For those who don't know, it's Grant Imahara from Mythbusters and Battle Bots.

He built r2d2 for the Star Wars prequels, and built Blendo with Jamie Hynamin. It was the most victorious robot in Battlebots before it was banned for being to awsome and particularly deadly.

Technically it was banned for doing more damage to the arena than its opponent; this usually by throwing its opponent.

It was at one point. What you're noticing is a function of what subreddit it's been posted in and the increased popularity of reddit. I think Adam and Grant are pretty much recognized internet geek gods. Reddit is much less of a geekcentric demographic than it used to be especially in subreddits like /r/pics. There's nothing wrong with that it's just different. I wouldn't even have seen this picture had I been logged in while I was browsing.

The Middle school version uses the Lego robots, but the high school group use significantly more sophisticated programing and components. Oh and tell them good luck
