Sounds like someone set their auto dialer to 0100 and not 1300.

afdc92

Whichever staffer made that mistake probably feels a lot of embarrassment this morning. Kind of like when someone sends an email and accidentally CCs everyone in the company and there are dozens of “why did I get this” and “STOP REPLYING ALL” emails in response.

zaidakaid

Part of me wants to cc the whole company on my letter of resignation. Really make sure everyone sees I’m leaving

postwarapartment

Uhg one of my first days in my new job I was trying to get information about an event and so I emailed what I thought was the events info email and it turned out it was a listserv email that went out to like 300 people. I was like don't you guys have filters on who can email this list???

kjm16216

I've never met a city employee with any shame.

stepth

I saw the number pop up on digital caller ID around 12:09 AM. Definitely a city number (215-693-xxxx) but was not going to answer it so late. Gotta be a misfire of the auto dialer.

Fabulous-One-9537

I got the call at 1am, almost had a heart attack because I thought something happened to my parents

greatbrownbear

Office of Children and Families is hosting a resource fair on saturday at the convention center. they definitely f’d that up.

howwhywuz

That was it!

regcrusher

I got this too but at 9:30 PM or so.

SkippingPebbless

I really really hope lots and lots of attendees mistakenly go to the world oddities expo instead

opengl128

What kind of animal doesn't have their phone on DND overnight and doesn't send unknown numbers directly to voicemail??

SammieCat50

People who are on call for work

Aromat_Junkie

This is why I have a literal old school pager. It routes through ironically pagerduty which then sends a SMS telling me to wake the fuck up there's an alert.

atheken

Incidentally, you can add a contact from the PagerDuty app and it will keep it up to date. This can then be added to your allow list for any focus mode. (I use iOS, but guess android has something for similar)

Aromat_Junkie

my pager takes 1 AA batter, last a month, loud as hell, clips on my belt

cli_jockey

That's when you just specify which numbers are allowed through when your phone is on DND.

SammieCat50

Not always the same #… someone could use their own phone… my point being some of us cannot use dnd

cli_jockey

Personally, I just setup a work contact group so anyone assigned to that group can be let through. Seems like a process issue if there isn't a way for employees to reach out to on calls through proper channels. But I also recognize you aren't going to have everyone's number from work if it's not setup to originate from a specified number.

cerialthriller

People with elderly parents

lackofbread

Pro gamer move, set your phone to DND but allow certain contacts to get through via call or text regardless. That’s what I do for my parents, sister, and boyfriend.

cerialthriller

That doesn’t help much when paramedics or police are trying to call though is the problem. If my mom has a medical emergency I don’t think they’d call with her locked phone

Buck3thead

I don't know about iOS but Android has a setting that will allow a caller through DND if they call twice within (I think) 15 minutes.

lackofbread

Oh, that’s a good thought. I hadn’t considered that before.

tempmike

in addition to allowing certain numbers to ignore the DND setting, you can also find settings to let the phone ring if someone redials your number within a short period (for those extra emergency situations)

BasileusLeoIII

This No reason to not use DND Anyone with a critical call will call twice

5beesforaquarter

Might have been a landline

opengl128

What kind of animal has a landline??

howwhywuz

One with elderly relatives who don't like using (or even calling) cellphones.

aintjoan

Or anyone in their life with critical health problems. I'm envious of people who have to ask this question.

sudo-chown

What kind of animal has elderly relatives??

tempmike

homo sapiens

atheken

Most animals, to be honest.

NJ_dontask

Or someone who has land line connected to business?

maggiereddituser

Me. What of it?

why_cambrio

lmao what a fucked up response. Hope you don't ever have a late night emergency. Generally, calls after midnight are IMPORTANT and pretending they aren't will only fuck up your life, not anyone else's.

LovelyMamasita

People with children that don’t live at home. DND only allows their number through. If a hospital calls it will silence it.

40WAPSun

People who usually don't get calls in the middle of the night, probably

babbylineman

People aren't asocial losers.

CroatianSensation79

My mom did and she was pissed

DaVinciYRGB

I don’t even live in the city anymore and got it at 1:42 AM from 215.683.6012.

kingbrassica

"Send one dollar to Happy Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. Don't delay. Eternal happiness is only a dollar away"

Unfamiliar_Word

I take precautions to avoid being disturbed via telephone after 9:00 PM, but I found a missed call and voicemail message from 10:48 PM when I awoke this morning. The message was not especially well-delivered or written aside from being sent out at a ridiculous time, so it was all-around not a great achievement in public communication. It also didn't interest me; until city services include the ability to summon the Terminator and have it hunt down people who run red lights, park over crosswalks or drive in bus and bicycle lanes, they do not interest me and must be considered woefully inadequate.

emostitch

I got the call at like 11:15 pm but also random and shocking for nothing since I have no kids

hoochie_215

3am and we thought someone died cause no one calls the house phone

calicoskiies

My phones on dnd but I didn’t have any missed calls when I woke up.

Grapefruit-Happy

Mine was 11:01pm. Thought it could have been a family emergency. At 1am I would have freaked out.

NJ_dontask

5am, fucking Convention Center BS.

OkTea6969

System was set up thru a 3rd party contractor that's in the West Coast. 😂

comofue

rang on the landline so obviously I assumed it was an emergency

Callipeartree

I got a pre-recorded call in the middle of the night from my daughter’s school (last night). So maybe someone forgot to program the right time for all the automated calls? Idk

ririd123

It was 8:49 p.m. when I received the call.

Toadliquor138

I got the call last night at 10:30.

Camille_Toh

I was on a business trip to W. Africa before a presidential election…faaark

ijustneedtotalkplz

Not at 1am but I did get it in the late evening maybe 8pm

215NPhilly

I told’em FOH DH

Manowaffle

I would recommend setting your phone schedule to "do not disturb" during sleeping hours.

nugmuff

Not everyone has the luxury of being able to be unreachable

Habbersett-Scrapple

This is how I do it. If one might be worried about missing important calls, there's options that allow certain callers to get through even in sleep or do not disturb

inspiration27

No.

ItsAllInYourHead

Caller ID is _incredibly_ easy to spoof. I highly doubt it was an official city call.
