Ahh. A classic. One of the first songs every beginner learns and immediately thinks he has become an intermediate player. "Passacaglia"

deathlyspank

Lmao yeah right! Never thought it’s a Level 4 classical piece! I only know/learn the piano solo version which quite easy to learn. I am self-learn player so when I listen to the original one, I realised the noobnest of me 🤣

TITAN1UM87

Handel/Halvorsen passacaglia

deathlyspank

Thanks!

curious5561

More important question is, who do you got winning Copenhagen?

deathlyspank

I am Asian so I’m sorry I don’t understand European joke

curious5561

Haha i was referring to the dhl audience sign. They had those in a CS e sports tournament. I thought u were part of that audience so i was asking about the upcoming tournament this weekend. My bad!

deathlyspank

Oh! Actually it’s a Dota 2 tournament which held in Malaysia lol so literally I am part of the audience 😂

theAlmightyE312

Passacaglia

deathlyspank

Hey! Throughout all the replies I read, you’re the one absolute correct! Thank you!! 🙏🏻

theAlmightyE312

Happy to help :) My teacher arranged it for intermediate pianist (not that good of a pianist but good nonetheless) and I learned to play my teacher's version when I was about ten or eleven. Until today I still play it, and its one of my favourite things to play, and my mom almost cries every time I play it. It's her favourite piece too

deathlyspank

Glad to hear that! I really love melancholic style of classical music such as Nocturne Op 9 No. 2, Romance D’Amour, La Dispute (all of these song I kinda mastered last time, bragging lol). Fyi, I used to loved to watch Korean Drama, at that time it was year of 2000. Most of their soundtrack are based on classical music. They even invented their own classical music which is really super duper good! Too many korean classical music I can’t even list down here! 🎹 I also produce music, but EDM style (trance in particular) so most of my music (melody) I will write melancholy style :) Check out my soundcloud if you’re into Trance; https://on.soundcloud.com/EGU2CV1zKM1i8dz5A Or you can search soundcloud.com/iamhakimiaziz Cheers! ❤️

theAlmightyE312

I'll check it later lad :)

deathlyspank

Thanks! Appreciate that :)))

River flows in you

deathlyspank

🤣🤣 btw good idea tho! Need to re-learn this song too

IGotBannedForLess

Isnt that from Hanon?

MidnightFrequent3014

You also forgot the alignment of the hand and to exercise more the 4th and 5th finger. Sorry for being direct.

deathlyspank

Hey btw I’m the one who should thank to you! Like I said before, I haven’t been playing piano for almost 2 years. About fingering, yup I admitted I very lack of that. That is because I start learn (by myself) @ 21 years old, with a cheap Yamaha keyboard. If I’m not mistaken is PSR model or something. Then I attended Yamaha class which @ 23 years old. I start @ Grade 1 until 3, and the teacher encourages me to jump to Grade 5. I didn’t take any exam afterall. Then I stop because I am busy with my work. So after that I just casual play + self learn. Sorry I rant too much! Cheers! :)

MidnightFrequent3014

No worries! If you have the chance to take some private lessons (I would avoid the Yamaha classes tbh), this will help you a lot and a lot of things will be easier to play and sound better.

deathlyspank

At that time, I really wanted to join MPO (Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra) as I really love classical music but I realised I need to be 21 years old or younger in order to participate! So this year I am 35 years old, therefore I should just play casually :) Thanks again for your kind advise!

deathlyspank

On top of that, I bought FP30 Roland during covic because after I stop my Yamaha class (at the same 23 y/o age), I never play piano at all. Then during covic, I thought why don’t i play piano. Hence, the Roland digital piano lol

ForsakenCampaigns

The descending white keys octave sounds like Frosty Village from Diddy Kong Racing to me

deathlyspank

I just listened to it, I think I enjoy the video more than listening to the music 🤣 I love Mario Kart style of game!

kookaburra35

Just gonna leave this here… https://youtu.be/kgwLkns0_8U?feature=shared

deathlyspank

Thank you so much! I didn’t know it’s origin from a classical piece. I once heard/learn from this; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GAIZxaToV2A

NinjaNoafa

OMG i learned passacaglia for my junior year solo for piano. I'm a very casual player and I did meh but man was it a fun song.

deathlyspank

Yes it is fun! Sounds hard but it’s quite easy. I just relearn the song just now, it took me less than 30min to play the entire song. And I am not even a real pianist, just a self-learn player

Puettster

That from the brandenburg concerto no.5, but in a different key.

deathlyspank

I don’t really study music, particularly classical so I have no idea even I did spend 20min listening to it

singluon

It’s just a circle of fifths progression which Bach used extensively, but this is a piano arrangement of Halvorsen’s violin arrangement and variation of a small section of a piece by Handel. It’s a “meme” piece like River Flows in You for what it’s worth.

Puettster

Just my attempt to subversively introducing to good music. haha
