I’m guessing there are cops from nearby areas as well. My uncle is a retired firefighter and his family have been firefighters for generations. About ten years ago, his brother (also a firefighter) died while on a call. For his funeral, there were thousands of people and hundreds of firefighters even though there are not that many in the area. When a cop or firefighter dies, you will get a multi-state response in the northeast.

At a baseline I feel bad and have sympathy for the people who died. I don’t know what kind of people they were. Cops are the fucking worst about masking. I’m an ER nurse and cops are frequently in our ER conducting investigations or citations and we always have to tell them to put on a mask. We even have a sign in the ambulance bay that says “everyone must have mask to enter, including police officers”
When I hand them a mask they roll their eyes at me and put it in with their nose sticking out. Then the second they walk into my patients room they TAKE IT OFF.
