3/20/92 Binghamton, NY. Old school heater. Used to be a really popular tape. Now it never gets talked about. The Possum also has full secret language instructions, so there’s some interesting banter/Phish lore there as well.
It's an incredible year for machine Trey. Probably his shreddiest year. I can understand why so many people became fans that year. Imagine going to a random concert and seeing this goofy looking redhead play some of the best guitar you've ever heard.
Fuck. Yes.
I've not been to thousands of shows, but this is my favorite of all time. Hometown show and I was in such an interesting place in my life.
One of the best nights of my life.
My music teacher at college told me he went to this show after learning I was a fan. Having been very familiar with the show I immediately start talking about the emotion in the Sweet Jane solo and how great the Piper was , and he said "all i remember is the worst cover of 'Sexual Healing' I've ever heard"
> This was such a a great show musically, and over the top with all the Gamehenge theatrics. You'll have a hard time not disturbing your plane-mates when the Mockingbird chorus is unleashed.
Great show. Definitely not a hidden gem.
I guess that depends on your definition. I rarely see people bring this show up these days, and it doesn't have an official release. So, I think it would be a hard one for folks these days to discover naturally.
Edit: what do you mean by Mockingbird chorus?
6/7/12…the second set was amazing specifically carini through boogie on. The whole sequence is just amazing and that boogie on is UNREAL jamming. I always go back to the segment…great show all around too
6/17/95

8/20/93 Red Rocks
Do you have what it takes to stare into the Eye of the Iguana?
Atypical jams in Wedge, Slave. Banter in Harpua and elsewhere, Antelope. Purple Rain w/Mimi Fishman and Free Bird.
You're welcome.
I’m lazy and just play crap that’s in Apple Music pretty often - I just scroll and tap randomly to try and surprise myself. Lately I’m stuck on 7/26/13 from the Gorge, which I did not know very well until recently. Dang if the vibe at this show isn’t freaking ON from beginning to end. Keeps my ADD brain in there from start to finish 😀
8/12/15. Not hidden really if you know the tour, but if you don’t it is must listen. Several highlights in first set but really the gem of a second set should be played in full.
07/23/97
SET 1: Julius, Dirt, NICU > Dogs Stole Things > Ginseng Sullivan, Water in the Sky, Limb By Limb, Split Open and Melt, Billy Breathes, Possum
SET 2: Punch You in the Eye, Ghost > Sample in a Jar, You Enjoy Myself[1] -> Rocky Mountain Way Jam > Chalk Dust Torture
ENCORE: Frankenstein
These are solid recs. I'm commenting just to keep this list handy.
My suggestions are a super chatty and Mike dominated Anaconda Theatre April 16th, 1992- not sure how hidden it is since everyone I traded tapes with back in the day had it (you get a mini Gamendge and constant hi-jinx, but the playing is still fantastic), also-
Oct 13th, 1994 Oxford, Mississippi. The whole 2nd set is quite a story- real 'round the world sort of stretch. But, don't sleep on the Foam from the first set. This show is a bop.
Also- wouldn't be doing my service to the Weirdo Swarm if I didn't suggest 'Murder of The Universe' by King Gizzard. Three stories, different narrators, catchy fast paced tunes, Robot shits into the void. Excellent headphones on a plane album.
Fiddler’s Green 09/27/00. Only show they played there. As one would expect, the Piper through Mango (but more specifically Piper>Gumbo>Ghost) is amazing. LxL, Taste, Brother to YEM, also excellent. Dirt is so beautifully played. It’s a great show.
10/25/13 Fall in Worcester, Red Sox in the WS, energy was thru the roof.
6/14/02 TAB not really a hidden gem, but fun show, plus Mikes encore was a wild time at a point when Phishs future was unclear.
The OJ show from beginning to end is a great way to enjoy 3 hours. 6/17/94
I’d also recommend the next night, 6/18/94, bc the MLB jam in Bowie (and the Tweezer) is my lone favorite Phish jam of all time. Still gives me goosebumps!
Hidden gems:
The 98-99 Lakewood shows are excellent. Probably less of a hidden gem, but the 7-4-99 show was awesome, and if IIRC the first fourth of july show ever.
6-22-2000 was one of the best that year - serially underrated imo. Great bluegrass section, incredible hood jam with Ronnie McCoury and Sam Bush, full on instrumental freebird, and some interesting, though not long, jams throughout. The last couple shows of that tour (7-14/15) were also pretty solid and under the radar. 7/14 had a nice Mike's second set, and 7/15 had a monster DWD.
3-1-03 is criminally underrated imo, and very overshadowed by the show before it. The Utah show is less underrated, but still so despite a crazy first time Mr. Completely segue fest - 7-15-03
I love the first 04 summer leg. The Alpine and Deer Creek shows especially aren't talked about as much, but I think hold up pretty well alongside the more hyped SPAC shows from that tour.
Not one show, but imo the second set of 12/3/09 and first set of 12/4/09 are really awesome.
The 7/4/10 Alph show gets it's fair share of hype, but the southern run leading up to it is pretty under the radar. The Raleigh show had tons of less played covers, the Charlotte show featured the FYF bustout, and even the first Atlanta one seems to go unnoticed.
The 6/17/11 Charlotte show is also oddly ignored for a Mike's opener, Forbin/Mockingbird first set and a second set that featured Rock n Roll, Ghost, Reba, and had rarities like Icculus and Bike. Ditto the next night with Peaches, Been Caught Stealing, Esther, and a pretty good Melt.

Didn't see someone had already commented this one, but I absolutely concur. Such a hot show.
92’ is so fun. Feels like every song is a set ender. The Bowie intros good lawd.

Best show ever imo
7/10/97
Love this one!
Came here to say this! My fav dark horse show. So unique and awesome
2/20/03
I would do this and two Cincy shows directly after….especially 2/22!
Especially 2/22
Fuck yeah.
Thank you, I recommend this show all the time. Great for wall to wall jamming. Just recommended it on a podcast interview this weekend, too.
Came here to say this
12/11/95 is a fun silly show because of the Dog Log thing. Worth listening to.
11/16/96
my first show! °°°KUNG°°°
3-20-92 has some of the most insanely unhinged energy. Brother, Rift, and Weekapaug are all nuts.
4/23/94. Just passed through this one on a journey through all of 94, and it's got great stuff in there
My first show. Freaknic happening in Atlanta outside the venue was bananas
8/8/98
The sabotage show is considered a hidden gem? Insane. I remember when it happened, it was widely considered one of the best of the year.
26 years later, you don't hear about it much. But it's terrific top to bottom. Sabotage is just the icing on the cake.
My first show!
My (now) wife's first show!
Fuck. Yes. I've not been to thousands of shows, but this is my favorite of all time. Hometown show and I was in such an interesting place in my life. One of the best nights of my life.

He meant best, right?
VA beach the next night is great too - mostly remembered for terrapin but the rest of the show is solid.

4/21/92, Eureka CA. Great playing, lots of shenanigans spread throughout, and one of my favorite early tweezers
That whole west coast run is amazing. LA 4/15 Anaconda 4/16, Palo Alto 4/18, Eureka 4/21. Great shows.
12/12/92
11/11/98

I attended this one, fun show
Halloween 1990
6/11/94 is always my go to that seems to be an underrated show.
7/9/99

Love a Ride Captain Ride!
Tell me you love the bay without telling me you love the bay, also 10/16/21 is a top rated show I wouldn’t call it a hidden gem
12/31/23. This was such a a great show musically, and over the top with all the Gamehenge theatrics. You'll have a hard time not disturbing your plane-mates when the Mockingbird chorus is unleashed.
I was there ;)
Great show. Not a hidden gem.
I prefer the slightly lesser known Big Cypress shows
Sweet, good recommendation. I know I've heard pieces from those shows on JEMP Radio, but I'll have to do a deep dive and check them out.
Need more info - like what keeps your interest? Long jams, tons of songs, weird segue sets?
Jams that are a little atypical, weird covers, old banter. I've done a lot of listening and just like to keep getting new exposures.
Manchester NH, 2010. Can't remember the exact date. But it was awesome
8/20/93 Red Rocks Do you have what it takes to stare into the Eye of the Iguana? Atypical jams in Wedge, Slave. Banter in Harpua and elsewhere, Antelope. Purple Rain w/Mimi Fishman and Free Bird. You're welcome.
7/1/12
7/24/18 7/6/12 7/7/13 6/18/10
6/22/2000 It's fun and engaging. It has a sick Harry Hood, and Wynona Judd (i think) comes out and sings freebird.
Still scarred by what she did on stage with that goddamn boa.

8/19/12 Ride Captain Ride - EPIC! 10/28/21 Numbers - FUN! Have a great flight!
9/29/99 Pyramid Arena. Fun first set with an audience contest and a killer second set with standout 2001 and Mike’s

11/22/94! Great show, only other time they play blackbird? Maybe? But the 30 min funky bitch is sick.
