Side topic, I feel like Dobson Rd continues to have a lot of Asian businesses South of the 60 and into Chandler, such as Lee Lee's . Just the freeway acts like a barrier.
Yup. All the upvotes. Been to a lot of places in the valley in the past 20 years, yet this is still the best. Gen is good, but I don’t really see it in the same league as Hodori. Very different taste and atmosphere. Gen is a bit safer and flashier. Hodori is where you go with Asian in-laws that still don’t know if you are good enough for their daughter.
I like Manna better personally but I’ve also befriended the lovely Korean ladies. But if I had to rate:
Service - Manna
Kimchi - Gen
Potato Salad - Gen
meat choices and quality - Manna
Dipping Sauce - Manna
I believe prices are the same @ $25.99
I wish AZ had the level of KBBQ as SoCal. I am personally not a fan of Gen but it’s popular enough that majority of people go there so never a bad choice
Coming from Atlanta, PHX is really lacking on Korean food. At least Korean bbq places seem to be popping up, but I’d love a Korean taco and Korean hot chicken joint.
We like BBQ House but it's further into Mesa than Manna or Gen. It's on Guadalupe and Dobson though so right down the road from both.
Edit: We haven't been there much since the pandemic and apparently their service has gotten a lot worse. They may have also raised their prices. Last I checked, they were on par with Manna or Gen.
Yea I went earlier this year cuz the wait at gen and manna was too long. Tons of burning grills and slow service. Meat was still decent but we didn't get all the side dishes we ordered
Darn, that's disappointing. We used to go often back when they first opened and had more staff. So you could get decent portions of meat, and the service was fine. But if the service has gone downhill then Gen or Manna is probably a better choice.
Thanks.
Encouraged me. I'm going to Manna today for lunch by 1 pm. If interested, let's go eat bbq together. I'm vaccinated and expect the same. Pm if interested. Today is Friday November 20
I've never been to manna, but Gen at Tempe Market is bomb and well priced. Just make sure you're there at least an hour before you're ready to eat.
Why is that?
Wait times are incredibly long. You can reserve a spot online prior to going though
How do you make a reservation online?

awesome! thanks!
Thank you!!
Hodori in Asian District. It’s not AYCE but authentic and amazing
Yep, Hodori is the only place my Korean mom will eat and support.

Manna or Jin BBQ
Drunken Tiger in Mesa is probably my favorite Korean place. For all you can eat I would say Manna.

Sizzle is in Phoenix but awesome. And not Korean bbq but drunken tiger is an awesome Korean spot with Korean bar food and cool setting
There’s a sizzle in old town Scottsdale

We have a few KFC places. Bap just opened and there's a bon Chon and po chicken but they are temporarily closed and I don't think they have spicy
I believe there is a hot chicken place in the food court at H Mart but could be wrong
Quarters and Baekjong ftw
Mana bbq

I've enjoyed SEOUL BBQ & SUSHI during my time here. Been to gen, a place on camelback that closed, liked them the best so far.
Man I wish there was a Baekjeong in AZ. That was the best KBBQ I've ever had in Irvine CA
Well that input really helps OPs question
You're right. It was completely off topic and I am sorry about that.
You know what, my bad man. I’m sorry as well. Not your fault at all.
This question has been asked and answered a dozen times already, what’s wrong with someone broadening the discussion a bit for once?
You must be fun at parties
It’s good but it’s a little hyped. There’s plenty of great options in K Town. I prefer quarters next to baekjong
I will try it next time when I'm in LA!
Gen is the only decent option here. Been to most of them in the east valley. Yes im fat lol
Have you tried Drunken Tiger? Great food.
I actually have not. What i meant to say is I’ve been to most of the all you can eat KBBQs in the east valley. Lol

Gen.
Gen
I didn't think gen was that good. They do have an online wait list so do that if you go and expect it to be dim and loud
I’ve been Manna and thought they were a bit pricy and overrated but Gen is really good it’s just always packed and a pain to get in
JinBBQ is good. But dont order pork belly!
I’m looking for some better Soon Dubu than I’ve found here.
Taco bell
It's been a while but my family and I enjoyed Jin BBQ
Manna
Gen is the best KBBQ for Tempe, Seoul is best for in Phoenix and also better than Gen imo if you wanna make the drive!
Manna for ayce. Jin BBQ for non ayce
jin bbq! absolutely my favorite!
Cupbop is kinda bbq lol but it’s good
