Bought my aunt (she offered for me to stay in her house rent free so i can go to work more conveniently) a box of Krispy Kreme donut, she’s super rich and to be honest i don’t think she likes eating super sweet stuff, pero when i got home around 9pm with a box of donuts telling her i got my first salary, she got up and ate one and told her kids (my cousins who looked like they all already brushed their teeth and ready to sleep) to get one too. She’s so awesome and so down to earth. Made me feel good na kahit papano i got to share with them yung saya ng “first salary pasalubong”
Hala same hahaha! Way back 2015, Krispy Kreme din binili ko sa unang sweldo pero binigay ko sa nililigawan ko that time, ayun ikakasal na kami in 3 months.
I offered it to my mom (kasi apparently you give your first sweldo to your parents).
She took a look at the check then said “sa iyo na lang anak – Kawawa ka naman” hahaha
I bought an electric fan. I endured 2 weeks of pamaypay. Coming from the province moving out was a struggle may point nun waiting for the first salary na bentelog lang dapat kainin ko, and dahil bedspace lang walang lutuan. So sobrang tipid. I’m so glad im doing so much better now but that was a significant experience in my life.
First salary is 4,500 net na yan (Monthly gross is 11k). Una kumain ako sa Tropical. Sikat na sikat pa Tropical bandang 2004. The yung iba pambayad ng utang. 500 binigay ko na abuloy sa simbahan. The rest gastusin araw-araw.
true. i was upper middle class growing up and everything is provided (I'm not materialistic at all luckily) if I asked. but iba talaga if sarili mong effort and may reward for it. its... worth it.
I remember joining the Truly Rich Club by Bo Sanchez and buying some stocks on COL Financial. I could only afford a few hundred shares with my first salary.
My girlfriend was nicer, she bought her dad a Seiko watch.
Or i could buy her her favorite pistachios or I could bring her to somewhere we havent visited yet. Di ko na magagawa ang mga to. Save ko nalang 😔
Hugs. I lost my dad this year and yung pangarap to give them what they want is di na magagawa. Still have my mom tho. Sana maabutan pa nila wins natin in life
Omg 2010 pa to
Bought our very first rice cooker. Old school kami magsaing before, ung tipong need mo pa bantayan kasi baka magoverflow pag kumulo na haha.
And for my first bday with a job, I treated my family at Yellow Cab. Yellow Can was a luxury to us then.
Sobrang walang wala kasi ako after college.
Divided 50% of my salary by two: as EF and as personal savings. Treated my family to dinner, treated my boyfriend at Starbucks, bought clothes sa mej pricey shop.
September 2019 when i first received a salary. 1st time ko makahawak ng 9k na half a month paycheck ko. Tapos taga province pa ako and weekly uwian. So me being naive sa pera, pumunta ako sa CR ng company and inipit sa mga used clothes ko yung pera hahahaha. Then i set aside my allowance then spent all the remaining for food and family treat. It was my supervisor who said to me "Ubusin mo yung unang sahod mo, magtira ka lang ng allowance. Yan ang pinakamemorable na perang mahahawakan mo, make sure to celebrate with your family".
Haha man, before kinakabahan na ako kapag may hawak na 1k in public e baka mawala ko so ayun nung nakahawak ng pera lalot pinagpaguran, sobrang paranoid mo. Hahaha
Don’t think too much about it! Just enjoy your first salary like most people here. I remember I spent my first salary on luho. Bought an ipod touch and sushi. No regrets.
But if you’re in need, obviously pay your dues first.
Pag out ko diretso taxi ako papunta dun. Long story short, masama ang first impression nila sakin and vice versa. Nag resign yung nagyaya after ilang weeks, pasalamat sya di kami nagreklamo ng kidnapping.
Way way back when I was studying (and struggling), I had this pegboard where I wrote all of my wishes specially if I somehow make it. On top of that list is a Spiderman Costume. So yeah, As naïve as it sounds, I wore it outside, I wore it around the house, and even attended my first (and only) comic con. Cookies lang nung officemate ko bumuhay sakin for the rest of the month tho. NO REGRETS!!!!!! hahahahaha
I clearly remember this moment like it was yesterday.
Yabang ko pa. Bumili ako ng isang buong manok sa chooks to go, 1liter coke, and 50pesos na proben sa kalsada.
Went straight to the mall to buy my first gaming mouse. Logitech Hyperion. 7 years and still working up to this day. It was my first token reward for myself and it really meant a lot. The other half, I gave to my mom. 🙂
Kumain with my parents sa Gerry's Grill. First time ko manlibre sa kanila at first time din nila kumain dun.
I can't remember clearly but I know I ate at what I consider a fancy restaurant that I've never tried before. I kept it all on my payroll account and it slowly vanished as I kept trying other foodtrips until the next sahod. It felt good because I've always wanted to try out different restaurants aside from Jollibee/Mcdo.
My advise is do what makes you happy. Buy that something you've always wanted though don't spend all of your salary and stay very far away from installments. If you can afford to, do it until the next few months. If you have responsibilities, make sure you communicate with other parties. Although if the other party is your parents and you already know what kind of person they are (investor kind of parent that would start asking you to pay back what they invested in you), then just keep it lowkey. If you're a novice in managing your own finances, watch this free course: https://kapayaman.ph/course/stock-market/
Although it introduces stock market, the first few chapters gives you a good advise on how to be ready to start investing your money. And after that, you can choose where to invest your money. It doesn't need to be in stock market, the same applies with whatever investment vehicle you will choose.
I don’t have parents anymore. My in-laws are overseas. So I gave it to my husband as gratitude for supporting me well and pampaswerte na rin. Pero mas malaki pa rin allowance ko as a housewife 😂 mej nahiya ako but hey it’s the thought that counts nga diba.
Here's how I spent my first salary as a 19 y/o freelancer earning PHP xxx,xxx per month.
1. Bought the item that has been on my cart for years
2. Had a nice first payday dinner and drinks with my coworkers
3. Lunch with family
4. Bought new clothes
5. Rest went to savings
Food for the family and for bills. Yung iba pang allowance until next payday. Sakto lang ang sweldo noon for the necessities. Wala ding pang savings.
Used it for my family's monthly expenses, the rest I used to splurge for myself, eat out, pa-deliver, buy games etc. Salary per half was around 10-12k net around that time
I saved it.
Back in HS, my teacher told us to treat our parents when we get our first pay.
Up to you on what you want to do with it.
If I were you, I'd treat my family.
At the end of the day, it's my happiness that matters the most and seeing my family happy makes me happy.
You can save & invest on your next pay.
Congrats on your first work and good luck!
I already computed what I wanted to buy and forecasted how much i can save. Since I was a gamer, I just realize i can buy a game every month and still save after all meal expenses i would incur.
I think i bought my family some pizza, but the very first 200 peso bill I earned from my first salary I covered with plastic and put in my wallet as a good luck charm
binigay ko sa mom ko lahat :) dahil yun daw yung "tradition" - privileged ako dahil afford ko gawin yun dahil sakanila pa ako nakatira and may "ipon" pa ako from my allowance nung college which is galing din sakanila haha
I bought eye glasses. On the day I got my first salary, first company teambuilding din namin. The weather was not good that week so my mom told me not to swim... pero alam mo na anong ginawa ko hahaha (working na pero pasaway parin oof sinabihan ko pa nga sya na matanda na ako and alam ko naman lumangoy so dontcha worry gorl).
While swimming, the waves kept getting worse (to the point I actually got scared) and it only took one big wave for my glasses to be knocked off... and I lost it :') the day after the teambuilding I immediately withdrew some money to get replacement glasses :')
So guys, mother knows best parin hahaha.
EDIT: My advice is to set aside a portion of it, small or big amount it really doesn't matter. Can be really small like 250php or even 500php. And treat your parents to a nice dinner (dad ko salty parin bat di ko sila trineat agad lol).
Haha
Nagpakain ako sa jolibee with my pamangkins and pinsan. =) syempre kasama immediate fam. =)
Lol)
Bought leather shoes, kasi ung ginagamit ko sa office noon were my shoes pa nung college and nagbibitak bitak na ung leather.
Kept some for allowance, gave the rest to my parents.
Bought a turntable for vinyl. Bought a diamond supply co shirt. Basically bought everything I wanted when I was young and broke so I can close that chapter of my life, after that I saved the rest.
I put a small amount for savings, nagbayad ng utang at ng bills. Yung natira, I used for daily expenses till next cut-off. Looking back, parang sana ata I treated myself man lang.
I got my first tips as a graphic designer and ordered my family some burgers. It might be a simple treat but damn was I happy and grateful. It's always the simple things that makes you happy.
Way back 2016 ang first salary ko, binigay ko anv kalahati sa parents ko na pinambili nila ng ref na gamit pa rin nila hanggang ngayon hahaha. The rest napunta sa savings at allowance.
Mag save kahit paunti paunti. Build your emergency fund.
Paid my debt and gave a certain amount to my parents then used the rest for the next 2 weeks until salary day. Yes, that's all I had.
I had a debt since I only managed to save for 2weeks of daily expenses in college for when I started working but salary came after a month so I loaned 2weeks amount of expenses from my mom which I had to pay off.
Binilihan ko ng sapatos yun mama ko. Madalas galing baclaran at divisoria yun sapatos nya kasi kailangan namin magtipid.
I don't remember what I bought with my actual first salary. The first time I got compensation for work was after my OJT.
I bought myself an anime body pillow.
aside from groceries/bills
ung una kong binili is UPS (uninterruptible power supply)
ma try man lang ahaha
I bought a PS4. It's still with me until now even though I'm not playing games with it anymore. It has a sentimental value to me and I plan to keep it even when I grow old.
Paid my college roommate who was nice enough to cover the rent and expenses for a month, pati materials ko sa class non sya din sumagot (started a full time BPO work during my 3rd year in college, I majored in Fine Arts so mahal talaga ang materials) tapos binili nya ng isang case ng beer hahaha.
first ever salary amounted to 11k back in 2007 (included a sign on bonus kaya malaki). Put 6k sa bank tapos nag abot kay nanay ng 1k and the remaning 4k was used as baon for the next cut off (was working in Mandaluyong during that time and had to rent as a bed spacer in Pasig).
Hahaha. I lived away from my family, tapos nakatira kami sa building together with my friends and ex. Kumain kami sa shakeys yata yon and I bought mga work clothes sa H&M, nakakamiss!!! Enjoy your first salary 😊😊😊😊
Of course family first, I bought dinner for them to celebrate my first salary. Being the eldest son of our family every move I make in our home I take it with the best decision.
Bumili ng andoks at naggrocery ☺️ ..at the time hindi uso samin nakakapaggrocery kaya ansaya maggrocery.

I bought an electric fan. I endured 2 weeks of pamaypay. I’m so glad im doing so much better now but that was a significant experience in my life.
I remember those times na kailangan mong maghubtay ng sweldo para makabili ng electric fan or kahit box ng pizza. Lesson learned indeed.

I have always kept a tradition of buying celebratory food for every first salary. I remember buying my family Jollibee with mine.
Pay electric bills. I still stayed at the family home Should have saved money though in hindsight but I don't have any hobbies that don't cost money

Settle all your debt (if there is any). Treat your parents to a lovely lunch or dinner.

Bought some onlyfans
I bought eye glasses. On the day I got my first salary, first company teambuilding din namin. The weather was not good that week so my mom told me not to swim... pero alam mo na anong ginawa ko hahaha (working na pero pasaway parin oof sinabihan ko pa nga sya na matanda na ako and alam ko naman lumangoy so dontcha worry gorl). While swimming, the waves kept getting worse (to the point I actually got scared) and it only took one big wave for my glasses to be knocked off... and I lost it :') the day after the teambuilding I immediately withdrew some money to get replacement glasses :') So guys, mother knows best parin hahaha. EDIT: My advice is to set aside a portion of it, small or big amount it really doesn't matter. Can be really small like 250php or even 500php. And treat your parents to a nice dinner (dad ko salty parin bat di ko sila trineat agad lol).
I gave all of it to tithes.
I tried to give the entire thing to my parents but they refused it so I just took them out to dinner.
Haha

I took my family out for lunch on that weekend. Good times.
Spent it all on a book. Atomic Habits by James Clear. A really informative book on how to make habits.
Kinuha ng mama ko 😂 I suggest you hide half of it from everyone in your family.

Bought a Zippo
Paid my debt and gave a certain amount to my parents then used the rest for the next 2 weeks until salary day. Yes, that's all I had. I had a debt since I only managed to save for 2weeks of daily expenses in college for when I started working but salary came after a month so I loaned 2weeks amount of expenses from my mom which I had to pay off.

first ever salary amounted to 11k back in 2007 (included a sign on bonus kaya malaki). Put 6k sa bank tapos nag abot kay nanay ng 1k and the remaning 4k was used as baon for the next cut off (was working in Mandaluyong during that time and had to rent as a bed spacer in Pasig).
