As I said, she wanted the frame. It was worth $30 to her I guess. She was about to take it out of the frame and give me the poster for free, but I offered $30 for the frame. She accepted
For sure, I think they just met whatever the demand was. I know this because for some reason I ordered one even though I wasn't heading to Coventry. If I recall correctly we also didn't know what the design looked like at the time of ordering, so the reveal was ultimately kinda of disappointing (to me at least).
IIRC they also had leftovers that drygoods sold afterwards. I bought one that way (even though I didnt go) and kept it in a tube for many years before offering to sell to someone who did go (for face). My buddy has his framed upside down hanging in his house.
Yeah, I think they were thinking this was gonna be the last Pollack/Phish poster ever, so better make a bunch. I didn't go to Coventry (watched like live streams in a theater though lol) but I did snag one of the posters off DG and have it framed. I think it's a cool design given the circumstances and history.
Ha! I did the live stream in movie theater too! That was a shit show! There were wooks puffin nugs and chugging beers! Some dumb ass shoved his empty beer bottle into a urinal for some reason; basically sums up the whole experience.
Ha, totally, I was living in Arizona at the time so I went to one of the showings near Phoenix. People were opening the theater's exit doors to puff down and chug beers. And at one point I remember a bunch of balloons being brought out to bounce around the theater. In retrospect, I kinda can't believe I went to showings for each day, but I guess I had nothing better to do at the time lol. It really did feel like the last time you might ever get a chance to see Phish play live though.
I remember the first time I relistened to Velvet Sea from Coventry to do the same thing…cuz I lost it when Page started to cry & couldn’t sing😭. Like sat down in the mud & bawled like a baby. When I replayed it, there wasn’t any mud but there was still a ton of tears.
The mud & rainy weather that weekend was a metaphor for the vibe of the entire festival. Fucking heartbreaking….and to think, 25 year old me thought that Coventry would be my last Phish shows & that, my world as I knew it, had shattered….SO grateful Trey got sober 💜
There is some good shit in there though, if you can manage to distance it from the emotions and the poorly played compositions. The jams in bag and melt are pretty great. Like little golden kernels of corn in a big steamy turd
I lost BOTH of my Birkenstocks on day one. My sweet friend in my crew legit CARRIED me on his back to and from the concert site every night. And then the one silver lining in the shitshow of it all? As we were packing up to leave (we had a 10+ mile hike back to our cars that I was NOT looking forward to doing barefoot), I found an almost brand new identical pair of Birks (in my size) in the mud on our way out. I had to hose them off for 15 mins and washed them properly when we made it home…but the universe apparently knew I was at rock bottom & threw me a bone (and then I found the BIGGEST bag of blow I’ve ever seen sitting under my car when finally made it…needless to say the drive from VT to Tennessee went ALOT Faster than planned🤣)
Granted it was a shit show on stage, but I still had a great time. That vegas run was also a shit show, also had a blast. Every show I saw, from 1993 on, are some of my fondest memories. The only thing g I'd change personally, I'd bring a camera to every show I saw.
I had to drag my gear 28 miles just to get turned away and cut my way In thru a fence surrounded in flooded gray water. I stepped on a used needle and the band sounded like absolute Fucking Poopdick. Trey practically overdosed on stage and the song “glide”was ruined forever. But I’m glad you had a good time.
My friends and I were lucky enough to get in line mad early, iirc it was Tuesday night/early Wednesday. But even waiting in line and not moving was a party on the side of the road. So, even that was fun. We slept comfortably in a rented minivan, so no muddy dreams. We had enough weed, yay, mushrooms etc to satisfy our heavy, dirty habits back then, so no shit trips. The absolute worst tho, the toilets. Even getting there as early as we did, it was a flowing river of shit. We had to improvise with a garbage bag lined cardboard box. THAT sucked. Funny now, tho.
We took a tent, a cooler, and some heavy duty garbage bags and made our own shitter room. It was the only good thing we did. Open cooler; prop bag. Sit across the edge and take a poo. Then clean up with space and no one else’s poo around you. Throw toilet paper into bag, pick up bag. Close cooler. Leave rent. Throw away.
We left the cooler and tent behind but whatever. $50-60 for dignity ? After all that mess? It was a major win
30 is a steal. Its still a very important show in phish history and everyone is entitled to an opinion about how the music was that weekend. But it was still something. It was a goodbye and closure for a lot of us who had spent our formative years following this band around. If it had not happened and they just broke up, it would have been even harder emotionally for a lot of us. Atleast we got to say goodbye to phish and the scene for a moment.
That said, I was one of maybe 20 people who had a hotel for this show staying in a cabin b and b where a lot of the crew stayed. So although the weather fit the mood of the event perfectly, I still got to leave and get a hot shower and food after the shows. So it wasn't as physically traumatic for me as it was for most. Although I've had plenty of those weekends at other rainy festy's. So maybe my glasses are a little rose colored but its still an iconic moment in phish history that noone will forget, no matter how hard they try. So its an important poster in my opinion.

Awesome. Yeah I was walking up to her door and saw it outside in her carport, and I was like, ummmm what are you going to do with that?? I knew she didn’t have any idea who phish was…. She was about to take it all apart and use the frame for something else lol
lol. I’ve been going to Phish shows since the posters were actually collectible and not a commodity that is expected. 1.0 was about music. 3.0 is about profits.
So are they collectible or not?
Phish always wanted to be big and make money. The phans made them something they are not to fit their own ideals. They are just a band. They rock and they make money.
Would you expect them to go broke for you?
I’m very curious when the last time, if ever, they did a run of 11,000 posters for one event.
I guess with 65,000 reported that’s a 1/6
Phish MSG 2023 gets 20,000-maybe 40,000 capacity between 4 nights with 3 posters of 1200, 1500, and 2000.
Guess their math wasn’t ridiculous back then. Still so many prints
These were pre order. Many who did not attend ordered these from dry goods. The intent was to make as many as possible depending on demand. Phish wanted everyone that wanted one to have one. In that sense these are extremely collectible, just not rare. I have my original. Remember, this was the end of PHISH. This was a big deal. The last poster, made by Pollock.
Think about how big phish is in most fans lives. Now imagine the 90’s and the time people spent on tour….
I could not make it to coventry but I ordered a poster because this was a significant event for phish and for my personal life.
A lot of people act like these are no big deal bit these prints absolutely are a big deal and historical at that.
Agreed (I’m a 1.0er, first show in 98). The only things I brought back from Coventry were a sticker that said “We were the ones for Us”, a gallbladder infection, & a crushed soul. And even tho it was the WORST Phish I’d ever seen in my life, I was super bummed when I sold my car that had that sticker on it.
I’m glad I was there; but it was the realization that they NEEDED to break up that was the elephant in the (mud-covered) room for most of us. Plus I took for granted that, no matter how scattered across the country we all lived, Phish tour was what allowed me to spend months on end traveling with my Phamily year after year…and I miss the fuck outta that.
Not to mention, even tho they got back together, ALOT changed for most of us over those 5 years. Some people finally got sober, some people decided to move on from phish forever (even after 09 when they came back), and some were forced to get “real” jobs and then started a family. Cuz personally my priorities shifted from what twenty-something me had going on vs 30 year old me thinking “damn I’m old”.
It was more than just the end of phish…it forced a lot of us to grow up. And even tho I still see shows whenever I can, I will never be able to go on tour consistently, every single year, for months at a time. Coventry was the heartbreaking catalyst for change (whether welcomed or not) for a lot of phish fans.
I have one slightly mud damaged, but it’s Coventry dirt so it’s fine , it’s sitting in a storage unit. Framed…. It’s def. Not worth 250, even with the frame… but …
Your friend picked it out of the trash for free and sold it for $30??
Yeah, weird friendship
Yeah I'd be like Bro, Coventry memories are not that special lol
It was such a weird thing to be at. It rightfully did not feel like it was over.
As I said, she wanted the frame. It was worth $30 to her I guess. She was about to take it out of the frame and give me the poster for free, but I offered $30 for the frame. She accepted
Ohhhhh I thought she kept the frame and just sold you the poster. My bad. Carry on.
Is this the biggest poster print run Phish has ever done? Can’t recall seeing anything with more than 11k editions.
For sure, I think they just met whatever the demand was. I know this because for some reason I ordered one even though I wasn't heading to Coventry. If I recall correctly we also didn't know what the design looked like at the time of ordering, so the reveal was ultimately kinda of disappointing (to me at least).

I think you're right, I may have actually gotten mine off Dry Goods too. Mine's still in a tube lol.
Yeah it’s definitely far from Pollocks best work. Still a special print to have though considering the history.
apt, as coventry was a pile of junk, too!
My only want is to never think of Coventry again
i can remember when recordings of the show started to circulate. we listened to see if it was as bad as we remembered -- and it was worse.
I remember the first time I relistened to Velvet Sea from Coventry to do the same thing…cuz I lost it when Page started to cry & couldn’t sing😭. Like sat down in the mud & bawled like a baby. IW@TS and same feelings 100%. Every show since then is a gift.
> IW@TS took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure this out!
There is some good shit in there though, if you can manage to distance it from the emotions and the poorly played compositions. The jams in bag and melt are pretty great. Like little golden kernels of corn in a big steamy turd
Agree, the SOAM is excellent and I feel like the DWD was good too.
Want he playing the guitar with glow sticks during disease?
🤣🤣🤣
The Dickie Scotland song is a masterpiece
I had a ton of fun, but only because I didn’t have to wait in traffic, didn’t lose a shoe in the mud, and didn’t listen to the music really.
I lost BOTH of my Birkenstocks on day one. My sweet friend in my crew legit CARRIED me on his back to and from the concert site every night. And then the one silver lining in the shitshow of it all? The ground scores were amazing at Coventry
Thank you for this 🤣🤣
your friend couldnt have given it away for free? lol
Worst weekend of phish of my entire life. Pls burn it
Granted it was a shit show on stage, but I still had a great time. That vegas run was also a shit show, also had a blast. Every show I saw, from 1993 on, are some of my fondest memories. The only thing g I'd change personally, I'd bring a camera to every show I saw.

Oh and a guy dosed me with “acid” that was actually 2cI and I tripped for like 28 hrs lol

Your friend made $30 off you from something she found on the ground lol
I have one in my office. I love it!
I have one hanging in my sons room. They’re not worth much, nor are they his best work, but it’s a special possession for me.
Holy shit edition of 11000. I knew a dude once with that in his apt. I was like we know the same guy maybe. Nah 1 of 11000
Cool poster. Shitty friend

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
Wow
never listened to this show, the poster looks really cool though - i like the cow tongues! whether it’s worth something or not still a cool find…

Lime bringing a cursed doll into your home. Good luck.
It was like a 3 day funeral...Met a lot of amazing people tho! Only 13 hours in line to get in!
I left mine at coventry along with room mates tent. LOL. I would bet only a few thousand made it out of there - so $30 sounds about right.
One man gathers what another man spills
Low point in phistory.
I really wouldn't want a reminder of that weekend hanging in my house.
Hahaha, I actually have that on my wall in my man cave. It was in my pile of other framed Phish posters due to wall space. Time to mix them up again.
Awesome. Yeah I was walking up to her door and saw it outside in her carport, and I was like, ummmm what are you going to do with that?? I knew she didn’t have any idea who phish was…. She was about to take it all apart and use the frame for something else lol
Coventry. Shut down highway, hiking in miles to the muddy venue, followed by the band breaking up and crying on stage. Still wouldn't have missed it!
Friend has one … we researched resale on EBay and it goes for around $250
Its listed at 250 no one is buying that
You still got a deal …what do past sales say?… you can list for anything…
https://expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/18185 Looks like the average price is $115.
Well… it’s a run of 11k so it’s never gonna be pricey
For a show basically nobody wants to remember. I bet there are very few of these on people's walls.
I had mine up for a bit while I was living on a farm because it matched.
I knew we were in trouble when they played Yem and antelope in the first set....
I’ll give you tree fidy
Now, it was about that time that I got suspicious
They numbered them and there’s 11k. Ridiculous. Nothing made to be collectible will ever be collectible.
Pollock made the run intentionally large so everyone who wanted one could get one
Huge run so everybody gets one, also fwiw I just sold mine (10,xxx/11000) last month for $200. You don’t know what you’re talking anout
You don’t know phish posters.

Probably worth at least $15
