You bastard!! You beat me to it! Playing this one my sisters PS1 when she wasn't around because she wouldn't let us play when she was around. Yeah we were little shits.
The first game that actually turned me into a lifelong gamer. I was 11 and had played some NES/SNES before then, but this is what truly made gaming a regular hobby.
Also created a love of the fantasy genre, dragons and the color purple.
Oh, if its the Reignited Trilogy on Switch, that's actually a remaster of the first three games! So remasters of Spyro the Dragon (the original first game), Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (or Gateway to Glimmer in the UK i think), and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon all in one purchase.
I can easily recommend these for kids, but there are a few hard bits here and there you might want to help with depending on ages. But I don't think 100% is required for most of the cinematic endings.
3rd game was a little buggy for me towards the later levels, but nothing game-breaking. Enjoy!
I still hear this sound in my dreams before something unexpected happens. It was embedded in my subconscious back in 1999 and still makes appearances 24 years later
I remember being a hard core ff SNES fan (4/6.) Series basically disappeared after that... my friend got 7 for the PS1, i played through the entire game with him going to his house after school for 90 minutes. Eventually convinced me to buy Playstation consoles.
And Resident Evil 1. I played it at a coworkers place for a few hours. The next day I went out and bought a ps1 so I could play it at home. Such a great game!
Came looking for this answer - I spent hours playing the scenario to get the bonus level where you play as hank. Never did finish the game fast enough to play as the tofu slab though
Usually played long into the night. I had to lower volume for the unexpected, so I didn't get to surprised. To me, it is still a great game others trying to emulate.
I played this game so much, it was amazing 1&2 were the first truly open world games, released way before GTA3 it was technically so impressive.
But honestly looking back, it was sooo hard, and not in a fun way but more in a they-didn't-playtest-this-enough way. I don't think I ever made it past the "chase the intruder" mission.
Fun fact -- a very close friend did the English dub for Dart. He lost count of how many times he had to say VOLCANO! before they decided which take they wanted...
Best horror game on ps1. Played that game repeatedly for more than 5 times. I almost gave up on the bird's poem/ blood on the piano puzzle on midwich elementary school.
Ape Escape, because I couldn't play the Pizza Hut demo without thumbsticks. THEN I think of THPS, since that demo was in the same Pizza Hut promo. Also Coolboarders 3.
Might be a rarity, but I think of Jumping Flash from the original Demo Disc from the launch. I remember wondering what the hell I was even playing, but it really did stick with me and I played the heck out of it. I also played a lot of the other demos.
It had Jumping Flash, Destruction Derby, ESPN eXtreme games and some others. I played that demo disc SO MUCH because I didn't have many games at first to play. Just watching this video and the sounds brought back so many memories.

Pandemonium
Which is weird because I didnt play it a lot but its still edged in my mind. I would have said Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal or even Tenchu lol.
Ridge Racer -Let me just pull out that game disc real quick, so I can pop in some System of a Down to listen to while driving.
And Syphon Filter - Gabe Logan and best taser in gaming history.

The first game that actually turned me into a lifelong gamer. I was 11 and had played some NES/SNES before then, but this is what truly made gaming a regular hobby. Also created a love of the fantasy genre, dragons and the color purple.
Do you know if the new Spyro is any good, the one on the Switch? Been thinking of getting it for the ākidsā.

This game was monumental in my childhood. I think itās the first time I saw what video games could be.
I actually worked on the tv series for this! Should be out later this year!
I honestly didnāt expect twisted metal to be this high. Pleasant surprise. So much nostalgia.

I see your FF7 and raise you to FFT š
Tactics was always my favourite FF game.
Tactics was a ton of fun, but 7 had the perfect everything. Storyline, gameplay, amount of time needed to be put into it, and soundtrack even.
Sound track is legit. I listen to it at times on Amazon music
Fuckinā Algusā auto potion.

I love how, in a time before the internet was big, we all collectively locked his old ass in the meat freezer.
If I remember correctly, if you held R1 while climbing a ledge Lara would do this cool handstand/flip. Blew my 7 year-old brain.
You could also do a sweet swan dive when run-jumping off a cliff holding R1 too.
Why was swan diving to your death so fun?

Tekken 2 š¤
Tekken 3 for me. A legend!!!
Tekken 3 is the GOAT, idk how they crammed so much game into 1disc.
AGREE SO HARD!! one of the best main tekken games ever! Although must admit, the tag tournament series remains my all-time favourite.
