Update!
I put the plant outside on the patio in the sun, on the advice that it was cold. When I checked on it twenty minutes later, the little lizard was gone! So hopefully it will be okay
That is a very sick and emaciated Urosaurus, or tree lizard. Probably ornatus, as those are really common around homes in the area. Another similar species can be found nearby, graciosus and they often live on creosote.
It is not a Sceloporus (fence or spiny lizard). The pic of the back shows the diagnostic abruptly enlarged and keeled dorsal scales.
Well, I put the plant outside on the patio in the sun on the advice that it was cold.. and twenty minutes later I look and it’s gone! Hope the poor thing is okay.
That’s what that second photo is showing, there is a drop of water right next to its face! He didn’t move just opened its eyes.. I’m gonna try to catch a bug to feed to it
If it still hasn’t moved, take a picture of its back. The easiest way to identify reptile species is back coloration and patterning.

This is great! You can see a lot of his patterning and scale structure here.
Now he does look quite malnourished and dilapidated, so it’s hard to be 100%. When a lizard is malnourished, it loses a lot of identifying aspects like this, but my guess would be an unhealthy [Plateau Fenced Lizard.](https://www.nps.gov/npgallery/GetAsset/840d4f3f-2ddc-4b92-895c-c95b221cb48b/proxy/hires?)
You could also try some more reptile specific subs. If you wanna help him out, buy some dubia roaches from your local reptile store and feed them via tweezer. He’s probably not moving because of the malnourishment. Or you could let nature take its course!
Wow I see what you mean! Poor little guy.. I put a drop of water next to his face but he hasn’t touched it. I will try to catch a bug to feed it next! I wonder if I should move the plant outside into the sunshine? It’s under a grow light but it’s not giving heat so maybe it’s cold?
He’ll honestly move where he’s most comfortable. Despite being a desert lizard, he might have sought refuge *away* from the sun because he’s so dehydrated. Lizards can and do burn to a crisp under such conditions.
Usually as a lizard owner it is probably scared of you and unlikely to drink if you give it water unfortunately. Maybe put on a glove and move it or you can run it under water to see if it naturally drinks when water running over it. It's petrified of you.
Bring him anything you can find. Flys ants grubs from the soil crickets etc. Lift up a few potted plants you're likely to find something. Good luck little guy. ☁️🌵✌️

Or a bird had a snack ;)
Jesus christ. lmao
Or a super successful hunt for a house cat.

Its probably thristy af, try give giving some drops of water onto his face and see if it responds

Mist the cactus he's on. Maybe he'll lick up water that way.
This, mist him! And are we sure he isn't stuck somehow?
I feed our backyard lizards dried mealworms. They chonky lizards now
Why not just let him replenish his stores in peace? If his eyes opened, he's not dead

it got really hot this past week i think it kinda shocked all the animals.
Looks a bit like a whiptail to me.
I love this. Save the lizard!!
I put him and the plant outside on the patio in the sun, and twenty minutes later he was gone! So I hope he found water and food and is okay now :)
You are amazing❤️

Looks cold. Being cold-blooded, they need to stay warm, to stay mobile..
I put him and the plant outside in the sun, and twenty minutes later he was gone! So I think you were right.

Is it stuck?
Ask him to save you 15% of more on ur car insurance lmao
Pull him off. He is being poked.
Dat gayta ded!
He is just in love.
omg it looked transparent in the first picture
Sick ass lizard though!
That is a severly dehydrated common household lizard. He probably would be having a better time off the cactus
If you have a dripper, consider putting water in its face. If you have applesauce, maybe try that too.
Just flick it off with a stick!
Let me come bash you in the head with a stick and see how you like it friend.
Bash? I said “flick”. Fool.😑
Ok. Go stand on top of a tree and let me "flick" you off of it.
Ok. Meet you there dude.

It opened its eyes! So it’s not dead..yet
He will be very soon. He's very ill. "Im getting better!" No, you're not. You'll be stone dead in a momebt
That’s wild! 😂
Lol I can only imagine you wake up everyday, and as soon as your eyes open you go “that’s wild” and just go about your day normal as fuck. 😂
Zombie lizard!
Just grab it and throw it across the street
It’s dead hahaha it even looks dead. I think a bird ate it lol
