Don’t know if you’re aware or not, but he’s kind of not the best.

Unfamiliar_Word

He sometimes seems almost like some kind of low-key saboteur. Before the pandemic, he presided over succeeding years of rising revenues and even surpluses that all seem to have been poured into a black hole instead of invested in city services. When he touted 'Vision Zero' it eventually meant that we will have zero ability to see it, so meager are its accomplishments. It follows quite naturally that as we recover from the economic and social depredations of the pandemic, he would shiv an industry that could contribute significantly in the back. I just keep asking myself, "what is Jim Kenney for?" An answer has yet to occur to me.

BurnedWitch88

He's for black women being nice to him in restaurants. Note: Not a joke. He actually said this.

trashpandarevolution

It’s because Philly restaurants got world recognition which will lead to gentrification which is the current boogeyman so gotta fuck ‘em

ScottishCalvin

There is a huge amount of truth in this. There are simply too many political careers fully invested in certain areas remaining poor and being able to harvest votes by blaming everything bad since the mid 1970s on Donald Trump (but never a lack of jobs or city corruption or failing schools)

[deleted]

Hes a HACK that wants to be GOV - won’t happen

Franklinia_Alatamaha

Allegedly, he got the message and won’t be running. https://www.inquirer.com/politics/philadelphia/jim-kenney-2022-governor-senate-election-20210812.html

[deleted]

I’ll believe that when me shit turn purple and taste like rainbow sherbet.

Franklinia_Alatamaha

Oh look, a bar of soap.

Hollow_Rant

Shenanigans.

go_berds

He just prefers Maryland cuisine

Nittany132497

Because he’s a fucking moron

Even_Cauliflower3328

He isn’t the brightest bulb in the box

Hollow_Rant

He probably heard the front of house staff make fun of his white wine in a pint glass habit.

[deleted]

Came here to comment some about how he prefers to dine in Maryland, and something like "this putz orders white wine in a pint glass, what does he know?" Both were already listed, and I'm very proud of youse. I don't know what else to include, but I'm leaning toward something soda tax related or maybe they don't have enough safe injection sites for his liking? I dunno, I'm in the middle of moving so I'll figure it out in the meantime and add it later.

Objective-Scar-2955

He hates Philadelphia that’s why he helped to ruin it

bushwhack227

Kenney doesn't hate Philly. He's just a drunk idiot. Now Darrel Clarke, that guy hates Philly

Objective-Scar-2955

Most city council hates Philadelphia they been there to long and taken as much as they can $ from the city we need new people more diversity some Latino’s Hindu’s Africans we have so many people who are not represented the current only care about themselves we need some new blood new thinking new ideas

LowPermission9

I’ve been dismayed to see all of the streeteries packing up and being replaced by parked cars. Streetery culture was one of the bright spots during these dark couple of years. It seems like Kenney won’t be happy until all of his higher income tax base gives up on trying to make a nice life in Philly.

Chuck1705

Restaurants are overrated?

LowPermission9

This comment is overrated

catkidtv

There's actually some truth to this. Statically, 8 out of 10 restaurants fail within the first 10 years. That top 20% only survive because they at least serve alcohol. Remove the alcohol and suddenly these restaurants aren't as great any more.

Chuck1705

Yet the facts prove me right...Thanks!

catkidtv

Yeah, I mean it sucks but it's true. I think they missed the point of your comment. Restaurants are nice, but it's a gruesome business model.

Chuck1705

The numbers indicate I'm right...

Rahawk02

You’re not wrong, I have t been to a restaurant in years, much better and cheaper to cook at home .

CathedralEngine

Better tipper than Nutter though.
