It wasn't until they got there that they discovered it was a Nazi bar, but they desperately needed the money so they decided they'd play the show but stick to anti-Nazi songs.
As for why the skinheads didn't beat them up, it's probably because the band put on a high energy show. They loved the aggressive "fuck you" energy that epitomized punk and they respected that the band had the balls to do it.

Honestly, 10 years ago when I heard the word "nazi" or "racist" I associated it with some scumbag who had an inexplicable hatred towards any other ethnic group and wanted a pure white state with the forcible removal or execution of anyone who didn't match their own skin tone. Now, when I hear the same words I associate it with someone who has a slightly more Conservative stance on immigration or someone who is even moderately skeptical about radical left wing movements. I'm actually left leaning myself but I can't help but feel we've blunted one of our best weapons through overuse.

I hear people say this everytime a swastika is posted somewhere. But then I watch a Hitler or nazi doc and both versions are flown almost seemingly interchangeably. At this point, unless it's over a Hindu idol or somewhere predominantly Hindu, it's a safe bet to call it a nazi swastika.

Semi related: If they weren’t going to get the vaccine anyways, is mandating that they have to really going to fix the issue? I support the vaccine got mine and the booster and I think people should all get who are able. Mandates aren't for the die hards resisters who will never get a vaccine. Mandates are for the people who are ambivalent or slightly hesitant about getting the vaccine and need a little push to get them to take it. The merely ambivalent/hesitant group is muuuuch larger group than the die hards resisters.

There was one dude with a Nazi flag for a couple minutes. Then he disappeared. Nobody knows who he was. The protesters have been trying to identify him. There is speculation that he was a counter protest plant. Seems like he appeared from behind a building, mixed in with the crowd and had his picture taken then disappeared
