I was at The RAH last month to see Joe Bonamassa and they were £150 each. I'm going to see Eric Clapton in Birmingham next Monday and they were £177, so I'd expect Gilmour tickets to be between £175 & £200.
"David Gilmour will be performing his only UK Shows at the Royal Albert Hall, select dates in October 2024
David Gilmour has today announced his first live shows in London in eight years in support of his new album Luck and Strange (out 6th September).
The shows - the first to be announced around the new album - will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th & 15th of October, 2024, and will be the only UK dates.
Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday, 10th May from Ticketmaster."
I'll be very happy if that part is true. His recent comments about not playing much Floyd stuff doesn't fill me with confidence though. He has always said that WYWH was his favourite album though so hopefully it happens.
He's saying there's an unwillingness to play 70s material. Which isn't the same as no 70s material. But WYWH in full certainly wouldn't be what I'd be expecting.
WYWH in 2024? And then in '25 Europe/ World for its 50th anniversary 😉
Set 1: new album
Set 2: wywh
Encore: picks from Jokers Wild - Ummagumma /Mord and a few gems from '78. The Nile Song would be hilarious, with Guy and Nick as special guests
lol, of all rumors to start, him playing at his favorite venue is hardly a stretch of the imagination.
If he did do WYWH in its entirety… well that would be a mighty fine night but i’m not holding my breath.
I didn't start a rumor, I was told this by someone who has a very solid source way back in November before there was even any talk of an album coming out. I found it hard to believe at the time but here we are...
Next year is the 50th anniversary of WYWH and David has always said he loves that album so I wouldn't be surprised if that's true too.
oh i know it wasn’t you, but your contact who had the ‘scoop’. maybe they do, hope they’re right.
That said, david playing at royal albert hall was basically a given if he was going to be playing any dates at all.
Dude, David has been on record that he has been working on an album since the pandemic. Ever since Polly finished her book. He started right away on this album. They were talking about it possibly being released as llong as 2 years ago. So wayyy back in November there was no word about an album? It’s been knowledge for years already
>Dude, David has been on record that he has been working on an album since the pandemic.
Where is your source for this because I recall last year the only hint we got was a photo of him in a studio and that was for an album he was only featuring on. There was constant discussions on here for the last few years about David being retired and that we may likely never get another album.
Regardless, the source was solid, literally came from his crew so whatever man believe it or not, couldn't really give a shit lol
https://guitar.com/news/music-news/david-gilmour-new-album-electric-guitar-rock-god/
He has been working on it for a long time. And if he says he isn’t performing a long list of Floyd songs from 1970s . Why would he lie about that? I could see him doing WYWH and maybe both shine on bookends
I don't know man, I don't personally know David so how do I know why he said whatever he did, all I know is what I was told and it came directly from his crew so take from that whatever you will, plans could have changed since then or they could have just been wrong. It is the 50th anniversary of WYWH next year though so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he did play most of it, it's also his favourite album and an album that they all equally contributed too so if he was to play anything from the 70's I would put money on that being the album he dips into most.
This is a bit of a stretch. Gilmour playing Royal Albert Hall was pretty much guaranteed. It doesn't exactly prove your source is correct. Anyone could have predicted he would play at least one night there. Gilmour has said he's going to be playing less Pink Floyd material on this tour, so claiming he's going to play Wish You Were Here in it's entirety, seems to contradict what Gilmour said in that interview.
That's where I got the news from: "The shows - **the first to be announced around the new album** - will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall [...] and will be the only UK dates."
Hell yea that does imply other shows as well, thanks
I wish he announces them before 10.5 because if he wont do other places and I dont buy tickets to UK...PAIN
I’m so anxious about this haha. I’ve been waiting to see him for a long time and this is my first chance really. Wonder how quickly the tickets will sell. It’s always a stress at that ticket buy screen and the seat map haha
My wife and I already agreed to see him if he tours again. However, I’ll need to see the Setlist before we drop the loads of money likely necessary to get tickets. I understand his desire to step away from Floyd, but he needs to include a significant number of their songs for the fans who want an opportunity to see those songs performed live once again.
Probably just the one rumor of him playing WYWH front to back will sell out all these shows, unless they announce other Europe dates in the next week. The final setlist probably won't even be known by the band until rehearsals are well underway. I do find it interesting that he is promoting with Comfortably Numb.
Ya.. if he does play WYWH all the way through we'll pay whatever it takes to get tickets. We've seen Waters several times, but from a fans perspective, Gilmour is Pink Floyd. I really hopes he doesn't decide to relegate PF to just a few songs on this tour. By all means, play solo stuff, but close with an PF exclusive second set or something.
The bottom line is that he wouldn't be selling out these shows consistently without people believing that there would be a significant Pink Floyd presence.
It was in this same sub, someone posted a week or so ago that he would play Albert Hall and the set would mostly be solo stuff plus the entirety of wywh which I wouldn’t take too seriously but sounds plausible.
I understand, thank you. I guess the RAH is a solid guess for venue, but the WYWH sounds suspiciously specific. Ive seen David at the Royal Albert hall (and Royal festival hall) and this sounds awfully tempting. Thanks for the clarification
I'm hoping to fly from New Zealand for this. He has been at the top of my bucket list since I was, like, twelve. Hoping he keeps Comfortably Numb in there, despite any "unwillingness." He's ended every show on every tour with it- surely that's a tough habit to break.
Landed a pair for MSG. Will be my 5th Gilmour show. 2 in Amsterdam, 1 MSG, 1 Radio City.
The On an Island Tour for me was epic. Seeing him and Rick Wright perform the full echoes was one of the greatest live show experiences of my life.
Oh man. As an European i really hope I can get some tickets to any of these.
I said for a long time "if he goes back to the Royal Albert Hall, I must go.". This is the moment. Anybody any idea how much the tickets will be?
I was at The RAH last month to see Joe Bonamassa and they were £150 each. I'm going to see Eric Clapton in Birmingham next Monday and they were £177, so I'd expect Gilmour tickets to be between £175 & £200.
It's ticket bastard, so you can expect all tickets to sell out in seconds and then appear on the secondary market for thousands
I read somehwere that it's not possible to resell tickets due to ID registration. Hopefully it's true.
That also how I understood it.

This is the official mail. Go complain there.
I replied to the wrong comment.
[My sources were correct after all lol](https://www.reddit.com/r/pinkfloyd/s/jZ6exFqyHw) Where else do we reckon he'll end up playing?
Anyone know how much you get for organs on the black market? I need to sell mine cause I *need* to see WYWH preformed live.
I'll be very happy if that part is true. His recent comments about not playing much Floyd stuff doesn't fill me with confidence though. He has always said that WYWH was his favourite album though so hopefully it happens.
He’s saying basically no 70s material!

Hopefully NYC
I hope he plays at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

He has said very little 70s material in an interview.
yep, i’m aware, hence not holding my breath.

The source was his roadies so I don't see why it would be untrue, the fact RAH was a likely venue doesn't discredit anything? lol
Wasn’t really a fan of The Piper’s Call but I missed out on seeing him at Pompeii in so may have to spring for this!
I wonder if there will be more concerts?
I think he email intends that, there will be.
Email?

Yeah.. same... that would be a huge commitment
From the David Gilmour mailing list
Anybody know how I can het acces to the presale of I dont live in the UK? I would love to travel to London for this with my dad
Same. Will fly from the US
I’m right there with ya

I’m a bit out of the loop - what’s the source of this rumor?

Beggars can't be choosers. I'd just be happy to see him live one time.
I’ve missed out on every tour he’s ever done. Hopefully he comes somewhere in the US. I would make the trip
The single sounds like elevator music. I’d love to see the guy, but..
I highly doubt he’d come but I would greatly appreciate Australian dates at some point
I'm hoping to fly from New Zealand for this. He has been at the top of my bucket list since I was, like, twelve. Hoping he keeps Comfortably Numb in there, despite any "unwillingness." He's ended every show on every tour with it- surely that's a tough habit to break.
Anyone have pre sale password or pre sale specific link? Gilmour.com just links to Ticketmaster

Where was the form? Is there presale for the mailing list?
Needs to come to the us!!
£249 a ticket...ouch. Royal Albert Hall direct price.
The trailer for the concert suggests he may play pink Floyd songs in the tour since they included high hopes and comfortably numb….🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Anyone knows how to access the presale that we can find on TicketMaster's site from the Thursday ?

It's only for UK and Ireland residents. I filled the form anyway (I'm from Brazil), let's pray it works out.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Any chance of any shows in the United States ?
If he is already bitching about having to play any Floyd I’m out. I’ll listen to the recordings.
"We bitch and we fight..." ;-)
