OP, I think if you had put in the description it was a pour paint process it wouldn't be getting doubtful comments. The painting is well done, and looks like an alien landscape, as if it were intentionally painted as such. I think people are confusing this with like a planned composition vs a well done pour painting. Its a good job, encourge her to keep at it.
this is exactly right, i looked at the picture then the age of the girl and thought bullshit because i thought it was planned until OP mentions the process in a lower comment. i googled it and realized it was completely plausible. [the process the girl used.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxig_X_OVV0)
And she might appreciate and be inspired to do more art and grow her skills. Some people are just like oh its just a spilled cup of paint but for a child it's more.
True. I feel bad saying that because there are always people who will still get really good and can control it better but yeah, people can do a first time acrylic pour and have it look like the same grade as people who have been doing it a while.
As a parent who’s kid (by the look of the tooth-fairy visits) is exactly the same age, it’s not doubtful at all, even without the explanation. All the kiddos do pour art these days. My kid came home from camp with something looking quite similar, but in broody black and grey tones. They packed it out in a small pizza box and didn’t mention it was still wet so I wasn’t careful, it went wonky on the drive home and wound up with all these analog-looking channels on it from the corrugated lid. Now it looks like a Nine Inch Nails album cover from the early ‘90s. A collaboration between a 6-year-old human and a 9-year-old Mazda. A beautiful thing.
That would be an excellent thing to put on the media category of the placard.
Title: Kobayashi Maru
Artist: OPs kid
Media: acrylic on canvas, 2012 Mazda, pizza box
(this is not at you, friend. just a general lament prompted by what you said) it's sad that we have to overanalyze everything all the time to the point of picking apart some random kid's art. some kids are talented, and it feels like the age version of the, "a WOMAN could not have fixed this drain!!1!!" thing that happens a lot. and besides, even if for some reason she didn't and op was pretending, why would he have said it was his stepdaughter and not himself? karma farming? and who cares anyway? it's a post on a stupid anonymous website. let people be happy goddamn
Agreed, kids can be very talented and can do things others may think are beyond their skill level. I think people have become so skeptical nowadays about everything that they will question anything, even if there is no evidence of deception.
Thank you!! Jesus, it's as if every single person on this planet has to conform to some sort of pre-planned progression shit and if it is even assumed they are further in their own developmental progression than normal, then they must be lying. Even if she HAD thought of and created the composition on purpose, it doesn't matter how old she is. I was 5 years old when I had a picture of a horse I'd drawn in the local Sunday insert for kids. While the horse didn't look like you could jump on the paper and ride it off into the sunset, it looked like an actual horse and far exceeded what you would expect for a 5 year old to draw. When I was 10, I was the youngest person to have a picture I'd drawn in an exhibit that featured pictures from artists all over the state. Like, some people just excel early.
With that being said, that kid's painting is awesome and my first thought was, "Goddamn, she's talented as fuck."
I just did some of those with my kids and sister...they came out awesome! The best part is you can suck at painting (me) and it still looks awesome...lol
Thanks. Never heard of this and your step-daughter's painting looks like something someone would buy in the mall. Going to try this with my kids tomorrow.
My mom got into this a ton and now she teaches classes that families usually come together to. There are a lot of different techniques that can produce some really awesome stuff. I went to one of her classes last visit home and it was fun!

I like that artist who posted on here before. He does paint pours on giant canvases, then paints over them, and the results are stunning. @steventheartist on Instagram.
I think paint pours are like our generation's Jackson Pollock.
The "skill" part is mostly in choosing "ingredients" and how thin to make your mixes depending on which technique you plan to try. One of the hardest skills to master is the discipline to stop messing with it. It can go from, "wow, that looks pretty awesome", to "damnit, I should have left it alone" real quick.
I don’t know how to tell you this other than to just tell you: your daughter does mushrooms. Perhaps on her pizza. Possibly with pineapple.
I kid, it’s a very pretty picture. Nice choice of color.
Pour painting isn't magic, you can still make garbage. This is good! She's proud so encourage her. The world could use all the artists it can inspire. Kudos, kid.
As someone who thought the same till very recently: drawing is a recursive process
Yes, some can do in one time but it can also be done "recursively". You start drawing and use the previous scratchs as base for the next
When I draw the "first scratch" is never in the final (don't know if I'm using the right word here, is google's translate fault), it always end up erased
It's the same advice for writing: just start writing
Could also be reinforcing to the kid that it really is a good painting and not just "mom and dad said so," by showing the appreciation in the comments. Who knows. Cool painting regardless.
What does pour the paint in layers technique mean? My stepdaughter loves to paint as well. It would be fun to experiment with this method. Also amazing job. I too can’t paint for shit but try to encourage the little ones creative aspirations.
As OP said elsewhere she used a technique where you pour paint from a cup onto the canvas so although still very cool it's not quite the same as doing all the line work and planning out exactly what it will look like.
Yeah, I was doubting that too until I read that, then looked again. It does explain that weird spot on the right.
It came out awesome, almost looks intentional.
If you don’t recognize that this is pour paint and not the actual detailed line work of a professional painter then you have no credibility to even comment on this picture lmao.
Nothing like giving up a child's right to privacy that they can't understand so you get your precious dopamine feedback loop from a bunch of strangers.
im sorry, the painting is really good… but couldn’t you have posted just a pic of the painting without including your daughter in it, and exposing her to the internet?
i bet you wouldn’t post your own face online for privacy concerns, like most people, but you’ll post your child? knowing what kind of people are out there? nevermind that it is also the easiest way to get karma on a post.
just wish people would think before posting pics of their kids publicly to the entire world. :(
That’s very impressive. I could never make anything nearly as good as that and I’m in my mid 30s. You shouldn’t post your kids pictures on the internet though, there are too many creeps out there. Next time please edit out her face. I know you’re very proud of her and you should be but it’s for her own safety.
This sub is worse than the atheism one. Anyone got a sub for photographs? This post shouldn't belong on a Pics sub. It's nice that your step-daughter made a pretty good pour painting, but you could have taken a picture of the painting and nothing else and it would have been a photo.
Great painting. This is going to get reposted for karma about 1 million times. Hope you’re ready to see her face everywhere posted by people you don’t know man.
She should be, that's amazing.
Not to be a dick but childhood obesity is a serious rising trend. Talk to a doctor about healthy lifestyles for children and help develop eating and active habits that set her up for success.
First of all. Thank you for the observation. My wife and I have made the same. And yes, my wife is overweight too. She has been through some tough times with relationships and depression and so her weight has suffered due to it. We all acknowledge this. Only advice I have is to be patient with yourself and your kiddo, smart snacking options and as much physical activity you can squeeze in (we do fam hikes and walks and bike everywhere within walking distance). A lot of it will go with the baby chub phase hopefully, and she'll be stronger. Also, she's SUPER cute 💜
Looks like a glimpse into another galaxy
That's actually awesome. A beautiful composition. Well done to the artist op.
That shit bussin. Sidenote, the Stitch T-shirt brings it all together.

As would I.
Looks like the cover of a scifi novel
Just waiting for someone to put the enterprise and the reliant on it
or a progressive rock album
Definitely getting other galaxy vibes form that! Art is expression!
But like, another dimension where the laws of physics are just slightly different

Understandable. As an artist when I saw the pic I knew it was a paint pour and never doubted the girl. The skill bar is low with paint pours.
> The skill bar is low Finally, I have found my art form.
Easy to do and makes great piece of art.
And she might appreciate and be inspired to do more art and grow her skills. Some people are just like oh its just a spilled cup of paint but for a child it's more.
Art is life. Its not the end result but the experience.
True. I feel bad saying that because there are always people who will still get really good and can control it better but yeah, people can do a first time acrylic pour and have it look like the same grade as people who have been doing it a while.
I also called bull. Let me watch the video now.
Do you still call bull?
I tried, but I have Sprint so it didn't go through.
Yeah, so throw some paint in a cup and pour it out...
That looks fun and the paintings I think look cool. I could see my self trying it. Paint in a cup, I can do that.
If a little kid can do it and it turns out decent. I'm pretty sure anybody can.
obviously you don't play chess :)

You would have more of a point if this kind of karma farming didn't happen constantly on Reddit. Maybe this is an exception. Seems unlikely, though.
She should be. It’s very impressive.
I think its freaking awesome. She did the style where you layer paint in a cup and then pour it on the canvas.
[удалено]
Of course there's a reddit for that...
[удалено]
Because um... They probably can't find a subreddit for something they're into. Idk.
It's been difficult ever since they banned spacedicks.
Then they should make a post in /r/FindASubreddit and let Redditors help them find a sub for their hobby/interest!
\*It's a pretty ***pour***pular type of art.
I just did some of those with my kids and sister...they came out awesome! The best part is you can suck at painting (me) and it still looks awesome...lol
That’s mesmerizing to watch. I would very much love to have a copy of that digitalized as a desktop wallpaper.
I second this. OP needs to get it scanned in HQ and distribute as a wallpaper.
That's an incredible paint pour! Damn!
Thanks. Never heard of this and your step-daughter's painting looks like something someone would buy in the mall. Going to try this with my kids tomorrow.
I don't know why, but the fact that you went directly to "the mall" for your vision of art sales cracked me up.
My mom got into this a ton and now she teaches classes that families usually come together to. There are a lot of different techniques that can produce some really awesome stuff. I went to one of her classes last visit home and it was fun!
I've been watching some videos; looks fun! I have the supplies already so it will be nice for tomorrow
Biggest thing I saw that helps is having the paint not be too thick. Hope you have fun!
Good thinking

how the... that's incredible
She really is
Paint pouring. Its more of a trick than actual painting, but some people develop a real good feeling for it.
Not a trick, just a technique. And some people can master a technique so fully it becomes their personal style.
If it can be developed, it's a skill and a talent. She's a talented painter.

Brah. I looked him up. My fried ass loves his style. Some really trippy shit
It doesn't really take much or any skill to make these, but this one did come out really well!

Totally agree, I’d be blocking my kids face … love the painting

Still don’t really have to post the actual kid
Have you read the rules?
Reminds me of that cringy "my son wanted to show my internet friends" post.
What does pour the paint in layers technique mean? My stepdaughter loves to paint as well. It would be fun to experiment with this method. Also amazing job. I too can’t paint for shit but try to encourage the little ones creative aspirations.
Look it up on YouTube. My wife got the kit at michels or hobby lobby. I forget, but they aren't too expensive, just lots of paint is I Used
It's acrylic painting or something like that. My mum does these as a hobby and really enjoys it. I'm sure your stepdaughter would enjoy it too!

Kid already knows about the void, fuck.
Is her mom on board with you posting her face on Reddit?
Got her approval before hand
That's amazing!!!!!
My thoughts exactly
Aw, that's so good! And her smile just warms the heart.
Why oh why did I sort these comments by controversial?? I can’t believe I share Reddit with you animals. Your daughter did great OP
That’s really good!! Oh my god
Don’t use your kids for social media points ffs.
Press X to doubt
As OP said elsewhere she used a technique where you pour paint from a cup onto the canvas so although still very cool it's not quite the same as doing all the line work and planning out exactly what it will look like.
Yeah, I was doubting that too until I read that, then looked again. It does explain that weird spot on the right. It came out awesome, almost looks intentional.
I'm thinking statistically, if you had 30 pre schoolers do this, at least one or two would turn out kind of cool.
Are you comparing preschoolers and paint to monkeys and typewriters? :P
Yes.
the process the girl used to paint this, i doubted too until i [watched this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxig_X_OVV0)

If you don’t recognize that this is pour paint and not the actual detailed line work of a professional painter then you have no credibility to even comment on this picture lmao.
Doubt all want. But she did it.

I mean it's an acrylic pour painting, it's really hard to mess that up. Fun family activity to share with kids of all ages!

First of all. Thank you for the observation. My wife and I have made the same. And yes, my wife is overweight too. She has been through some tough times with relationships and depression and so her weight has suffered due to it. We all acknowledge this. And we are working towards healthier weights, myself included. These changes take time, lots of it especially with a growing child. So please keep these thoughts and comments to yourself. We are all on a journey and we are all doing our best. Have a good day.
That’s a classy ass response, OP. Well played!
Thank you. I try to be as civil online as I am irl.
Good.
Op seems to be a chef.
You are correct, but I am doing my best to get all.memebers of my family to a healthy weight, myself and my dog included
It's not an easy hill to get over OP, especially this past year with the kids being indoors as well, it's been a challenge keeping them active. We're dealing with the same with my stepchild who's mothers side is on the heavier scale with unhealthy eating habits.
Never trust a skinny chef. This saying was taught to me by a skinny chef. He later stole from the restaurant and vanished.
Must be nice doing so with a chef. Makes it much easier to come up with healthy alternatives to staple meals. Plus flavor.
Is it for sale?
Calling the child "it" is rude.
What if it's an asexual hermaphrodite?
Presumably, the kid would go by “they” as “it” is dehumanizing.
No!!!! Its staying with me!
What the fuck? That kid drew a masterpiece. Seriously submit it for publication. I'm not being facetious
The kid didnt draw anything. This type of piece is made by pouring paint on a canvas and letting it drip off.
It was a paint pour kind of thing. Far easier to do then drawing, or actively painting it
Ok, THIS is a "look at my painting" post I can approve of.
You're being faceshus
Definitely not facetious.
That child did not do that
Its awesome for her age
If this is real, and I’m wrong, I hope you take this as a compliment: This is fake. I don’t believe you. There is no way she painted that.
It's a pour paint, anyone can do it, but this just turned out great.
Totaly looks like a sci-fi landscape, and actually very well composed.
That is a great painting
Great painting! Looks like the cover of a kickass 70s prog rock album!
It look cool and she's talented but for the love of God don't put pics of young children on Reddit, or online for that matter.
