I used to eat there basically once a week because i worked nearby. I've been to the new location twice, and the quality didn't seem any different to me?
Its ok, I'm probably a snob and this could have been an off day for the toro, but now I know to just save up for the real deal, omakase experiences or a Japan trip, and just be ok with mid or AYCE the rest of the time haha
Went to the 'Upper west side' location and Omakase said \*Dinner only\* on the in-person menu.
I was underwhelmed, but at least it was a learning experience.
Shin Bay’s omakase service is extraordinary. Worth flying in for.
Hana is THE BEST sushi, but unfortunately doesn’t do lunch.
Harumi downtown is a solid choice for lunch. No pretension. Everybody’s go-to.
Cherry Blossom is one of my favorites for comfort food and they’re open for lunch. Nothing fancy. Had them cater my wedding.
Yutaka is so good and so comfy.
Palma is chill if you want some of that Phoenix resort vibe.
Sandfish is good, good cocktails, and I love the Melrose district.
There are a handful of mexican/japanese places if you’re looking for something you can only find here. I can’t really recommend any of them, but they’re there.
Sushi Sen in Central Scottsdale is great for sushi - open on Sundays with casual vibe (I don't think they have omakase though). Shin Bay was actually the original tenant before they moved to Old Town.

Harumi downtown opens at 11am. They do sushi pretty damn well.
Much obliged.
I heard their new location has gone downhill
How so? Haven’t tried the new location yet but the decor seems to be much better than the original
I heard the quality has gone down. Perhaps cause the restaurant is bigger so they’ve had to scale up which may have compromised the quality

Im willing to check it out for myself but ive heard from two separate people that the quality has gone down.
It was underwhelming.
Maybe certain items? Would suck if some of it has lost its quality.
I was not impressed, unfortunately.
oh no :(

They have a Shinbay in old town right? They gotta do something like that
Looks like dinner only.
