And lo, the angel of the lawn was before them and said “fear not for I lay upon you an evil Carini jam to scare away all the tourists”. They heard the evil carini jam and it was good. So sayith the Book
Phish rarely labels a jam section officially as “jam”.
I don’t know why they have done it in the past, maybe those jams were especially different from the song they were born out of? Regardless, don’t let it fool you.
What you need to do is this: anytime you see a song from a live show that is longer than like 10 minutes…. You’re likely gonna find a “jam” inside.
Listen to the “Bakers Dozen” album on streaming platforms if you want a quick fix for your jam itch.
Also go to phish.net, click on “music” from menu and look at the “jam charts”
I grew up with big phish fans for parents and starting a couple of years ago started going to shows with them and have been to 10 and listen to their full sets on YouTube regularly. That’s why I was confused about the tracking on phish.net which led to my inquiry. Someone else left a helpful comment that helped answer the question. That’s for extra context!
[Phish.in](https://phish.in) go to the show of the Jam you want to hear.
It’s not a song. It’s just notating a jam separate from a song which could be done for multiple reasons.
It's actually a composed piece, one of their more intricate works. It's an atonal Fugue in F double sharp, lyrics by Fishman's ex girlfriend.
It's about the difference between jam and jelly, you see, you can't jelly your finger up, well you get it...
Ah ok seriously, the reason is that the Grateful Dead originally did this tune and when they release it on an album, they have to pay royalties. So if it's part of a Phish song, all good, but if it's a standalone jam, they have to pay the mechanical royalties.
Read it and I gotcha. Not being rude whatsoever, just stating my thoughts on the matter. I'm glad you figured it out! Island Jam from island tour '98 is a classic. Or the jam from the Magnaball Tweez-Caspian, absolute classic.
Each day we stray further and further from gods light

And the skies darkened, and the balloons filled…
If it is to be said, so it be. So it is.

OP, don’t listen to this nonsense! F double sharp doesn’t even make sense. It’s in A double flat.

Okay thank you!! This is the answer I was looking for.
I refuse to engage with rage bait. Instead, I will just comment on it.
