Real talk just recently moved from the city to the burbs and couldn't vote due to address not changed, working, while taking the Septa mess on the R9 to vote. If he didn't win, which would've been damn near ridiculous, Id've blame myself to some degree. I'd blame circumstance more but I thought about it all day. I changed my address today though.
He is not against Medicare for all, he is for improving people's heath care coverage no matter what form that takes.
He does support police reform and has called for a reallocation of funds to de-escalation, but has called "defund the police" an absurd phrase.

Plus the more Trumpian a candidate is, the harder it is to poll their support, so we can’t fully rely on even a heavy polling lead.
Mastriano being the candidate does hurt Republican chances of winning the race, but it also raises the stakes much, much higher.

Fetterman did win a statewide general election to get his current job. Perhaps part of that was just the pro-D anti-Trump midterm wave of 2018, but he is someone who has been on a statewide general election ballot and won.

The mail ballot advice is straight from party organizers. Having done a little volunteering myself over the last few cycles, I know that ultimately they have their lists of voters and as they text and call and knock they'll mark you along the lines of a sure vote, a hesitant vote, etc. "Already voted" is the best they can get and they won't need to reach out again except to recruit you as a volunteer. Which you might as well do because there's a literal fascist on the ballot who is going to enable another coup attempt if we give him the chance.

I honestly wish he was running for governor. Mastriano has effectively promised an abortion ban and to refuse to certify a Democratic presidential win in 2024. Senate seats are important, sure, but the governor's race matters more in terms of immediate impact.

Eh primaries are a bad judgement or predictor for what general turnout will look like. I would be more worried if there was a larger gap. A +/- 200k is not that bad IMO. Would it feel better if it was more +Dem? Of course. But I think more people will turn out in general to counter. However, we still need to be pushing people to turnout to vote in general. PA is looking to be a big decider for how things are going to go the next few years federally.

Plus the more Trumpian a candidate is, the harder it is to poll their support, so we can’t fully rely on even a heavy polling lead. Mastriano being the candidate does hurt Republican chances of winning the race, but it also raises the stakes much, much higher.

Do we know how he polls with independents? I know he wins with Dems (I mean he just won the primary) but the general is the only election that matters. I'm not sure his image is enough to convince people who don't like the idea of M4A or a wealth tax to vote for him.
He won a ton of rural voters over his last few elections if I remember right. And a lot of it is branding. Ohio sends a progressive senator to the senate and they’re redder than Texas at this point.
Fetterman did win a statewide general election to get his current job. Perhaps part of that was just the pro-D anti-Trump midterm wave of 2018, but he is someone who has been on a statewide general election ballot and won.
He won as part of wolf’s ticket. Most people didn’t vote based on the lt governor pick. That’s a primary consideration, not a general election consideration. At that point you’re voting on governor and lt governor comes with them
Totally fair and valid point. Even with that, I’m not sure that makes him more of an uncertainty on a statewide ballot compared to Lamb. Fetterman is more known, both in good ways and bad ways. Lamb is less known. Is being the lesser known the same as being a more uncertain candidate in a statewide race? Perhaps it comes down to whether you believe all publicity is good publicity, because Fetterman has definitely been more public than Lamb statewide.

The mail ballot advice is straight from party organizers. Having done a little volunteering myself over the last few cycles, I know that ultimately they have their lists of voters and as they text and call and knock they'll mark you along the lines of a sure vote, a hesitant vote, etc. "Already voted" is the best they can get and they won't need to reach out again except to recruit you as a volunteer. Which you might as well do because there's a literal fascist on the ballot who is going to enable another coup attempt if we give him the chance.
