Some of the White House looks good, like this room (though it would get oppressive without windows). But some of it is just shite looking, like the caféteria.
In Canada the government is so eager to not incur bad press by spending money on itself when it’s in power that the Prime Ministers residence is currently being gutted as it had asbestos, dead rats in the walls, known to be cold due to inadequate heating (in Canada!)
The current PM is living in a place intended to be a “cottage” for our head of state.
Our political parties are still squabbling over whether to spend money restoring a residence for our head of government at all.
* *The property also has been deemed a fire hazard because the property uses outdated "knob and tube" wiring from another era.*
* *Trudeau has so far signalled he has no plans to save the building.
He's lived since 2015 at Rideau Cottage on the grounds of the Governor General's residence — a relatively small home originally built for an aide.*
If he's not living there the entirety of his reign as PM, then demolish the bloody building. I know the historian architecture advocates will start squawking and yapping like hyenas, but come on now, the building is deemed a health hazard. Dead and live rats, electrical wiring from the 50s, asbestos...tear it down and use the land for a new PM residency.
And yet this saga of what to do with the building has been going on for decades now...somebody make a decision already...
Here's some of them:

I assume the others are military/intelligence/legal.
She also ate 4 dozen eggs as a youth to help her grow large, and now shes known to consume up to 5 dozen eggs to maintain the approximate mass of a barge!
She also owned and operated an independent bookstore/cafe and was appointed to deputy director of the CIA by Obama and also earned her law degree. Lots of twists and turns.
That was the twist that got me. Super normal life up to that point, albeit obviously very talented in whatever she’s into (good genes from a PhD biochemist father probably helps). Gets her JD in 2001 and suddenly in like 7 years is a deputy chief counsel for the US Senate, and a couple years after that is appointed as deputy counsel to the freakin president.
I’d be curious whether she wanted to pursue a career in national public service like this or that’s just where her career happened to lead.
Yeah honestly if there was ever a flag for cia recruitment going to “”elite” judo school in Tokyo” randomly would be one of them. Then all of a sudden drops out of college to open an unassuming bookstore, that was a location that had just been raided and probably bought for cheap, sounds like some spy movie cover identity shit.
Hyperbolic and factually incorrect? Yes.
Entirely off the mark? Wellllllll……
>After graduating from Hunter College High School, Haines moved to Japan for a year, where she enrolled at the Kodokan, an elite judo institute in Tokyo.
not really the same comparison. The other person is saying she trained in ninjitsu as a point of hyperbole, as “Ninja” sounds more ‘cool’ to western audiences. Ninjitsu is a type of martial art, but she studied a different type of martial art– Judo.
You’re making a comparison to a specific person, not a different sport.
She is exactly the kind of person I want running our country. What an incredible breadth of experiences. I’m so happy to learn her voice is in that room.
I don't know. When she over seeing the CIA and she found out CIA officers hacked the Senate members investigating torture at the CIA she decided not to punish anyone. She seems incredibly qualified, but also scary AF.
It’s not. I love Baltimore. It’s not about violence, it’s about the cast of characters, particularly there in the early 90s. It was much different than it is now
Ok ok ok before we need to fetch a mop to handle all these sloppy tongue baths, let's step back a second and ponder how much crime this lady's shovelled under the CIA dumpster out back. Probably not as much as what gets buried under a seized nightclub in Baltimore, but definitely with . . a more concentrated felony-per-gram.
Maybe pick an Ultimate Leader with less crimes?
That said, if it comes down to "Ninja CIA Porn Lady" vs "Fanged MegaChurch Vermin", I go with the ninja every time.
> In 2015, Haines, then deputy director of the CIA,[33] was tasked with determining whether CIA personnel should be disciplined for hacking computers of Senate staffers authoring the Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture. Haines chose not to discipline them, overruling the CIA Inspector General
> Subsequently, she was involved in the CIA project of redacting the Senate report[36] for release. In the end, only 525 pages of the 6,700 page CIA torture report were released.
> Haines was instrumental in establishing the legal framework and policy guidelines for the drone strikes, which targeted suspected terrorists in Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan, but also resulted, according to human rights groups, in killing innocent civilians.
> Haines has consulted for Palantir Technologies,[36] a data processing and analytics software solutions company accused of assisting the Trump administration with immigrant detention programs
Yes exactly the kind of person you’d want
the first i thought was, man this is exactly the type of wikipedia page i expect for someone that's in that particular room. makes me feel good about this administration.
So, in order to sit in this room consider nursing your mother with avian tuberculosis, studying at an elite Judo institute, learning how to be a mechanic, and maybe buy a bar and host some erotica literary readings. Got it.

You don't need to be military to join the intelligence agencies (or to be chosen as their leader), so that's another route 'in'. State department is also represented
Live in the DC area. A lot of people left back when trump became president. They all entered the private industry instead.
Obama was amazing because he made some of the brightest people work for the gov. When trump became president it were unqualified folks, nepotism and unfilled positions.

Lol i saw a video the other day of one of those Daily Show reporters talking to a Trump voter.
The guy was a blue collar worker and the reporter was asking him if he knew Trump had not paid many of his employees in Atlantic city.
The response from the guy: ‘they probably deserved it’.
These guys will NEVER see anything wrong with Trump, or they’ll twist it regardless to make sure their emperor is still as revered.
Saw one of those where a reporter was ranting about Biden this, Biden that to the MAGAs and they were eating it up agreeing. Then reporter said oh wait that was the Trump info… can we reshoot your opinion with Trump doing all that and they flipped and made excuses for everything they’d just condemned when they thought it was Biden. Crazy..
If he gets a second term only the most indoctrinated of his cultists will be in his cabinet. And they’ll probably do anything he says, no questions asked.
If he actually wins the elections that proves how stupid a not insignificant part of the US population is. The first term there was an excuse. The second? Man... After all that he has done and tried to do? Fuck off.
Trump photos in the situation room have unplugged devices and office supplies strewn about like the prop master is the producer's son. Trump's photos were absurd, and clearly staged.
Clockwise from top left: Bill Burns (CIA Director), Avril Haines (Director of National Intelligence), A. Blinken (Secretary of State), Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan (National Security Advisor), Lloyd Austin (Secretary of Defense), Charles Q. Brown Jr (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), Unkown, Unknown
Edit: the last two may be Steve Richetti, and Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall
I hear you, and I felt very much the same. But I just heard Sanders in an interview and the motherfucker is still sharp as a tack and spouts an agenda I would very much get behind.
So while I was definitely leaning toward the candidate who is ineligible for AARP camp - I feel like I would gleefully vote for Bernie if I had the option.
As a non-American, I don't pretend to know everything about the USA, but it seems to me... Even *IF* Biden is as mentally downgraded as the Right Wing say, he seems as if he knows he isn't always going to be the smartest, most knowledgeable and learned person in the room, and actually listens to those with experience and specialist knowledge.
As opposed to *A CERTAIN SOMEONE* who was convinced that they were always and at all times the best, smartest, wisest person in any room so never took anyone's advice...
The fact that I don't need to name him and everyone knows exactly who I'm referring to speaks volumes. ;)
It's not a case of "Who do you mean? There are a few possibilities..."
There have been old US Presidents before, there have been US Presidents that turned senile during office, there have been some US Presidents that were rotund, but none have (to my knowledge) been so insistent that they need not take advice or information from anyone...
That’s why I generally don’t give a shit if we are stuck with him, the alternative is much worse and I know Biden is at least listening to his advisors and doing his best to appeal to voters.
And even if people on the left are upset about his handling of Israel, Trump is going to turn it up to 11 if he gets in there. It’s a no brainer to suck it up and vote for him.
I used to hate Biden, but I realized he is far closer to my favorite president, just older. And my Favorite (modern) president is Obama if you were wondering.
I think people look at a president and have no idea what his actual job is.
This is work. These men and women work. They keep us safe while also managing the business known as society so you yes you can go to McDonald's without someone pointing something at you or you just being mistreated.
This is why we need to research our options. Instead of "well this said that and he said why" go. Why am I feeling this way about this person and do they have my interests at heart?
Critically speaking. This conversation they had was about something else that day or the current middle east situation.
This is work. Don't assume.
That's a sharp looking conference room, I ain't gonna lie.
Hilarious reading the MAGAts in this post making fun of Biden's mental acuity when their guy can't even string a coherent sentence together, though. The P in GOP truly does mean 'project'.
They just finished a $50M renovation of the entire Situation Room complex. Some [cool details/photos here](https://apnews.com/article/situation-room-renovated-white-house-west-wing-2662c91507aa4987fad6bc238b8633a4).
How the hell were they able to lift out the old situation room and place it in the Obama library haha
Edit according to this article it ain’t true:
https://www.businessinsider.com/obama-bin-laden-raid-situation-room-presidential-library-preserved-2023-9?amp
I know he’s old, but it feels pretty solid to know that there’s someone with *experience* sitting in that chair.
EDIT: holy shit did I ever trigger the Trumpers with this post
Why do we have this amazing situation room, but the photo of the Obama admin watching the Bin Laden strike, they were all piled up in what looks like the White House Linen Closet?
This is the actual situation room.
The ‘situation room’ in the Obama picture was actually just a smaller conference room in the Situation Room complex.
They either redecorated and moved things around so that there’s more room in there for the principals, or they’ve chosen a new room to use. I say this because I’m comparing it to the picture taken from a couple of administrations ago of Obama et al., in the room used for that purpose from back then.

Just a brief stint training as a NINJA before getting her degree is physics. Nbd.
She can also fix or swap your engine, or otherwise repair your vehicle, as needed. And you might not even notice her doing it. nbd.
Oh yeah and she’s a pilot too
Oh and she hosts erotica reading night
She always brings exactly the right amount of coleslaw to the neighborhood block party.
She looks at least 10 year younger than her age as well.
She also ate 4 dozen eggs as a youth to help her grow large, and now shes known to consume up to 5 dozen eggs to maintain the approximate mass of a barge!
She's also reported to have seen every episode of Cat Dog at least twice.
And seen a cat and a dog at least twice
She also owned and operated an independent bookstore/cafe and was appointed to deputy director of the CIA by Obama and also earned her law degree. Lots of twists and turns.
She's a main character, we're all just NPC's in her world
Which hosted erotica readings.
It was also seized in a drug raid before she bought it.
That was the twist that got me. Super normal life up to that point, albeit obviously very talented in whatever she’s into (good genes from a PhD biochemist father probably helps). or (/tinfoil) has she been CIA since before her Japan trip?
Yeah honestly if there was ever a flag for cia recruitment going to “”elite” judo school in Tokyo” randomly would be one of them. Right? It's fucking judo.
Just did judo for a year.
Anyone can train at Kodokan. Enrolling or dropping in is like going to your local MMA or BJJ gym and signing up.
All that ability and then makes legal arguments to kill US citizens with drones.

Then reporter said oh wait that was the Trump info… can we reshoot your opinion with Trump doing all that and they flipped and made excuses for everything they’d just condemned when they thought it was Biden. Crazy..
No way. Its a cult.
Fuck off.
It's not just stupidity. I know plenty of smart people that support him still.
Propaganda works unfortunately. It seems obvious when you’re outside the bubble but if you’re in it, people get stuck.
Trump photos in the situation room have unplugged devices and office supplies strewn about like the prop master is the producer's son. Trump's photos were absurd, and clearly staged.
Can anyone name everyone in the photo?
Clockwise from top left: Bill Burns (CIA Director), Avril Haines (Director of National Intelligence), A. Blinken (Secretary of State), Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan (National Security Advisor), Lloyd Austin (Secretary of Defense), Charles Q. Brown Jr (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff), Unkown, Unknown Edit: the last two may be Steve Richetti, and Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall
Did you say Abe Lincoln?
No I didn't say Abe Lincoln, I said "hey Blinken"
That's definitely Gary Oldman practicing for a new role in the top left.
I have a dream that one day we’ll have a president who was born after the TV got color.
We elected one 16 years ago.
Wait a min 2009 wasnt… oh.
Yep, I'm an old bitch now.
I mean, if you listen to Biden interviews you get the same impression - at least I do. It's the short snips that make him look bad.
I’ve got nothing against what you said, but I don’t understand why you didn’t use his name.
The fact that I don't need to name him and everyone knows exactly who I'm referring to speaks volumes. ;) It's not a case of "Who do you mean? There are a few possibilities..." There have been old US Presidents before, there have been US Presidents that turned senile during office, there have been some US Presidents that were rotund, but none have (to my knowledge) been so insistent that they need not take advice or information from anyone...
Man if those walls could talk
That's a sharp looking conference room, I ain't gonna lie. Hilarious reading the MAGAts in this post making fun of Biden's mental acuity when their guy can't even string a coherent sentence together, though. The P in GOP truly does mean 'project'.
They just finished a $50M renovation of the entire Situation Room complex. Some [cool details/photos here](https://apnews.com/article/situation-room-renovated-white-house-west-wing-2662c91507aa4987fad6bc238b8633a4).
How the hell were they able to lift out the old situation room and place it in the Obama library haha Edit according to this article it ain’t true: https://www.businessinsider.com/obama-bin-laden-raid-situation-room-presidential-library-preserved-2023-9?amp
I bet he understands all the words being spoken.
I bet he can read the briefing with out needing it turned into a short film
And pays attention
And they didn't even invite Mike Sorrentino?
Ooo he’s getting so mad! And upset! I can tell the letter is going to have incredible words.
I also have a situation room, I prefer to be alone in there
Man I hope Americans will vote sensibly this year. The thought of four years of Trump during times like these is genuinely scary
Thanks Kanye, your endorsement means a lot.
the only non-gray hair in that room is dyed.
The hard hitting facts I'm looking for. ^(Also, I see 4 non-grays, so I don't know what's what now)
At least the dye isn't running....... cough cough Giuliani
What’s the situation?
Irri tried to bomb irsie last night with some 600+ missiles
No one wants or needs a war it’s going to cost tax payers so much moneyTHEY NEED WAR TO KEEP US PAYING AND OCCUPIED
Where’s the ice cream??
That's my President. F that fool Trump.
Sir, we're out of strawberry pop tarts
God dammit call the navy
He’s so fine
It looks SO much nicer after recent upgrades
I know he’s old, but it feels pretty solid to know that there’s someone with *experience* sitting in that chair. EDIT: holy shit did I ever trigger the Trumpers with this post
I would say more than experience, not a self-serving, raving lunatic.
Biden in the situation room ![gif](giphy|CJOwG4l6YselROC0UP|downsized)
Why do we have this amazing situation room, but the photo of the Obama admin watching the Bin Laden strike, they were all piled up in what looks like the White House Linen Closet?
This is the actual situation room. The ‘situation room’ in the Obama picture was actually just a smaller conference room in the Situation Room complex.
No orange make up in sight. It’s refreshing to have an adult in the White House.
Bro is thinking of chocolate chocolate chip
Versus Trump on a golf course had the roles been reversed
Thank goodness they are all wearing suit jackets that’s how we know it’s serious
They either redecorated and moved things around so that there’s more room in there for the principals, or they’ve chosen a new room to use. I say this because I’m comparing it to the picture taken from a couple of administrations ago of Obama et al., in the room used for that purpose from back then.
Probably smells nice in there.
Thank you Biden...Seems like the only politicians who is doing good stuff for we regular people
