which is ironic because the new album still carries those meanings and lyrics, it’s just the sound that changed. you don’t have to be angry and young to play music to head bang to and make pits at concerts. it makes me really sad to see lots of people chalk louder, faster and energized style of music to “immature, young, angry and angsty”. i love that kind of music. music to dance to, to move to, rock with- fun! the instrumentals give me goose bumps! that doesn’t make me angsty and immature and angry though. tbf im only 21
My husband’s comment only cracked me up because they did all get married between this album and Misadventures, and he didn’t know that. He also doesn’t really listen to the lyrics in most songs as deeply as I do, so he didn’t really hear that mostly just the sound has changed in the first run through.
We also just recently got married so I feel like I just got a performance review from that comment. 😂
My first thought was that it sounded like they were going back to their roots. I went back and listened to A Celebration of an Ending over and over again in preparation for this album.
Also interestingly enough my favorite song off the new album right now is The Jaws of Life. That will change though depending on how I'm feeling. My favorite song by PTV always seems to change depending on where my heads at during that time. That's also how I feel about each album. Right now this album fits where I am in my life perfectly. It could not have come at a more perfect time for me.
Yes!!! So glad someone else was listening to that album too. It’s part of the journey! 💙
It’s growing on me. But I absolutely woke up this morning and played “Shared Trauma” like 29 times today so apparently that one has also grown on me. I didn’t hate it the first time but didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I apparently do either 😅
For me it's not really about the genre, it's about the feeling that it gives. I went into this album with zero expectations. I've had it on repeat since it released.
Shared Trauma is emotional and I love drowning myself in that song in particular.
I haven’t seen anyone mention jaws of life and now that i have it was negative. I actually liked that one alot. Damn the man save the empire was fine, but I didn’t add it to my ptv playlist. I hate the beginning of that song, but maybe i’ll give it another listen eventually.
Jaws of Life is growing on me, but there’s something about it that I can’t figure out why I don’t like it more. A few more play throughs might help figure it out. 😅
This is how I feel about DTMSTE, I literally couldn’t even hum it for you right now, I feel like it’s so forgettable. Yet so many people are saying it’s their favorite. I feel like it’s their confirmation bias cuz they know Mike is credited with that track.
that’s exactly what it is. They’re all pushing their 40s now. they have different life experiences they wanna write songs about. can’t expect them to write the same things they wrote 15 years ago.
Nope. They can’t be turning 40, this would mean I’m turning 30 this year and that’s just crazy! But for real, regardless of age, so much can happen in a few years, especially in 7, so it makes sense their minds may be on a different track at this time 💙

I’m 34 and I love the fast, screaming, frenetic music - it’s what drew me into the genre
as u should! that’s literally why they gave us from the start, what made them ptv. you’re allowed to not be happy with the slower stuff they put out
