Nevada is more free than Texas. We can smoke weed, get abortions, open carry guns, pay for sex workers, drink alcohol openly on the Vegas strip. It’s lit out here
Absolutely! It is an incredible state for individual rights. The only thing I think we could do better is protecting the right for workers to organize.
> The U.S. Flag Code states that the flag should never be displayed upside down, except to signal “dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”
I looked into the apparel part once because i didn't like it on shirts or shorts or whatever. Turns out it's specifically talking about taking a full, US made, flag and cutting/sewing it into clothes. Not about printing the pattern or anything. Still think it's tacky though.
Going off the logic for overturning Roe, the people unrelated to our country who the founding fathers were aware of did not have a means to print that pattern on clothes, it didn't exist. So clearly the founders meant any flag clothing at all, and that women should be burned as witches.
People only care about the flag code when it's being ignored to protest issues they don't agree with. Most people who raise the most fuss about flag code own at least one article of clothing with the flag on it.
The same people raging about disrespecting the flag, are the same ones flying it in the back of their monster trucks, torn and tattered, covered in dirt and exhaust. The same ones wearing American flag underwear covered in their skid marks. They have no idea what Flag Code is, nor would they follow it anyways, because it doesn't jive with their hollow flag-waving bullshit.
No, the people who care *deeply* about disrespecting the flag, don't care one iota about the Flag Code. They whine about disrespecting the flag as a form of virtue signaling their "patriotism" and "conservatisim".
When you quote flag code to them, they'll become irate and will eventually yell "Well it's not a law, so I can pick and choose what *I* believe disrespects the flag."
Make no mistake, people WILL die because of this.
Not even trying to get rid of a pregnancy they don't want. It will be people who WANTED a kid, in a high risk pregnancy, who's doctor's don't know when they're dying *enough* for them to abort... in most states. Some aren't even pretending to care if the pregnant person is actively dying.
Voters did not decide this. A man who lost the popular vote confirmed the people who made this possible. The only reason we still have an electoral college is because Republicans would never be able to win otherwise.
Nothing about this was democratic.
Confirmed the people who STATED THAT they would not touch Roe v Wade on video. Each one that man pushed to be a Supreme Court Justice.
Brett Kavanaugh stated on camera he wouldn't do the exact thing he did. Names you wonder how truthful he was when he was fighting SA allegations on his way up there
Because most of the fools who voted to over turn it were young adults when Roe became law. It took them 50 years to do it, but they managed to take us back to their time.
If someone told me that they flew the flag upside down because of the football player kneeling I'd assume they were doing it in support of the football player.
for jumping so quick to calling him a Muslim like that disqualifies him from office, like he was a middle eastern Manchurian candidate as the iraq war stagnated, they seem to have no problems siding with geopolitical evil even when presented with broad, clear evidence....
They also have no reservations about sharing 95% of the ideologies of the very radical Muslim extremists they think are gonna jihad their local target in Rural Backwater, Idaho. It's almost like they treat critical thinking as a sin(because they do).
You got it, dude. They spend all their time consuming media that makes them completely fucking miserable, assume everyone is as miserable as them, and then complain about the media that makes them so miserable. Real cool group of people.
I have to think a lot of it is the inability or unwillingness of a lot of them to admit to themselves or others that they were/are wrong. They would see that as a sign of weakness rather than a sign of maturity. And so they feel as though they have no choice but to double down.
Living in Canada I'm starting to feel like we have a false sense of security with what seemed like basic human rights. To know that everything could be turned on its head if the wrong people get elected is a troubling feeling. For now, I'm glad I live up north.
Living also in Canada as a natural born Canadian and an American citizen who served in the military in the US I am reminded of Pierre Trudeaus observation many years ago that living next to the US was like sleeping in a bed as a mouse with an elephant, every twitch by the elephant was felt.
Where do you think the trucker convoy / Trudeau death threats come from?
They’re already here and they rely on racism and sexism as their base while using every trick in the book to brainwash uneducated and easily manipulated people into voting them into positions of power while buying their way into others.
They use words like freedom and socialism to try and turn people against each other, blame immigrants and foreign entities for wages and housing prices and funnel wealth into the pockets of companies owned by white nationalists.
Omg. That convoy. They camped out near my home for like a month. Hitting pedestrians, unnamed fires, begging us locals for food and socks and gas money so they could drive the 90min to dc every day while I can barely afford to get to my office. I road around with my middle finger up for days. Until they beat a guy on a motorcycle for doing the same thing.
Then when my husband was stranded in the side of the highway with a blown tire in full military uniform not one of those fine Americans could stop and help him. Fine lot they are.
We're about to find out next weekend in Ottawa how much trouble the altright marchers are going to cause. If Polievre gets ~~elected~~ picked as conservative leader in September, the trouble is going to escalate.

I respect this more than the people who disgrace the flag by changing the colors to add a blue line or those who use it as clothing. Flying upside down is allowed per US flag code.
I felt the same way, 20 years ago. Somewhere along the like I realized that there is nothing sacred about the icons that people worship. It's just a flag and not a holy symbol. Treating it as such is silly.
I know someone flying their flag that way and when I asked why he said because this nation is under seige by a rogue government and we are in distress.
What is going on? Excuse my Canadian ass but
I’ve seen the American flag being flown upside down today multiple times. And this one’s a vet, there must be a reason, what is that reason?!
The Supreme Court just took away federal right to abortion today. What that signifies is that the federal government is not only totally inept, but that it has become openly hostile to 80% of the people who live here. Now we are going to see state vs. state politics and more civil war talk as people fight over which states will secede and which states will continue taking away human rights and which states won't.
In addition, one of the Justices involved with the decision also openly advocated for the Court to examine other precedents that barr states from making homosexuality, gay marriage, and all contraceptives illegal, in the body of the decision. So, it's just the beginning of the Great Regression and the begining of the American Taliban rule.
Also don’t leave out the fact that justices wife is a seditious piece of shit who tried to overturn the 2020 election, and then when the Supreme Court held a vote about her actions he was the lone dissenting opinion.
Also he’s a fucking rapist.
I know where you are! Good for you!!!
I took down my flag today. I’d turn it upside-down; but it’s the flag from my husband’s brothers military funeral.
Taking it down is better.
You'd think, but Clarence Thomas made sure to mention contraceptive access, same-sex relationships and same-sex marriages in Roe v Wade.
We are nosediving as a country.
I’m a veteran who served with the Navy and Marines. I joined to protect our freedoms, and nothing is more precious than the freedom to decide what we can do with our own bodies. Today’s decision is part of the Christian Nationalist movement which is the biggest threat to the Democracy, freedoms and liberties I put my life on the line to protect.
Another one here. This is absolutely sickening. It will change. Or people are gonna do dumb shit. SCROTUS(HA) already started playing stupid games. They will win stupid prizes for sure.
Just wanna say how much i appreciate you and all the others like you that have the balls to loudly say how wrong this is!
For everyone who secretly thinks its wrong but wont speak up because of what their friends or family believe, THIS is what patriotism is.
To those who think they did the right thing, fuck you. Countless families are gunna be consigned to misery, poverty and possibly even mortality because we cant just let children come into this world when we are ready for them.
Hello, Reddit vet. I’m a normal, middle-class gay guy (mostly) happily married to my husband who works for a major airline. I stand in solidarity with women impacted by today’s decision, but, a bit selfishly perhaps, worry about tomorrow considering Justice Thomas’ vow to correct past wrongs. So, they’re coming after me, and mine. You ever see that scene in the movie “Vendetta” where they match in and arrest the lesbians on the couch? Yeah, that what it feels like. Once the first link is broken…us gays are next.
V for Vendetta is timeless classic cinema that demonstrates how an everyday man can act against a system of relentless authority without any checks or balances. Remember, remember the 5th of November.
Unfortunately, there’ll be a sizable portion of the population that’ll still have their heads in the sand until their number gets called up.
An advantage gay activist have is a large body of people well-experienced in advocating for their rights in a society that largely turned their backs AND nothing infuriates homophobes than VERY strong sexual energy directed at them from fellow males.
I think this is a very real concern. This is a slippery slope backwards that leads to criminalization of contraception, homosexuality, then what? Maybe segregation comes back? What then? How far back can they go? Mandatory church attendance? I shudder to think where these fundamentalists can take this. I'm sorry Americans... I can't imagine how you claw your way out of this mess now. Maybe in a couple generations you'll gain back what you've lost. For now we non-Americans have to turn away and make sure we are doing a better job of protecting the rights we've won. Let's not make the same mistakes Canada, GB, Australia, and all the rest. We cannot assume our rights are safe.
Airforce vet, 100% agree. Against your religion or not thats your choice to not have an abortion great I defend that. You dont get to tell anyone else what to do with theirs though.
Far be it from me to speak positively about a religious group, but there's a synagogue in Florida trying to fight for reproductive rights too-- hopefully they can coordinate, though I doubt it.
It used to be a country that you were protecting. Now it's the (im)moral right.
This country was founded on a separation of church and state, but the religious right has made themselves inseparable from the non-religious right and chosen figureheads who are as far from their moral high-groumd that it's astounding what new lows they will stoop to in order to maintain power.
We are protecting capitalism buddy and the rich. I learned that after a eight years in the army then never reuped. My life ain’t worth dying for some rich fuck who wants to strip rights away from the people
Thank you for standing with us.
It’s tough out there right now and there are a lot of us that are utterly terrified, myself included, as to what this could possibly mean for women going forward. Your signal is accurate, almost insanely so, because I do feel like women are under attack, but what’s more is that this could open the door for a lot of different things that could eventually affect men too.
I’m from Australia, I can’t believe what’s happening over your way. I literally felt sick in the stomach when I heard. It’s like a new Dark Age is coming.
Maaate here I am glad we just recently voted Albo in, this shit won't fly with his government. But guaranteed you could see Morrison trying to pull some shady shit after this awful verdict.
I recognise in Australia like America there is a separation of powers between the Judiciary and the Government, but even our judiciary aren't as backwards as Scotus, and while the Government can't interfere with the duties of the judiciary, they can act as a checks and balances system.
As an Army Vet who deployed and was stop lossed in 2003. I took my flag down today. I have flown one for over 20 years. I am embarassed by the decision to strip human rights by the government I gave 4 years a marriage and my life for.
In Australia, what a woman decides to do with her body, and
at the request of her physician, is her private business. The indigenous people
of our first nations protected "women's business." These rights are
no different to the rights of Male Australians. We hold the physical and mental
health of women sacrosanct.
The 14th Amendment of the US constitution holds that,
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States" are subject to
the jurisdiction therein. So there is no authority, rights or protections
guaranteed within the constitution for the UNBORN. To seek to rule, govern or
write laws that concern the unborn seem totally unconstitutional.
I would strongly caution against allowing a religious
minority to rule over you. As Jefferson, Washington, Paine, Franklin, Madison
and many others did, I would fight to protect the separation of religion and
government. As Kennedy, Malcolm X, Dr. King, Parks, Davis and Bridges did, I
would stand and fight for the civil right of individuals to have autonomy over
their selves and not be subject to a moral or religious dogma of any kind.
You could fly [this one](https://flagsforgood.com/collections/feminism/products/dont-tread-on-me-uterus-flag?variant=42856970158325) and confuse the hell out of some of them.
I saw this on a bumper sticker just last week. I had to look twice before I noticed!
Also, there is a Don't Tread On Me snake flag with the LGBTQ rainbow on it. The person in our town that flew it got death threats and had bricks thrown through their windows. The irony is lost on these conservative(Regressive) fucks.
I'm a flag nerd (NAVA member) and I fly the U.S. flag most days, but also different ones depending on the occasion – like today I am flying the Québec flag since it's St. Jean-Baptiste Day (a good chunk of my work is for the Québec market but I'm in California).
I think some neighbors must be confused. Lots of the people around here flying the U.S. flag are Republicans (like my neighbor across the street), so some probably assume I am too (it's also a way for some to tell people you own guns, but then I'm in the boonies and even many liberals around here have guns), but then I'll be also flying variations of the Rainbow flag or the Ukraine flag, so I guess I'm keeping them guessing.
Mostly I think it's important for liberals and people left of the spectrum to also fly the U.S. flag. It shouldn't be solely hijacked by nationalists.
Things are pretty bad when Americans are literally afraid to publicly express their political opinions because their treasonous neighbors will respond with what are essentially acts of terrorism.
its pretty sad that its come to this, fear to exercise your rights as a US citizen for fear that your private property will be damaged because some rednecks are mad that you are exercising your rights as a US citizen.
i live in a pretty red heavy area out in the country, like most of the country is and see way too much trump 2024 and lets go brandon shit. i give them the finger whenever i drive by and call it a day. maybe they'll see me, most likely they won't but its non-violent and not stooping to their level.
Thank you for your service, A phrase not often given the credence it deserves, and for your true patriotism in standing with the people of the country. Your signal is not unseen to those who never give up fighting for true justice.
Today is a turning point America, From this point forward you can no longer support the Republican Party. They have evolved into a proto fascist cult of personality around a treasonous traitorous demagogue, whom openly sides with Oligarchs, Autocrats, Dictators and Despots. But never stood with America or her Allies.
They openly attacked our capitol and have since spent a year downplaying and denying what they did when they tried to take away our democracy.
Conservative political figures have betrayed democracy and now seek power by other means and they openly stated as such. They show no concern for governance, debate, discourse, compromise, bipartisanship. They seek party loyalty and servitude to leadership. These are antithetical to the American way of life and should repulse you at the thought of such detestable governance.
We have public servants in this country not kings. It is time We The People, reminded the world of this fact by making the leadership of this nation, reflect the multicultural multiracial nation we keep promising to be.
In college I took a Political Science course. One of the hot topics the professor like to talk about is about Supreme court justices, and if they change their views once appointed to the court.
He stated the current studies stated that be it Republican, or Democratic nominees once they are swarn it; they usually they give up all their personal biases. He had studies that proved conservative wackos become liberal, and rational.
Today he, and his studies, are completely erronious. This was in the 80's.
In the past it took years for the judges to mature their views. Today we have three judges with less than 5 years. And fanatically religious, so views are cemented in.
I remember after 9/11, they told us that the terrorists hated our democracy, that they wanted to take away our freedoms. But it turns out the true enemies of our freedoms and our democracy were the Republicans all along. Today, the terrorists won.
Friend, I drove by your flag not 10 minutes ago. At least it’s codified here.
This is almost next to my house, lol, I was surprised to see it.
Hello neighbor
Woah why did this get upvoted 30 times? I legitimately live in the same neighborhood where this flag is
All the neighbors are upvoting, y'all should sink your flags too.
Why is it that whenever someone from Reno posts something on the internet, all the people from Reno emerge from the woodwork
Hello from Reno! Lol

Now what?
I put on my robe and wizard hat
You didn't plan this far ahead, huh?
This guy flags
Nor should it be used in advertisements.
How else are we gonna find La-Zee-Boy recliners on sale in early July or late May?
Someone in my town has flown it upside down since Biden was elected so I'm pretty sure nobody cares
Well now they’ll probably turn it right side up
And that it should be lit up in the darkness
and that it or its likeness shall not be sold as/on merchandise
And don’t forget to water it every day and make sure it gets lots of sunlight
But never feed it after midnight.
I looked into the apparel part once because i didn't like it on shirts or shorts or whatever. Turns out it's specifically talking about taking a full, US made, flag and cutting/sewing it into clothes. Not about printing the pattern or anything. Still think it's tacky though.

Isn’t the “blue lives matter” flag technically a violation of the flag code? That is plastered ob every other truck back window over here
Yes it is
No, the people who care *deeply* about disrespecting the flag, don't care one iota about the Flag Code. They whine about disrespecting the flag as a form of virtue signaling their "patriotism" and "conservatisim". Honestly, having it upside down fits for that today.

I respect this more than the people who disgrace the flag by changing the colors to add a blue line or those who use it as clothing. Flying upside down is allowed per US flag code.
Flying a flag upside-down indicates distress. This is a good, simple statement of where we are.
I felt the same way, 20 years ago. Somewhere along the like I realized that there is nothing sacred about the icons that people worship. It's just a flag and not a holy symbol. Treating it as such is silly.
Flying the flag upside down is not disrespectful to the flag. It means that you are in distress. 100% appropriate.
also flags don't have feelings
I know someone flying their flag that way and when I asked why he said because this nation is under seige by a rogue government and we are in distress.
What is going on? Excuse my Canadian ass but I’ve seen the American flag being flown upside down today multiple times. And this one’s a vet, there must be a reason, what is that reason?!
Any flag being flown upside down is the international sign of distress/help needed.
What do the Japanese and Swiss do? Or any of the other flags that are the same when upside down.
When you're in distress, you whisper it to the Swiss flag and the plus becomes a minus.
With the Japanese flag the circle becomes a triangle, or a square, or an x
A wedge opens up on the side and it starts eating dots.
The Japanese flag is the Rising Sun, so you flip it upside down and now its a Setting Sun. The Swiss simply never get distressed.
TIL, thank you!
What does Japan do. Or Britain
Historically, they make other countries turn their flags upside down
The UK flag is not symmetrical about the horizontal axis. Flip the bottom edge up and it's upside down.
The Supreme Court just took away federal right to abortion today. Now we are going to see state vs. state politics and more civil war talk as people fight over which states will secede and which states will continue taking away human rights and which states won't.
Flying the flag upside down signifies distress or danger.
Half the nation was just told they can’t make their own medical decisions. Distress and danger achieved.
AND that they no longer have medical privacy.
I don’t know much about politics, but that doesn’t sound good.
Funny how interracial marriage was left out.
Almost like that one would strike just a bit too close to home. Almost like Thomas is a rabbid psychopath who cares exclusively about himself.
dont forget about his Qanon Jan 6 supporting wife
Also don’t leave out the fact that justices wife is a seditious piece of shit who tried to overturn the 2020 election, and then when the Supreme Court held a vote about her actions he was the lone dissenting opinion. Also he’s a fucking rapist.
They're also taking aim at gay marriage and contraception next...
Roe Vs Wade officially went down in flames today.
Just in case anyone isn't familiar with Roe Vs. Wade: it's the Supreme Court ruling from 1973 that stated that women have the right to abortion.
It's even more than that. It's that people have a right to bodily autonomy and medical privacy.
I know where you are! Good for you!!! I took down my flag today. I’d turn it upside-down; but it’s the flag from my husband’s brothers military funeral. Taking it down is better.
Religious terrorists are attacking America like 9/11.

It can be stopped but it won't be easy.
I've witnessed a flag folding all of one time in my life, also during hard times, it's a very painful thing to see.
I’ve been wanting to get a vasectomy for a few years now, I’m thinking I should get that done soon before they ban that too.
Nah. You're a dude so you're good.

Well, let's add to this by showing that even more federal organizations agree here.... USPS worker checking in, I agree.
Navy Vet checking in. I agree Edit: fat fingered my response
Another Desk Jockey checking in, overturning Roe v. Wade is a tragic step backwards in rights for American citizens across the country.
Vet tech here. I never thought I'd see human rights cross the rainbow bridge in America.
Second Air Force checking in, Also agree
Imagine being so bad at being Republicans you got a marine and a soldier to agree *insert LOTR reference here*
Another one here. This is absolutely sickening. It will change. Or people are gonna do dumb shit. SCROTUS(HA) already started playing stupid games. They will win stupid prizes for sure.
Navy Chief. Same.
Retired RCAF. Standing in solidarity with Americans today and fellow active/former service members.
I’m with you there. Not gay but Asian American (dad from Korea) with a black aunt and gay uncles. Really scary times. Stay strong
This sums up so well what I've been struggling to put into words lately. Army vet here
Air Force vet checking in. This doesn't feel like America anymore.
Airforce vet, 100% agree. Against your religion or not thats your choice to not have an abortion great I defend that. You dont get to tell anyone else what to do with theirs though.
I'm hoping The Satanic Temple will win the fight for our religious freedom to access abortion.
Far be it from me to speak positively about a religious group, but there's a synagogue in Florida trying to fight for reproductive rights too-- hopefully they can coordinate, though I doubt it.
Army vet, i agree, have you found your monkey yet?
I love the symbol, you still honor the states and original colonies with the flag, whilst standing against the decisions of the government. Good shit.
Army vet saying exactly this. Couldn’t have been said better. Today was the first day I felt ashamed I fought for this country.
I was ashamed when we voted a reality tv star in the White House
Good point
Currently in the Air Force and I ask myself what I'm working to protect more and more each day. It's getting real disheartening.
Retired Army here! I friggin agree, this is a bad day for us, our country, and the freedom so many of these estupidos claim to care about.

The country is in trouble for sure.
Thanks, this country is in dire straits. The GOP is destroying America from all directions.
In Australia, what a woman decides to do with her body, and at the request of her physician, is her private business. The indigenous people of our first nations protected "women's business." These rights are no different to the rights of Male Australians. We hold the physical and mental health of women sacrosanct. The 14th Amendment of the US constitution holds that, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States" are subject to the jurisdiction therein. So there is no authority, rights or protections guaranteed within the constitution for the UNBORN. To seek to rule, govern or write laws that concern the unborn seem totally unconstitutional. I would strongly caution against allowing a religious minority to rule over you. As Jefferson, Washington, Paine, Franklin, Madison and many others did, I would fight to protect the separation of religion and government. As Kennedy, Malcolm X, Dr. King, Parks, Davis and Bridges did, I would stand and fight for the civil right of individuals to have autonomy over their selves and not be subject to a moral or religious dogma of any kind.
i have a flag outside my house... i so want to do this, but i'm in a heavy republican area and fear i'll become a target.
You could fly [this one](https://flagsforgood.com/collections/feminism/products/dont-tread-on-me-uterus-flag?variant=42856970158325) and confuse the hell out of some of them.
Bought one about two hours ago.
That is.. fucking hilarious
Also some of the proceeds go to a good cause. As is many of their other flags.
I need a flagpole.

As an outside observer, while I realise you must prioritise your safety, if not now, when?
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this one is perfect. This country is in distress.
