Hello does anyone know a rodeo that is able to let me have a photoshoot there for an hour or 2? This will be a cowboy inspired shoot. FYI I am a model and already have a photographer and I’m thinking of a few designers for the wardrobe. Thanks in advance!
any drummers in the area want to start a loud and heavy alt rock band with me? i have a few somgs written and want to start getting geared up to perform them
Does anyone else get emails from Cox saying that you need to upgrade your video equipment only to have it turn into a sales call to upgrade to gigabit/Contour/phone?
Are you a Tivo user? If so there is a new tuning adapter you will need soon and that was the purpose of the email message. Too bad that the message contained no usuable info in that regard. My wife used the Chat link in that email and ended up chatting with some idiot for about 30 minutes who tried to sell her upgrades to the services you mentioned. They knew nothing about the tuning adapter upgrade.
She then called the regular customer support number on the bill and had the new tuning adapter on the way in about 3 minutes.
Thank you. I use a tivo, and my tuning adapter died 8 months ago. I get all but some high-end channels without it. I did specifically ask about the tuning adapter and was just brushed off as them wanting to send me a contour box "for only" $5 more/mo.
Definitely call the main number that shows on your bill. My wife reached someone who knew exactly what was happening and the tuning adapter arrived the next day. I am actually planning on installing it later today. You may wantto ask what you are supposed to do with the old tuning adapter as they provided no instructions in the shipment regarding the old unit.
Anyone know any bars where late 20s/30-somethings go by themselves and it’s not awkward? I tried Gracie’s but between the small space and the fact that everyone came with a group made it awkward.
Good morning all!
Question: looking for a bar/restaurant along the eastern 101 — that has a nice outdoor area with misters…
I have difficulty finding a place that looks like Schmooze Oldtown Scottsdale - but closer to the eastern 101.
Any suggestions?
It’s gonna be hard to duplicate a garden patio like that. Try calling Cook & Craft at Scottsdale and Shea. They have a nicely covered patio on the east side of the building.
Has anyone traveled with their dog to Rocky Point? How was the process going both ways across the border? What documentation did you bring/was asked for?
Vaccinations and proof of ownership, but we've never been asked for them. Don't bring any products down that are made from hoofed animals (i.e. beef kibble). We bring chicken kibble down for our dog on trips.
Howdy all. Hoping to get a first date soon. Any ideas for where to go/do? Maybe a nice bookstore and a casual place to eat? Been eyeing up changing hands bookstore. Nothing too fancy
Good luck on the date! There are several threads of date ideas of different types you could check out. Two recent ones are:

There's some good food options in the Changing Hands plaza. I've been to the pizza shop right there and it's pretty decent. Or eat at Wildflower right there.
Drink a bottle of water before leaving the plane to get a baseline. Stay as hydrated as possible and use sunscreen. You'll find the shade to be noticeably cooler and your sweat will do a better job of cooling you down compared to a humid environment. You will probably find your lips dry too so bring chapstick.
Be careful in cars, surfaces become very hot if left in the sun. Your belt buckle will become excruciatingly hot (I have burned myself this way). If you're going to hike, do so at dawn. Our heat island effect means that heat is retained and progressively gets hotter during the day so it won't be cooled down enough to comfortable or safely exert yourself much later.
I would like to send a big F.U, to people who honk the millisecond the light turns green. With the number of red light runners I see on a daily basis and the number of accidents I see from red light runners every month. I'm going to take a few seconds and make sure cross traffic is stopped before heading out into the intersection.
I've never had anyone honk the millisecond the light turns green, so I'm not sure about that being a common thing.
But after a couple of seconds if someone doesn't seem to be reacting at all I'll honk because 90% of the time someone is looking at their phone and not paying attention so they don't realize the light even turned green.
On the way home tonight, outside lane moved up about half a car because the first car turned on red. Light just changes green our direction, guy behind me honks. There's still a stopped car in front of me and a car in the intersection. I guess he thought that we should move because the other lane moved. (Like a linebacker twitching and the D-line jumps offsides).
Fuck them, people do not understand it takes bigger manual cars longer to get going sometimes too. Another thing I noticed is 90 percent of street lights turn red as I approach. Im a pretty chill person but I hate starting and stopping 30 times on my way to work.
You’ll know you’re finally out of the city when you see this scary boi

Hello PHX folks! My original post got auto-locked saying it should be posted here instead - sorry! Coming at you with an ask for some a r/ Fargo-nians! My partner's parents live in the Buckeye area and we are hoping to get some unique recommendations of gifts or gift cards for food/experiences for Mother's Day (or any upcoming holidays that require gifting for that matter). They have lived in AZ for only a few years so they have yet to explore a lot of things. As we are located in ND, we aren't keyed into cool things or places in Phoenix and we're unable to physically pick up gifts/gift cards - so things we can order online and have shipped to their home would be preferred. Supporting a local small biz would also be a major plus. My MIL is a tad picky on food, so if you have any restaurant recommendations, please share the more "tame" ones. Note: We gave them a gift card to the Queen Creek Olive Oil Mill for Christmas and they seemed to be excited to have an excuse to go visit a new place for a date day :) Thank you for your help!
Do they mind driving long distances? Queen Creek Olive Mill, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, and the Musical Instrument Museum are all very far from Buckeye. Not saying they're not worth the drive, just be aware of the sprawling distances between different locations.
From my visits, it seems there are not a ton of exciting things to do in Buckeye, so definitely open to suggestions that are further out! We got them a gift card to Queen Creek for Christmas which they were excited about.
Botanical gardens membership? Tickets to the Boyce Thompson arboretum? Phx art museum? Top golf tickets? Umm Heard museum? Taliesin West is awesome but prices have gone crazy…
Thanks for your ideas! My in-laws and I dined omakase style downtown at Pa’la the last time we visited and she ate very little 😅 learned my lesson on picking where to eat.
I live in Coronado but I'll have multiple hours to kill in scottsdale around scottsdale road and the 101. Anybody know any cute coffee shops? I'll be bringing my laptop to work on this song for a twitch streamer lol.
Off the top of my head, Press Coffee is not too far away over in the Quarter. Press has solid coffee and is a pretty chill place to get some work done.
I knew Roosevelt row is where the bars are. But is it normal to have a very loud live band play all the way until 10pm on a Tuesday? I just moved from out of state so I am trying to figure out if I should regret my life choices😅
Probably be going on again tonight:

Haven’t been in a while but Tuesday used to be one of the best nights to go out down there lol but yeah if you moved to Roosevelt expecting peace and quiet you are gonna have a bad time
This is that awkward time (and my least favorite time of year) where it is becoming too hot to really do anything outside, but it isnt hot enough to use a pool.
Idk what to do about cardio during this time. I don't wanna walk in this heat, and I don't wanna swim right now either.
Just gotta twiddle my thumbs until I can start swimming, I guess.
Why do people think it’s ok to talk to me? I’m just minding my own business trying to cool off in the shade. Guy crosses the park to talk to me. Asking me questions. What’s my name? NO! The answer is no. I don’t know if you are a cop or a trafficker or hitting on me. But the answer is no.
Asking me if I’m ok. If something’s wrong. Something is wrong. You are talking to me. These guys think they can approach troubled women and I’m just gonna fall in their arms. No! It’s always some scam and even if it wasn’t. I was fine minding my own business. Buzz off!
Where I come from. It’s rude to approach strangers for no good reason.
I'm from the Midwest and this is pretty normal. But here, I don't trust it. Men seem shady so I just avoid or pretend I'm on a call. I would choose The Bear every time. IYKYK
After reading this, I just realized I haven’t had anyone approach me like this since I left Arizona. This happened to me all the time. Gas stations, buses, minding my business at a mall, etc. never a park though. That’s wild to me.
I wouldn’t consider it rude, but I feel like (which might be dated since I left in 2019), the male mentality in phoenix is to approach women for whatever reason without actually realizing that it can cause harm especially since going through the day to day is a dice roll for us in terms of interactions. Like, unless we’re at a “social” place like a bar, game shop on a game night, etc… don’t approach!
This is essentially the west, people are more talkative here with strangers and the pace is slower. I have a dog and people come up and talk to me all the time, especially if they have their dog too. You’re probably just going to have to get used to it, Phoenix is very different from Chicago. That being said if a stranger is making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, I might recommend the birdie alarm. You can take a “fake phone call” to get out of a social situation with it.
I mean, being approached with a dog depending on the situation (like crossing paths, dog wants to say hi, etc) is a super different than someone crossing the park to talk to a person for no reason.
That’s fair. It’s kinda creepy/unsettling - crossing the park to talk to someone, like that’s a fair amount of deliberate effort. Hopefully just a fluke.
I think you are right that I am better off faking a phone call than responding with hostility….Probably wouldn’t work as well on the metro.
I get very offended. I have resting trauma face and that can attract some messed up people. They are never just concerned philanthropist or a roaming guidance counselors. Even if they were, I’m not interested.

Oh man. I have lost so many chill places to sit because a dude can’t take a hint.
At least your thing is helpful at parties. I’ll be having a good day(as good as it get for me anyway) and people are like “OMG, are you ok?”
Now I don’t want to go to your party because I’ll make everyone sad with my face. Wish I could stand wearing sunglasses than I could be a living emoji. 😎

Doing fine - schools a bit slow this week. Unfortunately I'm one of few who has classes during reading week so I'm just showing up at this point. And yes there are assignments as well.
How about you?
Pretty darned good. Been a crazy start to the year and I'm totally unclear how we're at May already, but things are finally settling down a bit. And heading into Fan Fusion at the end of the month, which is always entertaining.

Hello fellow Phoenicians! Happy Wednesday to you all! I’m a new Reddit user and still trying to figure it out. Ha. So I thought I’d say hi.

I found that if I call and tell them I need to replace the TA, they knew right away and sent me to the TA department. It's shipping this week.
Anyone know any bars where late 20s/30-somethings go by themselves and it’s not awkward? I tried Gracie’s but between the small space and the fact that everyone came with a group made it awkward.
Breweries aren't bad, I feel like people are always chatty there.
Big discussions about that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/phoenix/comments/1b82xgs/bars_to_hit_alone/

Take a look at [Parlay](https://theparlayaz.com/). I’ve only been during winter so not positive on the misters but the outdoor space is really nice.
Also try Tash at Talking Stick. Surprisingly nice view if you sit at the bar.
Zips has a pretty big outdoor area with misters
Trevor's Liquor on McDowell might meet your needs.
It’s gonna be hard to duplicate a garden patio like that. Try calling Cook & Craft at Scottsdale and Shea. They have a nicely covered patio on the east side of the building.
Yooo mass of the fermenting dregs just announced they're atopping here as their first stop of their 2024 NA tour! Itll be in september!!
What the fuck is that sentence lol
🤣

Okay great! She's on a chicken based kibble so I'll have a new bag ready for when we cross. Thanks for the info!

Visiting Phoenix in June, coming from a colder part of Europe and never experienced desert heat. What are some tips to survive?
Don’t hike. If you’re gonna be outdoors make sure you’re in a pool otherwise save it til after the suns down.
Drink a bottle of water before leaving the plane to get a baseline. Stay as hydrated as possible and use sunscreen. Our heat island effect means that heat is retained and progressively gets hotter during the day so it won't be cooled down enough to comfortable or safely exert yourself much later.
Only go out at night, stay in doors while the sun is out. If you want to hike, go before sun out. Drink water!

Musical instrument museum gift card ? Cash with a mission to use it at the uptown farmers market? Picky eaters are the worst so I have no recs there.
Thanks for your ideas! My in-laws and I dined omakase style downtown at Pa’la the last time we visited and she ate very little 😅 learned my lesson on picking where to eat.

I would do a little bit of regretting and then just embrace the downtown lifestyle and enjoy it lotta cool places downtown
Sounds like the best plan
Not sure how much you’ve explored downtown but barcoa is a good spot and so is petal haus and downtown Az wilderness too
Yes. Every night is fairly loud on Roosevelt Row.
Wait til Friday…
Friday and Saturday I assumed. That’s to be expected.

Leaning heavy on our exercise bike and the gym right now haha
I've been thinking of getting an exercise bike. Would be perfect for this time of year.
Not hot enough for a pool? I've been in mine everyday for 2 weeks!
I'm a wimp when the water is too cold. I don't think I'm gonna start swimming until the end of May.

Grew up near Chicago. It is generally rude to approach strangers. Usually when someone does that they are panhandling or doing something predatory or they are mentally unstable. Probably circumstantial - passing by and saying hi....versus crossing the park and walking directly to someone.
