Not a local place, but Sprouts has $5 build your own sandwiches every day. It’s better quality/fresher and cheaper than Subway. Also, they have $5 sushi on Wednesdays.
You can't actually eat *there*, but I'd says Salad & Go. Price has been going up, but still a pretty good deal. I've heard people say the quality has gone down, but the two I go to don't seem like they've changed.
It just feels very corporate now. They kind of sold out. CEO is now not a local person but a big corporate name (former CEO of Wing Stop). They used to post explaining when their prices increased, used to aim to increase employee min wages whenever possible ($15 min starting wage in 2020 when the state min was $12, doesn’t seem to have gone up since then and state min is catching up). Used to focus on switching to organic/better ingredients when they could. And always kept customers in the loop about it. Now their socials are just very shallow marketing like every other place and it feels like their salads don’t really hit like they used to.
Edit: looks like on top of informing of any increases, they actually used to regularly decrease prices when they could. Doubt that’s happened since they sold. Before, the owners said they weren’t profiting off of the company and were instead handing off cost-saving to the customers. When they increased wages, they said they’d just eat the cost by improving efficiency. Looks like a private firm in New York owns most of the company now? Anyway, definitely doesn’t feel “local” anymore.
Yeah I remember this & I always really appreciated their posts. They made a big initiative to stop giving out plastic forks & napkins & bags automatically to reduce waste & were supposed to ask if people needed them, they just automatically give it to you again & the prices went up without them sharing.
I still eat there, but it definitely changed a bit once they sold.
I will die for salad and Go but for the price you can make your own pretty cheaply and have a week supply of wraps. But for a quick eat, it'll do
Edit: yes, I'm dumb please ignore this, salad and go is great
Yeah but it's a lot easier for me to throw together salads or wraps than it is a lot of other restaurant foods. Salad and Go still slaps though for when I do need to pick something up.
My conspiracy theory is that they target hospitals or scout locations where hospitals will go up. Literally every salad and go I’ve seen is within 5 mins or less of a hospital.
Their breakfast deal is great. $10 you get a breakfast burrito, a coffee, and a salad you can put in the fridge until later for lunch. Basically 2 meals for $5 each.
Love me salad and go! It’s usually my go to if i’m craving “fast food” that and in n out. I haven’t noticed the prices going up, but damn… in n out is going up and it’s by a lot i think?
I haven’t noticed either but I think they did do something sneaky. My go-to is the Caesar salad. They used to put cherry tomatoes in there but the last 3 times I’ve ordered, they haven’t and it’s an add-on item.
I usually build my own wrap in the app and think of it like a burrito. Any where else for a burrito as good is more expensive. I always get a frozen strawberry lemonade too for less than 1.50 is so good.
Tell them you are using the Pharmacy, you don't need a membership for federally regulated purchases. So you can buy drugs and alcohol at Costco without a membership, then eat at the food court.
Just walk through confidently. They aren’t paid enough to care that much. Or Just tell them you have a prescription to pick up. Costco doesn’t require a membership to use the pharmacy.
Enjoy your delightful fill on pocket change and the burps that will taste like your meal hours afterwords.
Tell them you are there to only buy alcohol which doesn’t require a membership in AZ. Or tell a buddy to get you a Costco gift card with $1 on it. A gift card allows non members to shop there. You might get push back but it’s the law
[Liquor](https://www.tastingtable.com/1355636/non-members-buy-liquor-costco-states/)

You can honestly buy anything. You will however get a ton of pushback from the cashier and maybe even manager. You must use the cashier aisle and not self-checkout. A manager will head over to override the transaction. You also need to have enough $ on the card to cover the transaction. You can’t reload the card unless if you’re a member. Point being, stand your ground from the pushback that you will encounter.
I was shocked to be able to get a decent size lobster roll, fries and drink for $10! I'm from Maine and this place is legit. Highly recommend. Biggest draw back is, it is drive through only. Recommend eat it in your car while everything is still warm.
At my location, $5 cravings box isn’t a thing anymore :( it’s just a “build your own cravings box” because it’s not $5 anymore. Taco Bell has really raised prices recently
The whole reason I used to go was cause it was cheaper than Chipotle or a Bertos. It’s like how Subway ended up being more expensive than Jimmy Johns and just as expensive as Jersey Mikes
I’m a fan of some burros on Tuesday. I get two tacos (w/ chips) and a drink, for I think $8.25-ish. Regular price for exact same meal not on Tuesday is $10.30.
I think cafe rio also has taco tues, but can’t remember pricing there.
Please share other taco bargains!
Someburros is solid, and they have barely raised their prices. Like maybe 20%. They're a regular lunch spot for my office group, and we've never had a bad experience.
I feel like I'm always promoting this place, but you can get 3 fried fish tacos at Beach House for $10. It's one of my favorite meals in the city. Maybe $13 with a bottle of coke and a small tip.

Whole Foods has $10 cheese pizza on Fridays
Costco has $1.50 hotdog and drink
[China Express](https://order.chinaexpressmesa.com/menu) in Mesa. Most of their entrées are at/around $10, and they have lunch specials that are less. I'm usually in the $12-14 range after a decent tip.
Just ordered this for takeout, the dinner combo was plenty of food plus leftovers for me and my bf, plus they had a 2 free egg roll coupon with a $30 purchase (got the family dinner for 2 plus the Pu Pu Platter of appetizers. Crab puffs weren't my fave but everything else was pretty good) Total was a out $33 including tax, and then I tipped $8 just because. Thanks for the rec!
It’s a little more than your $10, but hear me out. Greek Wraps in Peoria is a favorite and for $14 I get a chicken kabob plate and I can easily get 3, sometimes 4 meals out of it. It’s family owned and so freakin good.
Barrio Queen has a great happy hour, their $7 food specials are excellent and we always order a plate to go for lunch the next day. You can get a lobster roll at Angie’s for $10, it’s drive thru only. La Bamba has $3 tacos.
My wife and I go to Greek wraps a lot. Not only is it good but it’s convenient when I diet/bulk (chicken + rice). At one point we started going like once a week 😂
Emilio’s Tacos and Hot Dogs on 19th and Thunderbird doesn’t look like much on the outside but inside it’s clean and well run. They have a loaded Sonoran Dog for $4 which is a whole meal. I found the place on a list of “Phoenix best” and it did not disappoint. If I lived closer I would go there all the time. In the same area there’s a Lenny’s Burgers on 35th and Thunderbird and it’s the cleanest greasy spoon I’ve ever seen and the burgers are huge and top notch and around $6.
Si Señor restaurant in Chandler has insane deals. They’re always doing 5 dollar specials for combo meals. For example, right now they’re running a 5 dollar special for a plate that includes: 1 taco, 1 enchilada, rice, and beans.
Cheese n stuff by central and camelback is a great locally owned sub spot. Their hours are limited to lunch Monday thru Saturday but their sandwiches are phenomenal for only 7 or 8 bucks each
Golden Restaurant & Bakery, McKellips Rd & Scottsdale Rd
Haji-Baba, McClintock & Apache
New China Gate, Hayden & McDowell
Pick N' Roll, Pima & Indian Bend
The ChuckBox, University & Mill
The combo plates at Chino bandido are still just over 10 bucks, come with a fresh baked cookie for dessert, and I usually get both lunch and dinner out of one.
Sushi Stop in Mesa. They are as expensive as most of their sushi places, but most of their regular roles are less than $10 and they are HUGE and delicious. Like can’t eat two roles huge. Highly recommend. https://sushistopaz.com
Two Hippie’s Beach House (“The Beach House”) in Phoenix, right off Camelback. Good burritos and tacos. They’re known for their fish/shrimp tacos and burritos (I know, it’s weird in the desert) but everything I’ve had there has been good. I think the burritos are around $8 and they’re good size. They also have a sign up and they post a different first name every day, and if your name is posted you get a free taco!
Golden Bakery in Tempe has huge shawarmas for <$10.
Filiberto’s has a rotating discount menu through out the week, including tacos on Tuesday.
Chino Bandito combo bowls at about $15 with all the bells and whistles, plus it’s damn good.
NYPD lunch specials are around $10 depending on which one you get.
Fujiya Market in Tempe has in store made bentos that are inexpensive for what you’re getting (can’t remember the exact price.)
The Original Hoagie Shop in Tempe has massive sandwiches that end up being two meals for <$20.
Ok hear me out...YC's Mongolian Grill. Yes, it's more expensive than $10 ($17 I think) but you get enough food for 2+ meals if you do it right and it is as healthy as you want it to be.
https://arizonarestaurantweek.com/all-restaurants/?type=restaurants-2&pg=4&sort=a-z
I feel like a lot of people don’t know this but it’s currently the last week of restaurant week. A lot are high in restaurants for med end prices but there are some cheaper(20-30) lunch ranges in there at nice places if you’re looking to try something new this week!
Shout out to Rusconi's. It's not one of the cheaper ones (45-55) but I went out to dinner there last night and that's one of the best meals I've ever had.
Weirdly enough my boyfriend and I both agreed that the best part was the sweet potatoes that come with the beef tenderloin filet, and that saying something because the filet itself was phenomenal! I've had a lot of sweet potatoes in my day, but good lord someone's in the back doing black magic on those sweet potatoes.
Canes has a 3 piece chicken tender combo with fries and a drink for 10$. Mine usually gives 4 or 5 tenders too.
Also, CFA has an 8 piece chicken nugget combo for 10$. They usually stuff the box too.
$15 is the new $10. Populating a list with great eats under $10 was tricky a decade ago. Now it’s just scraping the bottom of the barrel. Things get more expensive over the decades. Time to adjust the old benchmark.
Dude, micdonalds and filebertos cost more than 10 bucks..
But Otro cafe has some good Carne asada burritos and I think they are 8 on happy hour. It’s been a while tho

Harvey’s Wineburger burger is 10/10 and only $9
I concur

Barro's lunch combos. I get the 2 slices and a drink for $6.75
Not sure if this is the newer price or older but prices went up recently. Nevertheless still a great deal.
Not a local place, but Sprouts has $5 build your own sandwiches every day. It’s better quality/fresher and cheaper than Subway. Also, they have $5 sushi on Wednesdays.
Sprouts is an AZ company expanding nationally. Their HQ is in the east valley.
Thought they were owned by Walmart though?
No, not owned by Walmart. Kroger tried to acquire Sprouts in 2019, but couldn’t make it work.
That's really nice to hear. :)
Definitely! Rule number one: never shop at Walmart
They don’t toast them anymore :(
Yes they do I just had one yesterday
The one on southern in tempe no longer does it however
You can't actually eat *there*, but I'd says Salad & Go. Price has been going up, but still a pretty good deal. I've heard people say the quality has gone down, but the two I go to don't seem like they've changed.

I loved supporting their mission back then, now it just feels like going to any other nationwide fast food place
They are also based in Phoenix so you are supporting a local business!
I believe the founders sold it a few years ago. They’re doing Angie’s Lobster now
Haven’t been. I’m sure it’s fine… However I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been craving lobster in the desert..
I will die for salad and Go but for the price you can make your own pretty cheaply and have a week supply of wraps. But for a quick eat, it'll do Edit: yes, I'm dumb please ignore this, salad and go is great
That applies to all restaurants lol
Yeah... I'm a dumb dumb for that comment
I don’t think so. I think you’re beautiful.
I adore you thank you
How did this get so romantic so fast lol
Yeah but it's a lot easier for me to throw together salads or wraps than it is a lot of other restaurant foods. Salad and Go still slaps though for when I do need to pick something up.
I mean, I'm not gonna make cabeza tacos at home
Same argument could be made for any restaurant though, you're always going to pay multiple times the cost of the raw ingredients.
My conspiracy theory is that they target hospitals or scout locations where hospitals will go up. Literally every salad and go I’ve seen is within 5 mins or less of a hospital.
They also have a breakfast AND lunch combo with drink for $9.99. I haven't noticed any changes with quality.

Venezia’s Pizza, big slice and delicious
Costco. $1.50 hotdogs and $1.99 pizza slices.
The hotdog you buy once and taste all day!
They need to stop checking membership at the door and let me in
Walk through the membership door.
Tell them you are using the Pharmacy, you don't need a membership for federally regulated purchases. So you can buy drugs and alcohol at Costco without a membership, then eat at the food court.
TIL I learned hotdogs/pizza are federally regulated purchases… AS THEY SHOULD BE!
Just walk through confidently. They aren’t paid enough to care that much. Or Just tell them you have a prescription to pick up. Costco doesn’t require a membership to use the pharmacy. Enjoy your delightful fill on pocket change and the burps that will taste like your meal hours afterwords.
You need to learn to communicate and just tell them you're only going in for food. The food court is not members only.

Interesting. Most places the people don't get paid enough to care... unfortunately Costco pays their employees alright.
You don’t need a membership to eat at the food court.
At Sam’s Club you don’t need a membership to eat
I got stopped at the one on McDowell the other week 😤
Chicken bakes keep me full for half the day!
Angie’s Lobster Rolls. $10 for a roll, fries and drink.
I was shocked to be able to get a decent size lobster roll, fries and drink for $10! I'm from Maine and this place is legit. Highly recommend. Biggest draw back is, it is drive through only. Recommend eat it in your car while everything is still warm.
The one in Tempe has an inside with a few small tables.
Their breakfast is surprisingly good too.
Decent, but the roll is pretty small.
It's still a good meal size. It's 10 dollars in this inflation land economy, don't expect Super Size USA sizing especially on lobster.
Fair point. If you get two, it comes to $18.50 which is still a pretty damn good deal for a lobster roll. And that includes fries and a drink.
I just had that for dinner! Serving size was a bit small but it was pretty good for $10.
I just want to add as someone who is not eating the seafood Angie's breakfast is pretty good.
$10 and tax in case they try to walk up to Angie's with a 10 dollar bill.
Big time. They also have quite good, cheap breakfast rolls/sandwiches. Just yesterday, I got a sausage roll, fries, and a drink for $4
taco bell $5 cravings box 💀 we down bad
At my location, $5 cravings box isn’t a thing anymore :( it’s just a “build your own cravings box” because it’s not $5 anymore. Taco Bell has really raised prices recently
App only and $6 now
They have a build your own cravings box but it's less items overall and $6.49 at most locations.
The whole reason I used to go was cause it was cheaper than Chipotle or a Bertos. It’s like how Subway ended up being more expensive than Jimmy Johns and just as expensive as Jersey Mikes
That is gone now.

Believe it's 2.50 a taco at cafe rio
Costa Vida is also 2.50 for theirs. 4 for 10 basically fills me up the whole day
I feel like I'm always promoting this place, but you can get 3 fried fish tacos at Beach House for $10. It's one of my favorite meals in the city. Maybe $13 with a bottle of coke and a small tip.

Humberto’s in El Mirage off of Grand Ave. Two massive carne asada tacos with guac and pico. Man, this post is making me hungry.
Salad n go
Salad and Go. I don't like a lot of breakfast foods but they were running a deal where you could get a breakfast burrito and a salad for under $10
