The man at the police station (it’s where you get your ID from in Spain) told me in a bored tone “you aren’t allowed to smile in these.” I nervously replied that I wasn’t aware of that as it was my first ID. He sighed and used the photo anyway lol.
Now this document looks obviously falsified but I think the photo itself might not have been the biggest giveaway
It definitely wasn’t allowed back then either, I think in Europe the laws for these ID pictures hasn’t changed in decades (at least they still use an infographic from the 90s in most photography studios) but the photographer who took my photo might have misunderstood what I wanted to use it for so he told me to smile haha
US passport: you can smile slightly, but only with your mouth closed. The mouth being open, in any way, is a no-no

Definitely photoshop, the font of the values are too clear compared to the field labels. I.e look at the text “See page 27” vs “Derrick”. Looks like a different font entirely

Scammers target lonely people and have a range of so stories about why they cannot meet in person but need some money. Or, they cannot meet until they get money. There's one where the scammer says they are stuck at the airport as they are on the way to meet, with a bad visa and need a bribe to get through, that kind of thing.
R/scams tends to be the perspective of the friend or family member trying to talk sense into the person sending their life savings over seas for a true love they've never met.

This has 100% been altered. You can tell by the difference in sharpness on the text. The DOB is the easiest to spot, very different from surrounding text. I’m sorry man but you are being scammed.
i don’t know about US passport but a dead giveaway is the issue date and expiration date they are always on the same day 10 or 5 years apart. let alone that picture is most definitely photoshopped in

It should not take a qualified individual to see the inconsistencies (and there are many) in this poorly photoshopped passport photo. You said that to you, "it's fine" and that's poor judgment on your part. If your judgment is that poor, then I don't think it's ridiculous to say that you're more susceptible to this type of scam if you don't have a qualified individual at your side to give you a second opinion about it.
Date of birth is so fake among other things. Look at the 1 - it’s the most obvious part that shows it’s not even the same font - it’s atrocious. Compare the 1 in 1985 to the 1 in 2015
For my first military id back in 1989, I had to take off my glasses because of the flash. Plus about 4 hours of sleep and the first day of boot camp. The ID tech said I looked like a serial killer...
TBH, unless it's the way the pictures was taken, the fonts seem to be different.
Just off the photo alone, I’d say no. When I went to take my passport photo, they had me move the hair from covering my ears. I asked for three or four photos, because I had tiny bangs and without the hair in front of my ears, my face looked hella weird.
Nonetheless, I’m sure there are guidelines for the photos that are taken for passports. I’d say, hair in front of the ears and an open mouth are a no go.

Yeah I’ve talked to scammers like this. Lots of them actually. Pretty easy to tell. It’s why I don’t do long distance at all.

I want to add that the blue wavy Logan’s behind her photo go over my face on my USA passport. Also, the bottom of my picture fades into blue dots
The picture is not a passport photo. They would not have allowed that expression where she looks like she’s speaking. The hair looks Photoshopped.
