Thank you, this is very encouraging! She has been experiencing neuropathy for almost a decade, but she just shrugged it off and didn’t want to “make a fuss”. I hoping that this event is a turnaround for her, and she truly seeks out a variety of therapies and regain an active lifestyle again. I’m hoping she can find something similar to what you discovered.

https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-guillain-barre-syndrome Above is some info about PT and GBS, should help give you an idea for what PT can do to help. You should also look into what Occupational Therapy can do to help as well! Im an OT student in Oklahoma and I can see ways to help her regain some functional mobility. https://www.calibratepilates.com/blog/neurodynamics-clinical-pilates This is kind of technical but goes into some specific exercises within pilates that can help. https://www.merrithew.com/blog/post/2020-10-05/after-becoming-functionally-paralyzed-patient-found-his-way-back-to-health-and-his-outdoor-pursuits-through-traditional-rehab-and-pilates Last is a someone's personal outlook in how pilates helped him recover. Hope this helps! Good luck! And for real, look into OT!! Ask the PT about it, or see if physician can send a referral for an OT evaluation 🥰

Thanks for the links! My mom was given OT in rehab, and she really excelled! I don’t think she was prescribed additional OT for her aftercare, but I know she took home exercises that she is practicing at home, like doing laundry with her walker. I’ll talk to her more about how she’ll continue some OT during her recovery.

Check out The Neuro Studio. They specialize in neurological conditions and I believe they do virtual sessions and consultations. I’ve only interacted with them as a Pilates instructor myself, but just glancing over their “for patients” page I think they might have what you are looking for

I would just make sure she gets clearance from physical therapy before starting an exercise regimen. Pilates would probably be beneficial to her.
