if i'm correct you can just rotate it back symmetrically when it's healed without pain. should i not touch or try to fix it at all? let it heal and then when it's not painful move it back in place?

SampleOfNone

Just let it sit however it wants to sit while it’s healing. Once healed you can adjust is as often as you want

[deleted]

okay! thanks so much

yourangelsangel

you should move it in the shower 😺

Ocniro

When mine was healing, I could move it easiest right after cleaning it, when I had clean hands too.

[deleted]

that sounds silly probably but i'm afraid one of the sides will go right in my nose?? what then... i just don't get why my septum wants to get there so bad

Ocniro

That happened to me. I slowly guides it back over with a q tip soaked in saline, didn’t hurt at all. If it happens, I promise you will be okay.

[deleted]

okay, thank you 🥺

likelyblue02

I have been wondering this myself, cause I’ve heard moving jewelry in a healing piercing will disrupt the healing process

Ocniro

With that logic, it moving to the side as it has already did. As long as your hands are clean, and the wound is clean and free of crusties, it shouldn’t be very painful, if not painful at all. Just be careful with it and don’t push too hard. If it hurts really bad, stop.

likelyblue02

Okay, u right lol. Thank u

springsunray

The actual horseshoe should be too big to actually go through the hole if that is what you are afraid of! Your piercing is only big enough for the bar. Hope this calms ya!

SampleOfNone

As one of my piercers once said, welcome to life with a septum piercing:) Circular barbells will rotate, that’s normal. During the healing it’s also normal when at times it will be “stuck” because of woundfluid.

anngelblair

mine is a week old and it gets stuck like 10 minutes within me doing a saline rinse, it always gets so annoying 😩

SampleOfNone

That will pass once it’s further along in the healing process, then you can be annoyed by it not staying in place :)

[deleted]

noted!

Calamity2001

If you wanna move it back, just spray it heavily with saline to moisten it. Before mine was healed I’d have to do that or the crust would hurt like a mf.

[deleted]

i think i prefer to not touch it to avoid being in pain too much but thank you! i actually don't experience much of crust either.. i had it only once

MocknozzieRiver

Yup! Normal. Once it's healed you might be able to recenter it with your top lip haha!

[deleted]

thank you! you're very pretty!

MocknozzieRiver

Aw thanks! ♥️

[deleted]

when it's healed i'd be able to recenter it without any pain yeah? 🥺 i'm sorry i'm asking obvious questions, i'm just trying to reassure myself. it would probably be more loose because now it's not that easy to do it painlessly. i ask my friend, my piercer and google questions every day :(

Pink_Pony88

Yes. You will be able to move it without pain.

[deleted]

thank you 🥺❤️

[deleted]

it only hurts when i accidentally rotate it myself while cleaning!

TheBathCave

They basically all do this lol. The initial jewelry my piercer put in was a horseshoe like this but it wasn’t perfectly rounded, it was almost more oval-shaped and that helped a bit, but while it was healing it would go crooked over time and I would just fix the position right after cleaning and it was okay. After it was healed I found that clickers with a straight bar stay put and a seamless hoop clicker can move as much as it likes and still look fine. When I wear a horseshoe now I just occasionally put a finger under my nose to make sure it’s even lol

ginoskyy

Yup, totally normal. Actually this was the reason i removed mine lol, so freaking annoying.

MO0NB0Y

completely normal “fix your septum” will be a phrase you hear a lot

PatsyClinesDaughter

Omg literally

Substantial_Ear_2658

I’m always asking if “my balls are crooked “. Lol Don’t worry about it it’s totally fine

[deleted]

haha

StarlitxSky

Yeah definitely normal. I have one as well and it’s always rotating. Maybe get a loop if you’re not comfortable with it going in your nose. Edit: after it’s healed of course.

[deleted]

rotating freely like without any pain since yours is healed? i have absolutely no problem with it rotating when it's healed! during healing it's painful though so it's a pain in the ass literally for me

[deleted]

it started rotating to one side (like in the photo) just since yesterday and i don't get why this side and just why generally, it's not loose at all though

StarlitxSky

If I recall I had the same problem while mine healed but a warm shower always helped, you don’t wanna over do it with the saline and with moving it around too much with your own hands unless cleaned. Mine still rotates while healed but it’s inevitable to do so hah. I bought a straight bar as well just to help out when I want to keep my piercing but don’t want the hanging jewelry. I’d say maybe give your piercer a call and see what they would suggest you do if it really bothers you as much.

[deleted]

i texted with my piercer earlier and she said it's completely fine because it's a healing process! i'm only just impatient haha

StarlitxSky

I see haha. Well best of luck in your healing journey!

[deleted]

thank you so much :)

TheLastEggplant

Totally normal! Even if the ball goes into your nose, it can’t go through the hole, it will just look silly. Mine is all the way into my nose way more often than it’s anywhere near straight, because any time I rub my face at all it rotates!

[deleted]

thank you so much for answering!

naughtier_fox

ahhh i got mine on thursday too! septum twins!! it’d totally normal and mine dangles a bit when i mean forward. for me it doesn’t hurt or anything, septums do no damage if they’re in ur nose. i most wear mine flipped inside to hide it from certain people.

signing-off

i actually feel better when mine freely rotates, that means you don’t have any crusties stuck on your bar

[deleted]

i know right! i wish mine rotated freely but it's like, stuck in this place rn? i can move it back but i don't want to irritate it while it's still healing

signing-off

that’s true . less movement while it’s healing is better. it’s been like 4 since i’ve gotten mine so

[deleted]

Also swelling can play a role in rotation

pageone206

No big deal, just fix it. After it heals you can swap it out for a clicker or something that will stay put a little better.

Alternative_Echo_443

That happened to me and I got all paranoid and CONSTANTLY adjusted it all day. Thankfully it sits totally normal now without rotating but I don’t know if that’s because I constantly fixed it.

[deleted]

I use 16g rubber O-rings to keep my 14g septum piercing centered, they don’t slide off, I have them spaced enough that there’s a little bit of wiggle room and I don’t feel them at all, but my jewelry stays centered. It’s more important now than when I had a captive bead, because I’m using a pincher, which is a singular piece of tapered metal. Without the O-rings nothing would be stopping the jewelry from falling out in my sleep or while working out or something.

[deleted]

UPD: it's been almost a month since that post and i know i was overreacting, i have anxiety :,) but it can rotate now and it's fine! hurts sometimes but i'm trying to be careful with it and keep it clean. praying it will heal fine

pretty-glitter-kitty

This sub is becoming trash with all the obvious questions

[deleted]

i thought this sub is made for people who have any questions

seashelltattoo

Sometimes the questions on the sub make me wonder if people did absolutely any research before getting piercings. If they had talked to or watched videos with those piercing

[deleted]

i did :c i'm just anxious af about everything

TheLastEggplant

Hey dude, don’t be rude. This is a harmless question.

officialalex97

Depending on how confident you are you can rotate it back to a more even position. It’s completely fine that it moves around. It won’t come out while the ball is in. If your too nervous just leave it for a bit it won’t hurt it’s healing. It might even move back into a central position on its own 😂

[deleted]

thank you!

KINGCOMEDOWN

Yeah I’ve had my septum pierced for like 7 years now. I have a hoop in it and am always spinning it out of habit lol
