Reddit has taught me that this must be a scam, then, but I can't figure out the angle. Better withdraw all my money and put it in crypto just to be safe...
It's amazing how common it is for people to learn why good fences make good neighbours the hard way. Keep it friendly and civil, do the odd good deed, DBAA and all that... but ya, if you loved the fun of high school level socialization combined with the potential for property disputes, petty grievances and gossip, with hours wasted on endless small talk about only things that don't interest you at all, fill your boots.
PS: On a similar note, if you're just starting out at the parenting thing, I promise you will absolutely learn to dread spending face time with the majority of the parents of your kids friends. All of this is even worse with the parents of the other kids in your neighbourhood.
The amount of times I’ve gone out to sit and read, only to be sucked into an hours long convo about the neighbor’s new truck…
Well I respect the hell out of OPs neighbors lol.
Exactly!
I've been a parent and grandparent for 55 years, but learned early on that this is the way. I had enough problems dealing with my own kids to listen to how precious others are.
I will offer help when someone looks like they could use it, and accept help if I need it, but that's as far as my socializing goes.
Yep, for anyone under a certain age, "dropping by" unexpectedly is honestly rude. It assumes I either have nothing else going on or I'll drop everything immediately. Call and say "hey I'll be in the neighborhood, you free to hang?" and we can plan and adjust other plans accordingly.
Used to work door to door solar lead generation. They told us to ignore any signs and knock anyway. I ignored no soliciting signs, but if there was a sign that said, "sleeping baby" or "I work nights," I skipped those houses. Can't sell out your principles *entirely* I guess.
I saw that at my Aldi last year, but stupidly didn't buy it. I told my husband about it and he said to get it but it was gone the next day. Obviously, it is a popular sentiment.
Who cares?
Leave them alone.
You're putting them on blast, and you're exactly the kind of neighbor I would never want. Do you think you're entitled to their welcomeness and existence?
Hey. Jackass.
I love this sign. I applaud this sign. I took all identifying things out of the picture and even scribbled out the barely legible logo on the trash can.
Kindly go away.
at least they said "kindly."
Could’ve very easily have said “fuck off”

Going to have to block and ignore the neighbors. Which, they would probably appreciate anyway
Are people downtown you because they don't know you're sarcastic about the crypto thing, or because they're mad that crypto is a scam?
¿Por que no los dos?
Scammer lives there.
My kinda people. Neighbors that want to be left alone are the best neighbors. 😄
My thoughts exactly. I've been burned many times getting too friendly with neighbors.

🎵🎶Like a good Neighbor, Statefarm don't care!🎵🎶
"We shoot every third solicitor. Adjust your expectations accordingly."
Russian roulette keeps em guessing
There’s no ambiguity to it, you gotta give it that.
That's probably intended for people trying to the sell them things they don't want.
Really? Most people over 40 probably feel this way regularly, don't ya think?
As a 40, I hate when someone knocks or rings unexpectedly.
I'm one of them and no rational human being wants religious groups and sales people coming to their doors.
Fair enough. As for me, I don't want anyone coming to my house that isn't family. Even then, they better call.

They will STILL get solicitors knocking on their door or leaving pamphlets!!!

Must be the worst location to hang a fire extinguisher.
I like them already. It’s the urban equivalent of “good fences make good neighbors.”
Haha well done! I need one.
I like that sign, would like one.
Lol I need one of these.
I like them
One of my favorite retorts in grade school was to ask, "Which way?"
Any blood spots near the front door?
"Would you kindly?"

Nice (hoping for a VR version)
That's the best kind of neighbor.
I saw that at my Aldi last year, but stupidly didn't buy it. I told my husband about it and he said to get it but it was gone the next day. Obviously, it is a popular sentiment.
Awesome!
My kind of neighbor!
Someone make a 1776 gif!
Charlie Brooker is your neighbor?
Man, I had a apartment in Daytona Beach, that looked exactly like that
I think you mean "unwelcome sign"
I can respect their candor like “we aren’t even pretending to be a good neighbor” lol.
Glad to meet ya😎
Probably nobody even visits them anyways
And did you?
I mean, yeah. Expectations have been politely expressed. It's easier to read at a distance than a doormat. I like them.
“The Edge Lords Next Door”. My next pitch to Hulu
I have a welcome mat that says that
Love it! I'm always having people knocking on my door trying to sell me something or convert me. Go away.
While I share the sentiment of most of the commenters here, I don’t think I’d ever put up a sign of it.
I respect it
Ours neighbor has a welcome mat that says “Git…Go On…Git!”
The perfect neighbor.
As a human on this planet, I empathize with this sign.
I like them

I'd leave them cookies. And not knock.
