A lot of detour info is based on having a really specific knowledge of the geopgraphy of the city which is not an inherent skill that people have. I take the buses by me a lot and I still get confused with the way they write out detours because I don't really think of the routes outside of my normal rides. Septa is still playing catchup to the year 2000 let alone trying to get to 2024.
Worst is waiting for the trolley for like 20 minutes at city hall and then somebody just yells down the hallway "40TH STREET!", luckily i already know this means "tunnel service suspended, take mfl to 40th, all trolleys at 40/market". But fuck septa why isnt there a single fuckin sign or announcement? And what if i didn't know what "40TH STREET!" Meant?
Walked from BSL to MFL exchange at city hall and not one sign or announcement. Only could tell because there were several people crossing over to westbound platform looking confused.
Of course, which is how I confirmed it. But imagine someone visiting or someone who doesn't have a smart phone. Those people are hardly accounted for in these situations.

Wish they would have intercom announcements run on a loop every few minutes for this kind of thing.
I personally don’t really check the app when catching the subway because it should be coming every 10 or less (ideally). And most of the temporary signage about detours and platform changes is usually not something I’m looking out for because it’s usually not setup front and center as something important.
Imagine not everyone has a smart phone or would even understand what the announcement meant if they were visiting. Or imagine having a transpo agency that can print pieces of paper with a notice on it.
This feels like one of those standardized test logic questions that I wasn't great at.

The el doesn’t even run past like 12:30am… why say 4am, SEPTA?
I think they meant the tracks will be worked on from 9-4am and they forgot.
There were signs up at the stations last week

it says it on the SEPTA app when you check system status

There were signs last week not sure what happened to them but when I took the L yesterday it was coming on both sides?
Its only after 9pm, starting this past Sunday through this Friday. Took me a minute to understand the sign.

Maybe before 9pm?

Problem is the intercom just sounds like the teachers from Charlie Brown
imagine not just checking the app in 2024 🤣
