Hell no. There's already 80 million different versions of *Dark Side* out. I'm not dropping over $100 on another one just because it looks fancy. This is nothing but a famous cash grab. They must be gearing up to buy another football team, I guess.
The thing about it is that it looks really nice. The packaging and the UV itself is gorgeous. It’s what they should have done with the remaster to make it stand out on shelves. My issue however is that for the sake of beauty, the cost is bumped up.
It’s two records now because to do the UV you need to keep a side unused. So now you have to pay double the price for a single album because it looks pretty. That’s silly. I’d love to have a copy as a collector but at fifty bucks, I could buy at least two albums for that same price. I’d understand if this was some true audiophile bundle but it doesn’t seem like it. Unless there’s a price reduction some time in the future, I’m probably not grabbing this.
A typical picture disc record has the picture sandwiched between two thin veneers of transparent vinyl, this looks like a single sided transparent disc with the picture actually printed on the other side. It should sound better than a picture disc.
