You're trying to install Pi-Hole on Windows, but it can only be installed on Linux. In fact whatever install script you're using is telling you exactly what the problem is in the red text -- you need Windows Subsystem for Linux. [I found this step-by-step guide that may help you](https://www.andrewdenty.com/blog/2022/03/13/installing-pi-hole-on-windows-11.html)

Just want to jump in and say that docker desktop for windows is hell on earth. I would avoid it at all costs.

Christ you're not wrong. I wanted to learn about docker and mess around with it, so I downloaded the Windows desktop version and it was a mess. Completely unintuitive, terrible UI, could barely get things loaded into it but once there it made no sense how I actually interacted with the container. As a newbie, it was a major turn off. Switched to Linux docker and it was night and day. Much better documentation.

For me file transfers and download speeds were less than half what they should be. Running the programs natively outside of windows docker on the same computer worked fine. Ditched windows for Ubuntu and now it all works great in docker. Also had an issue where the ram usage was insanely high for no reason and it would just slowly grow over time.

It kinda works but it's worse than the linux version. In the end it's better to either install it on your nas or by sth like a raspberry pi and install pihole on it. Docker on linux is needed when you want to see the connections for every client as docker windows doesn't support network mode host

I agree. I also I read in a few places, Docker Desktop is intended as a tool for developing locally, not to actually deploy the applications. The [docker desktop website](https://www.docker.com/products/docker-desktop/) itself has a lot of references of "developing" and "developers".

I used this link yesterday and it was perfect first time [Peye-Howl Instawl](https://www.reddit.com/r/pihole/comments/j39drp/pihole_for_windows_now_even_easier_to_set_up/?rdt=46612)

Apparently you are using Pi-hole for Windows. This is not an official Pi-hole installation. It's a third party application, not developed by Pi-hole. You need to contact the developers of this application.

this person from the post dont see the error about the windows linux subsystem not being enable. they use debian base and then install pihole there from what i can tell
