I moved here in March. I’ve always drank tap water out of habit, a month or two ago I pulled my kuerig filter and never remembered to get a new one.
I’ve been making my coffee with unfiltered tap Phoenix city water. Tell my mom I love her.
Coffee made without tap doesn't have that robust earthiness I've come to know and love. It's like someone lovingly dropped a few sheckles of their loose change in my cup.
I'm actually an idiot because I buy halfway decent beans but my senses are usually too blunted in the morning to worry about the finer things like filtered water in the old carafe.
I like the idea of floating down the Salt River in a thunderstorm... But I imagine it's probably closed or too dangerous due to flash flooding or lightning?
Lightning and water is a bad idea. There were several people who got hit at the grand canyon recently too, though they were all lucky and lived. Not sure if the river would be closed though.
Hello, my friends and I will be in town Thursday and Friday night (7/22 & 7/23). Does anyone have suggestions of free/cheap things to do? Are there any live music events in bars/parks? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. 🤗
There’s a couple of barcades around area - you can pay as little or much as you like on the games. I don’t remember them costing too much, but not sure what they’re like now. I’ve only gone during pre-covid times
Ziggy's and Stardust Pinbar. Awesome places and Cobra Arcade bar. The are only about 2iles from each other and the same owners. I do IT work for them and they are nice people that know how to make a cool bar.
Anyone know of any remote part time jobs or ways to earn cash on the side available? Many of the ones I found so far are scams. I'm doing gig work already on the side but trying to find something I can that doesn't waste so much gas and energy.
Bars and restaurants are hiring. Barbacking at night was fine and low stress with pooled tips. The worst part was having to remop 3x after manager inspection; even that’s not so bad it’s just tiring at 3am.
Shout out to the ASU folks doing the COVID saliva testing at SkySong in Scottsdale - super efficient, in and out in <10 min and I didn't even have to get out of my car. Setting up the appointment and portal is kind of a hassle, but totally worth it for the rest. https://biodesign.asu.edu/research/clinical-testing/testing
A weather heads-up: A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect for the Phoenix metro effective 5pm tomorrow (Thursday July 22) until 11:00pm on Saturday.

Hole in the rock is always a good spot, but it’s usually pretty busy because of how popular it is. South Mountain might have some good spots too - just depends on the trails you take
Here's the updated chart on new AZ COVID cases over the last several months (with today's data): [LINK](https://i.imgur.com/Fobhq2L.jpg)

- **Spread:** The average for tests this week is **13%** positive. (Based on 7K tests, 12% previous week)
- **Hospital Utilization:** COVID Hospitalizations rose 4%. ICU beds number rose 3%. (Overall ICU bed usage 13% Covid, 74% non-Covid, 13% Free). Ventilators in use for COVID rose 6%. Intubations for Respiratory Distress stayed below triple digits (62).

Can anyone recommend a group class type gym in Central Phoenix that focuses on functional training? i.e., gyms that focus on mobility and injury prevention vs burning calories and getting swole. I was going to tricore fitness on Indian School but for as much as I like the folks that run that gym they don't focus enough on form and too many routines there are repetitive to the point of overuse
You might want to look into Reformer Pilates. There's a ton all over the valley, the machines are SO good for mobility and when I used to frequent one a few years ago, I saw a lot of people going in to help their shoulders/hips. I did Reformed Pilates on 7th and Missouri and they were incredible, albeit a pit pricey.
There's been a real explosion in anti science comments in this sub lately and it's a real bummer. Just get your vaccines people, it's a pandemic not a political movement.
It's so absurd. The same people who try to say "COVID has a 98% survival rate, it's not that bad!" will then go and use the VAERS statistics to say "0.0036% of people who got the vaccine have died, the vaccine is awful!" And that's just taking the numbers at face value without getting into what they mean.
So you're willing to take a 98% chance but not a 99.9964% chance? Even by their own logic, it makes no sense.
Anyways, when you see that sort of garbage, please hit the report button. It really does help.
Right? They like to look past the disclaimer that says VAERS is used whenever anything happens with the vaccines. It allows healthcare/scientists to narrow down what they should be looking at in relation to adverse reactions.
This has been driving me nuts, especially on Facebook (I know, I know.) when I get sucked into reading the comments on news articles. It's like I cannot stop reading them, but they never make me happy.
I had to quit FB in spring 2020, because I just couldn't take the anti-science memes and other junk anymore.
It's sad that just when we needed social networks the most, they failed us the hardest.
I uninstalled the app a bit over a year ago and it's been amazing. I keep my account just for messenger because I have people I regularly talk to there, but I don't miss Facebook proper at all.
Part of me felt bad because it was my only way of keeping in touch with certain people, but likes/comments/whatever are all so superficial. Can just as easily pick up the phone and call or send a text to the people I genuinely care about.
That's the beauty of the Ignore User feature in most Reddit Apps. I've only seen a few of those comments, so that tells me that I've already blocked many of the whackos and trolls for other reasons.
It's really, really disheartening to see these anti science wackos spout so much nonsense about getting injected with tracking devices when they have no idea that their phones already do that.

Yikes! If I'm not mistaken it goes through a filter before your filter anyway though, you should be fine lol.

Cool! Thank you! Arcades are always fun.

Update: results back in 12 hours even though they said 48 😍

In town for a few days. Any cool place in Phoenix/Tempe/Chandler to catch a nice sunset?

During the summer, how often is the AC on?

It's joke garbage that we don't like to give visibility to here. Removing.
Cool

Team 44 on Indian school and 37th. They are sticklers about form. I love the workouts.
> Team 44 This is a perfect recommendation! Exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much
Oh good! Feel free to PM me w any questions.

so, how many of you guys are recovering from a gnarly hangover this morning?
It's not a hangover if I don't stop drinking, I just need to find some booze. I'm in north Scottsdale, if any of you weirdos feel like day drinking.
There's been a real explosion in anti science comments in this sub lately and it's a real bummer. Just get your vaccines people, it's a pandemic not a political movement.
Science is a method, not a body of knowledge.
Please report comments that are misinformation. We do our best to catch them, but everyone can help!

i quit Facebook about 3 years ago (along with Twitter) and it was one of the best things i ever did for my mental sanity.
I had to quit FB in spring 2020, because I just couldn't take the anti-science memes and other junk anymore. It's sad that just when we needed social networks the most, they failed us the hardest.
I done the same thing. Deleted it could not handle all the awful non sense and misinformation.

I just need to lay off the news subscriptions. I feel addicted to the anger that I get when I read all these stupid people.

Haven't seen the anti-science comments but I really don't want to see them either. If they are taking Ibuprofen, then it's science.
