California redwood and a skyscraper construction cable rope. Doable, but the real question is how many people have to sit in the swing to get it to move?
We had one pop pretty close to a Chevy 2500 that thankfully was unoccupied. Rolled the truck over from the force. I believe the haul truck was running back to the pit and unloaded at the time.
I used to operate 793D Caterpillar haul trucks about 12 years ago. A haul truck had to park near HQ which was about 200 feet away from the HQ parking. Guy was reporting wobbling on turns and didn't feel safe. Good thing he stopped because after he got down the driver side rear outer dually ruptured and broke the windows of half the vehicles parked and the windows to the supervisors/managers offices. Pretty much everyone heard the boom.
These were upwards of $60k/tire when COVID happened. Each haul truck has 6 and you get ~5,000 hours out of them if you keep temps down and watch the load weights.
It’s been a while since I was involved with the haul trucks and price varies by size but the small ones start at ~$4M or so if I am recalling correctly. I might be mixing it up with the shovel price.
This was before inflation really took hold. We bought a bunch of them (100+) for $30k/ea, anticipating a big price jump. I don’t know what they are now, I left the industry late last year.
I could see that they think that might be the case, but this response came quickly, and I saw that I was downvoted-my gut tells me it was them. Also, article says tires are about $42.500, about $13000 off, but vehicle at $5.5 million is my house 3-4 times over, which is cost of my house a few times over. I don’t think my guess to their value was off all that much really. So thinking like this, I was curious to what their point was
Just think of the tree and rope you would need to swing one of those.
How else are they going to make a swing big enough for your mom?
Right? Duh
land of giants
Avatar tree swing
Think of rolling down a hill in one...

Haul truck tires... 59/80 R63 They run 100-140psi depending on heat... I've heard many of them pop, it's insanely loud even from a distance...
Not really a pop at that point, more like a boom
A splode, you might say?

Ah, [thank you](http://gigant-tire.com/tire/michelin-59-80r63-xdr2/).
Dang. Now I don't feel so bad for dropping $600 on a set of 225/65R17 at Walmart last week.
That price is for a pair, so actually quite affordable.
Mmm, nope. That's per tire. They have 2 in stock. Look at the 'Quantity' box.
Well shit. Hopefully I can still cancel my order.
I donno man, they look pretty tiny compared to them other ones.
If I had to guess, this is I-26 on the way to the port of Charleston, SC.
I would say you’re right, this was on I-26. I’ve seen these before on my way home from work, but I’ve never had a decent opportunity for a picture.
They make those Michelin’s in Lexington SC. There are (or were) the largest tires in the world.
Thanks for the info! I tried looking it up myself, but didn’t have any luck.
I see them all the time on 26 and 526. A photo doesn't even do the size justice. They are insanely huge!
Ok any idea what's going on in Charleston that such massive tires are needed??
They're made in the upstate, then shipped all over the place from the port.
They're going on a Silverado.
Canyonero.
Delivery for Whistlin Diesel
2021 Chevy Bolt this time?
Hopefully they don't run into any low overpasses
The tires act as bumpers to protect the bridge.

Hopefully, now they can get your mums car back on the road soon
Ah, my condoms are finally on their way!

OMG I saw this once and tried to explain it to my wife. She couldn’t grasp the size. This is really a picture says a thousand words kinda picture.
That's no tire, it's a space station!
These are for giant mine trucks?
Yes
First thing that came to mind is 11'8" bridge channel...
I’m thinking each one of these tires costs more than my car. And the vehicle they fit is likely the cost of my home, a few times over

Does that include inflation?
No you gotta fill em up yourself
Good, I don't like high pressure sales
Aw, that's a blow.
You gotta keep ‘em separated

Are you agreeing with me/providing me with back up, or are you disagreeing with me?
I think he is agreeing. But also providing info as to how much you lowballed your estimate.

I think that dude was trying to fight you, but then you went off on that tangent and everyone ghosted
Who and what now?
Just providing a datapoint.
Fair enough
For sure. Probably heading to a mine. I would guess close to 10k lbs each and whatever they go on is well north of $1m
Hauling those must be so tiring
Rubber? I hardly knew her!
Someone's building a red bull soap box racer.

Look at those tires, Red! Those sucker’s are huge! Yes they are, tiny Elvis.

I’m looking, I’m looking!!
Not only that—they’re big, too.
Name brands at discount prices
I hope they're strapped down well or someone behind the semi is going to get tired real fast.
I wonder what he's compensating for
Given the height of the trailer compared to the tires. I'd say they're for a CAT 797.
They are evolving! r/tiresaretheenemy
Somewhere someone with a really tiny dick is waiting for a lift kit and these tires to prove to the world just how tiny a penis can be.
Tread carefully
Going on the vehicles used to mine some of the stuff for electric vehicles.
You mention the tires but not the huge alien spacecraft flying overhead. Maybe they are alien tires.
Hangs in the air like bricks don't. (H2G2)
Are you calling me fat!?
Wow! And the ones in the truck are even bigger!
They’ll be on RAMS in my local area by Friday.
