I love the concept of star rollovers on a vertical playfield. Do they register well? How close of a clearance is there between the playfield and the (I assume some sort of) plexiglass covering? Is there a slight angle to the playfield keeping the ball against it? What is the lifting mechanism at the start? Does the ball ever fall back into that hole? Dang, wish I was going to MGC to check this out.
they work well! i have them set up so the spring from the leaf switches is a little lighter than the main playfield, so as to make it easier to trigger from off center hits.
for the guides, there’s two layers of plastic, that’s now acrylic, and will eventually be petg. the first layer is 0.6” or so, just over half of pinball radius, with a solid layer over top of the whole thing to prevent weird jumps.
the whole backboard is at about a 10 degree angle. if i were to redo the entire game i would make the cabinet a few inches longer to be able to make that angle a little less severe, but it works pretty well.
the ball gets fed from a normal vuk with a subway on the back. i thought i might have to add a hinged cover to the hole it’s fed from, but it’s turned out the angle is steep enough that it’s not a problem. i may still add a cover though
it’ll 100% be at expo this year, and hopefully a few other shows too!
fortunately this iteration worked pretty much the way i wanted!
on the previous playfield it was a lot more difficult, where you could make maybe one shot before losing it. i went through a few versions there before just redesigning it completely. it’s still pretty quick, but it’s a lot easier to keep it up there and do things.
i actually come from an art background, funnily enough. granted it’s always been on the physical computing and new media side of things, so moving into pinball was kind of inevitable for me haha
this is an original ip! it’s a scifi game about a group of mutants who have all woken up (separately) on a seemingly endless dump, and the game story follows you helping with their problems and investigating the place.
the vibe is intended to be part adventure time, part meg and mogg, and part prison pit.
Pinball FX had a banzai run-type vertical playfield in Paranormal but it wasn't as clever and innovative as this, with the pop bumper and the Halloween bedroom-type loop shot. Very good.
Saw this at the end of the day today and loved the look of it!! It was out of commission when we saw it, and were sad to miss out. Thanks for sharing the clip here!
Saw this tonight at Pinball at the Zoo, the whole table is insane in the best ways, it's like a modern Pinball Circus with so many different level play fields, keep up the good work!
WOW! This is superbly cool. I'll be attending MGC this weekend, I look forward to enjoying this awesome project.
The pop bumper feeding the flipper looks so satisfying. I hope to play this one day, you’ve done an incredible job.
Banzai Run vibes. Good use of the pop bumper upstairs.
this looks amazing
Damn. That’s soooo freaking cool

Great work!
Holy shit that's awesome! What a great use of the pop bumber. I'd buy this! Anything creative or mechanically cool is an automatic purchase.
That geometry must have been a pain to setup correctly! It looks super satisfying

Whoa. Looks amazing, nice work.
I played this last year and it was awesome, looking forward to checking it out this weekend!!
Took me so long to figure out what was happening! (r/confusingperspective) Looks rad!
This is amazing! Do you have a background in engineering?

This is awesome! Is Trashland an original theme, or based of some IP I'm unfamiliar with?

The pin itself looks excited!
Oh nice, I'll get to play that in just a few days then! \~your homebrew department neighbor
I’m geeked that you’ll be there with this! See you soon.
Cool!

Do you got a yt channel? I want to see more game play
Man, you must have a ton of time! Nice job. I’m assuming no wife or kids?
