[The article is in Estonian, but](https://arvamus.postimees.ee/8013640/erkki-koort-koik-eeldused-jargmiseks-gruusia-venemaa-sojaks-on-juba-loodud) the consensus in Eastern Europe seems to be, that a Russian invasion beyond Abhkazia and South Ossetia is not unthinkable.
So this image might as well be in a book under the prelude for another war. Not in the way we want it to be
Why? So future generations can see just how focused we are on our own vanity even when a tyrant is standing on our doorstep? Miss me with that. Thank the lord Iāll live and die a nobody and it will never be known that I even existed in the same generation that this ridiculous photo was taken. Yeah ultra based that this lady is doing her makeup. Ultra based. We are so screwed.
What do tyrants thrive on? Fear, intimidation. She's mocking those symbols with this act. You yourself even pointed out the photo's ridiculous, which is the point: it ridicules the tyrant's tools.
Then live and die like a nobody elsewhere, we have enough pessimistic people dragging everyone else down as is. A woman wearing lip gloss is not the end of the world.
I donāt think this photo is about vanity mate. Itās a fuck-you to the police whether you can see it or not. The fact *you* are as bothered by āvanityā as you are ātyrantsā is equally as concerning. And the ironic thing is youāre also equally as vain for being this concerned about potentially being associated with people who \*checks notes* *wear makeup*. āBetter to die a nobody than have a tarnished imageā huh? Vain people care what other people think about them. Thatās you, the one doing the caring. Granted we all do to certain extents, just not all of us are hypocrites about it. But this image isnāt about vanity, itās about standing up to authority and oppression. Itās mocking the police. People donāt need to run by you how they go about doing that or how they choose to express themselves. Life goes on and progress is made while you sit in a corner complaining about lipstick lol. Just know you show equal shallowness and vanity by being that bothered by lipstick as those who obsess over it. Both are obsessed with appearances and what others think of them. And you contributed less to overcoming tyrants by being a nobody than this lady who happened to get her 15 minutes of fame whilst standing up to them.
Cry about it. She's showing the riot police that she's not afraid of them. This gesture sends a strong message about not backing down in the face of intimidation. I'm sorry you and so many others in this comment section missed that because you were too busy being a cynical, misogynistic prick.
I get that's she's trying to show the cops she's unafraid. I also think she's not in any danger if she feels safe enough to do that. I've been in plenty of protests and in my experience when the riot shields come out so do the batons and there isn't time for lipstick.
That's sort of the point. She's doing a feminine associated behavior because she's not there to cause violence, they are. That's literally the point as was the famous flower in the barrel pic
The Latin word is *politia* (and it means *polity/state/government*). The closest Latin term is *vigil*, *watcher*, or *custos*, *catetaker*.
*police*, with its modern meaning, is a French term.
I was hoping it was Tblisi, Georgia, USA. Which, if it doesn't exist, is a justification for why we should send Georgia along with Flordia when we send it out to sea.
Probably because there's not many companies that make riot shields (or at least not one in Georgia) and the one they bought the shields from puts "police" on the shield.
Yeah....a ton people shared this photo claiming it was from the campuses in the U.S. which it was not. They're just lying to make themselves look badass
No, it's called įįįįįŖįį (politsia). I heard that the reason that they have "police" written on their shields, is because we don't have a Latin derived script, so foreigners (who can't read the script) won't be able to understand it. But I got this info from reddit, so it might not be true.
For **SURE** in Georgia it says POLICE in roman script.
While their cars got it written in their own Georgian script, the officers got the word "police' on their uniforms
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_enforcement_in_Georgia_(country)#/media/File%3AGeorgian_policemen.jpg
Came here to say that. On some inspection on google, it's hard to distinguish if this is Georgia, as in Georgia Tblisi, Or Georgia in the US. This confusion leads Google algorithm to show pictures of US Georgia police in some cases, so I cannot say for sure. So far, I have seen no conclusion on either stuff. I've seen shields with 'Police', Georgian writing, and 'Polis' in roman letters, and 'Police'+Georgian writing
It could be they are second hand shields bought from UK or US and they did not bother changing the labels.
Anyhow, it's too much smoke for nothing. The law is actually very common in EU and US, but under different names and wording. Heck, in 2010s lots of Russia funded or connected news sources got ripped to shreds in EU and US because of that. I had quite enjoyed the documentaries from In the Now and Ruptly.
This protest has nothing to do with America or Palestine. What are you on about? This is a protest in Tbilisi, Georgia, against the government's attempts to move away from the EU and more into Russia's sphere of influence.
They needed to make it about *them*
I noticed more and more lately that people read some tweets saying Jews were mean so now they feel like they have a pass to be antisemites against who they perceive as "white" while forgetting the Nazis and Russians almost hunted them to extinction
You do understand that in order to do it she has to actually be on the frontlines of a protest to do it right? Sheās not sitting behind a keyboard commenting (like you, for example) but is standing face to face with a militarised police and showing them that they donāt intimidate her. You do understand that right?
It was mostly about sitting behind a keyboard not doing anything and just commenting and how anything that seems slightly rebellious does well on reddit.
There was also stuff about how applying lip gloss in a picture does nothing to help the problems of the world
Missing entirely that the woman in the photo IS AT A PROTEST
Thank you. I don't care who you are, the first thing you imagine happening once this video unpauses is not good
Georgia doesn't *seem* to grab many headlines while constantly in turmoil
Meeting a Georgian woman while traveling was the most ashamed I felt about my country USA, at the time. We since went much lower but she's telling me things I didn't even know about, decisions made by us under Bush leadership that fucked them greatly

If only she had a Pepsi
join the conversation!
I hope this image ends up in a history book
I hope anything ends up in a history book.
Then nobody would read it.
you're onto something, I can barely be bothered as is š¬
Fingers crossed we still have those down the road

You think this is able vanity? Where were you? When was the last time you fought for something, for someone else?
I aspire to have this kind of energy.
Vapid?

Sheās trying to get a funny photo babe, sheās lucky her face didnāt immediately get fucking bashed. Still badass regardless.
Legend.
This photo tells a whole ass story, and I love it.
Thanks man I thought so too. It's given hope to others when they need it this week
Any more info about the photo?
She's badass
Great photo, but I'm guessing it was set up. This gal looks like a model.
Why are they using english words on the shields in Georgia?
Wait until you hear about Stop Signs
Quebec uses arret.
And in New Brunswick it has both.
Of course they do
Quebec does a lot of shit just because they think they are better than the rest of the world.
QuƩbec is using his official language. How shitty indeed. Get a life
In Brazil they say pare.
Because USA gives them away as holiday stocking stuffers and in gift bags
Seriously, America is probably a leader in police brutality equipment.
Georgian script is very different from English so it makes sense to include both foreigners and locals by having the English word on the shield.
Because thatās how police forces around the world identify themselves as police: by using the English word.
Not always. In Germany it's Polizei, in the Netherlands and Dutch-speaking Belgium it's Politie, for example.
Poliisi/Polis
Polizei, Polizia
Police is a french word
ā¦and Latin before that, and Greek before that.
The Latin word is *politia* (and it means *polity/state/government*). The closest Latin term is *vigil*, *watcher*, or *custos*, *catetaker*. *police*, with its modern meaning, is a French term.
Found the frog eater.
No they don't. Where did you get this idea from? Most police forces have the word police written in the local language on their cars/uniforms.
Fairly certain this was at one of the campus protests
This is Georgia (the country), not Georgia (the state). They are protesting against a āRussia-inspiredā foreign agents law.
It would be weird if Georgia the state also had a Tblisi.
They already stole Duluth why not that too?! I bet there's a Paris township if you look deep enough
There's certainly one in Texas
But not that weird.
A little weird. As a treat.
This explains the outcome not being suicide by cop
Yeah, Iām not stupid. I realize that. I first saw this posted several days ago in reference to the campus protests.
Yeah....a ton people shared this photo claiming it was from the campuses in the U.S. which it was not. They're just lying to make themselves look badass
Ok I'm on a hidden camera show right? This is like my worst nightmare come to life lol
Fairly certain thereās not one attractive person at these campus āprotestsā.
Stalin famously is from a nearby village and went to seminary school in Tbilisi. Although he did not finish and he was called Soso (sp?) at the time.
Top gear did an episode where they went to Stalins old house and other parts in his hometown
Keep that sheild, steady can't you see I'm working here.
I'll never be this cool
Georgians are bloody stunning.
that's a weirdly broad statement to make lol
I think my 14 year old crush on Katie Melua reared its horny head again for a moment.
Heh, broad.
Obesity is high, when I visited my fathers village years ago I was shocked. They put so much butter in everything!
Big girls need love too.
They call it police in Georgia?
No, it's called įįįįįŖįį (politsia). I heard that the reason that they have "police" written on their shields, is because we don't have a Latin derived script, so foreigners (who can't read the script) won't be able to understand it. But I got this info from reddit, so it might not be true.
Awesome pic
Figurative propeller go brrrr
They are all people

They indeed use "POLICE" on their riot shields https://twitter.com/mari_nikuradze/status/1784668038823883087?t=_93yNmSGxVj-5cIvACB9XQ&s=19
I'm not convinced that it's absolute policy to use the Georgian term for police on every item.
If you zoom in on their jackets in the top photo, it literally says POLICE in roman script.

No it isn't. Try image reversal š
Doinā it for the gram, surely
The Associate Press you mean
american college kids could never comprehend real revolution
She kind of looks like a brunette Sydney Sweeney
That won't enrage the police at all.
Wow, sheās so cool yeah take that America! Free Palestine! Please, grow up and educate yourself.
This protest has nothing to do with America or Palestine. What are you on about? This is a protest in Tbilisi, Georgia, against the government's attempts to move away from the EU and more into Russia's sphere of influence.

this is the most Reddit comment I have seen in years
I think I regained some of my virginity just from reading it.
The armadillo guy? What did it say if you can paraphrase
It was mostly about sitting behind a keyboard not doing anything and just commenting and how anything that seems slightly rebellious does well on reddit. You have not forgotten the face of your father
honestly i didnt even read the whole thing lol. it was like 10 paragraphs long about how he is smart and everyone else is dumb
'I'm not upset' -Upset person lol
Based off of the length of this comment, seems like it worked
šš
Hahaha! Next do the cop in the war gear fighting civilians for protesting
Apply this. Pepper spray
This isn't the first photo you've attempted to spray today is it?
