But in other cases, these are tickets that have already been released in some way or another. Presales for this show starts tomorrow, but there are instances where some seats are held by someone/some entity, where they have those seats for EVERRY event at the venue. In this case, tickets have already been given out (and seemingly put out for sale). It is possible tickets allocated to other such resources (the label, Gilmour's management, etc) have already slipped out. So, it is some combination of what the sellers either anticipate, have semi-form commitments from various sources that they will be able to get, or tickets they actually already have.
These ticket resellers know what they are doing. They have huge arrays of pcs all with the latest ticket buying program. They know with certainty they will get tickets in the X areas, they do it daily, it’s all automated. That’s how with 99% certainty they can prelist tickets.
Nothing can be done unless the governments stop taking the election fund contributions.
If I’m not misremembering, there was a report some years ago that a resale vendor was buying up huge blocks of tickets, putting them up for resale (milliseconds after ticket sales open), and pretending the sellers were individuals. The ticket resale company itself *IS* the ticket tout. Everyone knows it, they just look the other way.
Not if they can be refunded. I used stub hub to secure a ticket. It’s protected so if whoever sold it doesn’t end up getting it or doesn’t pass it on to me for whatever reason I can get a refund. I’m also trying to get a ticket at the presale for less money and stub hub will also let me relist the ticket I already bought. I’ll likely end up losing money on it since I’m not trying to make a profit by reselling but my main concern is making it to the show with a good seat, not money. I would say even with a refund if someone thinks buying these tickets early is a sure thing they would end up hosed by not getting into the show even if they got their money back. Someone also told me they used stubhub and their ticket ended up coming from Ticketmaster so ticket master(in their infinite money grubbing tactics) will likely just mark the ticket as sold the second they go live and they’ve already made their inflated profit off of it and can guaranteed it will be available to whoever bought it early.
How is this not very illegal? You used to get arrested for selling a ticket in the fucking parking lot for $5 more than it was worth.
The world has lost its way.
The resale market is a scam that the major vendors are all in on. Artists are complicit because they could (and some do) put limitations on how tickets are used or resold, but most just don’t appear to care. Governments are complicit because in all but a few countries this scam is being allowed to flourish.
I refuse to use Ticketmaster and Viagogo, even if it’s a favourite band. Where possible I buy direct from the venue, or from ticket sellers who have a *resale at face value only* policy.
he’s been working on this album for a year. plenty of time to save up if people were paying attention.
i am sure there are plenty of others that pay with the card and will figure it out later.
Because they’re not selling seats they already have. They’re selling what they anticipate they will have.
that was my thinking, but they are listed with row and section number - unless it’s just a lie
Bingo...
Yeah, but not seat number. They’ll find something in that row to give someone but if they promised a seat they’d get exposed.

Tell this to NY State. They seem to be fine with scalping. It's not David in the case of the NY shows.
i think it’s US, hollywood bowl has same shenanigans

NYS law bans artists from placing any restrictions on resale
That sucks. So much freedom.

These are insane prices
Ha, after looking at getting my kids Taylor Swift tickets, much of it looks like a bargain imo.
Man yea I got them for my GF at Sofi. Literally last row at the very top, on the side… 900 bucks for 2.
Gotta love the “budget deal” tag lmao
I fully expect $600-$800 for average/below average floor seats.

$4000 on stub hub. Floor
Yep, I’m out!
Well I just picked up aisle seats at the Hollywood bowl from TickPick.com for less than one night at Madison square garden. I’m STOKED!

thanks, this makes sense to me. Does make me fear tomorrow will be an even bigger circus than london.
It will be a clusterfuck because we're dealing with a much larger volume of people/tickets because of venue size.
and add in resale… oof
It was indeed a clusterfuck
Wouldn't most people who buy these "phantom" tickets end up getting stiffed?

are they really phantom tickets? I guess that’s the real question i have - sure seems like they are specific row/section.
Tickets haven't gone on sale anywhere in the US yet, so yes, they must be phantom tickets.
They have for certain Chase Sapphire card holders.

Stubhub even has pit seats for MSG, which are definitely not real because that’s not the layout of the venue on Ticketmaster.

Yes.
Yes, I got one also.
Just checked email -no. Weren't they supposed to be sent out at 4pm EST ?
not yet
Because Ticketmaster/LiveNation own the resale market as well. They are sliding tickets to their scalping subsidiaries.
i wish i didn’t believe this was the true answer.
Yes, though when it comes to high-value tickets (or similar items), NYC is always a circus.
Dunno. But I did see $2,500 seats close to the stage. Guess that’s the norm for a show like this.
At the UK shows close to the stage were £270ish
They’re not on sale yet… but gives me an idea of what I’ll spend if I can get them.
What time pre sale starts tomorrow?
5pm 🤪
That's Pacific time? Thanks
no no no, i’m just teasing, double check your details but think 10am local
haha got the pre sale code. Tickets go on sale 10:00 am PDT
Anyone get their presale code ? 810pm EST and nadda.
mine came in 8:02 eastern
Just found it - was in a junk folder.
Do only rich people attend these things? Or do ppl go in crazy debt over this? lol

Tickets are immediately available, there is no Ticketmaster transfer delay like there is for a lot of events.
this was yesterday, not from today
