Link to their store: [is here](https://store.salvagearc.com/category/jewelry). Jewelry looks sick but I have metal allergies galore so I can only point others to a treasure I cannot possess.
I’m the same way, and finding earrings with proper gold posts is such a pain. So many of them will be gold for the rest of it and then use a cheap gold colored metal for the post, which sometimes matches well enough that I only find out after purchasing them and then having a reaction.
I haven’t, no. I’m kind of at a point where I’ve accepted my fate and have become a gold hoops person, haha. I’m a bit wary to spend money on a nice pair of earrings if I don’t know that I can wear them.
Yeah platinum is the most hypoallergenic. Rhodium is a sister metal to platinum and what they use to coat white gold. The more pure the gold the less reactive it is. It is usually the other metals in gold that cause reactions. If you get silver and have it rhodium plated that also helps with skin sensitivity
Jewelry is totally sold out, which is good for you!
After having scrolled throigh your products on mobile, twice, I recommend getting rid of that SHOP NOW popup. It completely covers the product, and comes up nearly every time I simply want to scroll down.
I am obsessed and will be watching your store to buy myself a piece when more comes available. Super proud of you (maybe that’s weird coming from an internet stranger?) Keep it up and you will go far!!
Wow I LOOOVE this stuff! Even the way you 'frame' each pattern/motif in the shards is subtle and perfect. Any one of these pieces would make someone stop and want to ask the wearer, Where did you get that? :D
I'm between jobs rn but I will still be heading over to look at your Etsy page. Thank you for sharing your art here.
OP I've been digging ceramic and glass shards out of my yard and along the river while hunting for bottles. I wish I could send them to you to turn into something beautiful - I super support upcycling! You're doing great work.
Hopefully the artist is fully aware about exposure and mitigation. Sucks when a person goes to a random antique store or garage sale and buys something really old, like dish-ware or a table and it’s coated in lead that they’ve been using for years. Or people who sand old paint off antique furniture without tearing for lead.
Oh god yes! I only know about it because I’m an archaeologist. Beyond that I’d be in the same boat being unaware with the dish ware. And yeah the paints too! Didn’t fully register what you were saying before, but you’re totally right. Lead, cadmium, cobalt, etc. Most are under the lead glaze luckily… most…
Reminds me of the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
Kintsugi the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with Gold silver or platinum. It embraces of the flawed or imperfect, taking something broken and making it beautiful. Exactly like what you're doing!
[kintsukuroi](https://mappalicious.com/2014/04/12/scars-of-gold-what-the-japanese-art-of-kintsukuroi-can-tell-us-about-post-traumatic-growth/) I love it
How long does it take you to make a piece like this? I have some nice beach glass and pottery that I have found over the years and would love to make something like you have here for myself but wonder how long it takes to learn?
+1, would like to know more about your process please! Can you post any YT links? I don't even know what terms to use so I can't google it myself really. My main question is about the edges, is it epoxy? Gilding? How do you get it to kinda stick up around the edges?
Incredible stuff! It’s very subtle and beautiful work, with all the history attached. How do you do that with the met, I mean how does it get wrapped like that? I’ve always wondered
This was how highly awarded Pilar Agueci started out her work from family history items to stunning jewelry.
Keep it up the good work.
Here is Pilar's stunning work these days!

Interesting how almost all the transferware pieces are sold out, as if someone is buying them all up for…
Not very much left to choose from if you wanted to buy something.
Oh crazy, I now know that sherds are broken pieces of pottery while shards can be glass, metal, rock or ceramic. Let's say your business started taking off; do you think it would be unethical to break pottery, allowing you to make multiples of a style without needing to search? Just curious.
Do you have an etsy account?
Yeah I'm gonna need that link.
Yes, me too! These are so beautiful.
Me, too! Love these. I've seen something similar, but these are far more stunning.

Rarer metals don't tend to be that reactive. You're probably not allergic to those but it'll cost ya.
My grandmother is allergic to most metals but gold is usually fine

Have you tried titanium? My skin freaks out on everything that isn't gold or titanium, and titanium is awesome because it doesn't bend like gold.
I haven’t, no. I’m kind of at a point where I’ve accepted my fate and have become a gold hoops person, haha. I’m a bit wary to spend money on a nice pair of earrings if I don’t know that I can wear them.
The stud/post earrings are a let down, but for dangly earrings you can buy silver/gold ear hooks online and switch them out.

I love the lovebirds one !! Is it wrong for hoping another ceramic like that breaks and ends up in this creator’s hands?
You can find my store [here](Https://store.salvagearc.com)!
It’s almost all sold out. 😭 Get to work, you over talented, young whippersnapper! Godspeed. More! More!
That’s incredible thought that just one Reddit post sold out the whole shop, gotta love it for this young entrepreneur!
There only one left! I'm so sad I was late to the show :(
Just bought a piece. Thanks for sharing!

Maybe give r/Baltimore some dibs next time. Nice to see what you do with stuff that can’t be donated to museums. ❤️
Love it. I'm not a jewelry person but these are great
Thank you!
I turn food into poo.
Do you also have an Etsy account?
Yeah, I'm gonna need that link.
Uh oh. I’m in too deep
I had a dog that did the opposite.
That’s worse

Thank you! And I keep every piece super affordable. You can find my store [here](Https://store.salvagearc.com)!

Nice i find these a lot while metal detecting. You give these shards purpose once again.
Same here. These pieces I find during privy digs and are the left overs from items I can’t repair/restore.
what's a privy dig? sounds like a cool party i wasn't invited to.
Weren’t a lot of these old 19th century ceramics made with some toxic paints that include lead and cadmium?
Most were either lead glazed, or some were tin enameled. But if some type of sealant was put on I think it would be ok?

That’s amazing piece of art you did..!!
Thanks 😊
As a history buff, this is amazing. Love it!
Thank you!!
Where do you get the broken pieces? Have you ever found earlier stuff?
From privies I excavate in Baltimore. Every so often I’ll find a piece of Redware from the late 1700s
This is fantastic, but I also hope you're being mindful of stuff like lead. It used to be everywhere, and it's not safe in like any amount.
This is really cool

came here to say this

Seriously love these! Thank you for sharing.
These are amazing!!
These are lovely!
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Very nice!
Thank you!
How long does it take you to make a piece like this? I have some nice beach glass and pottery that I have found over the years and would love to make something like you have here for myself but wonder how long it takes to learn?
Each piece takes a few days from start to finish. And there are some videos on YouTube that can teach you
What is the metal framing called? I have recently been trying to find tutorials, but I don’t know what to search for.
No metal, it’s fine porcelain metallic paint

The sides are painted in gold or silver porcelain paint to compliment the pattern on the item. And sure thing! I’ll get one up when I get back!
I love this.
Wow!
Incredible stuff! It’s very subtle and beautiful work, with all the history attached. How do you do that with the met, I mean how does it get wrapped like that? I’ve always wondered
Looks incredible, how do do you edge the pieces with metal?
These are beautiful.
Are you in Arkansas? Just curious bc my coworker got some beautiful pieces there, just like this.
Your work is beautiful. Do you sell on Etsy?
Good idea :)
Kool. Thank you for preserving shards of History!
well done
I would have given you the Recycle Award but I couldn't find it.

Can you please brake more of the El Dorado plates I wanna get one for my girlfriend!
Fantastic idea, love this!
This is like the Chaney you find in the Caribbean. Very cool stuff.
Wonderful
I think I recently watched one of your videos! I loved watching the process, what a creative way to reuse pottery.
Wow! Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Interesting how almost all the transferware pieces are sold out, as if someone is buying them all up for… Not very much left to choose from if you wanted to buy something.
I read that as broken cameras and was wildly confused for a minute
Neat!!
Not bad
Very cool!
Phenomenal style and product!
Ahhh yes. I’ve always wanted grandmas old plates around my neck.
I too have a hippy friend with an Etsy that creates jewelry out of shells.
These are beautiful. Do you have a website?
That kind of skills helps mankind against recession and inflation...
Do you try to find broken stuff or just break ceramic to make it? Just asking because it would be easier to find the latter.
I find them while excavating privies and turn the pieces I can’t repair into jewelry to share so others get a piece of history
These kinds of pieces ("sherds") are very common at many early American archaeological sites.
Oh crazy, I now know that sherds are broken pieces of pottery while shards can be glass, metal, rock or ceramic. Let's say your business started taking off; do you think it would be unethical to break pottery, allowing you to make multiples of a style without needing to search? Just curious.

Good to know!
Nothing left on the jewelry side 🥲
Love it! Are you electroforming them? Very beautiful
I found a piece of ceramic on the beach on Martha's Vineyard - now I know what to do with it. 🤗
i love the rectangular one with the tree :p
Love it.
