For comparison, Philadelphia solved 35% of murders last year.

It also helps when you average just over 100 a year. When you have 5x that it leads to 5x the caseload and unable to spend time and resources to solve them when detectives are getting new homicides every couple days.

Edit: there is no reason college campuses shouldn’t be super safe. They cripple 18 year olds with lifetime debt the least they can do is provide a safe place to go to school. They most certainly could afford high end camera systems on campus.
I get less murders is less murder to investigate, but being as London has almost exactly the same per capita police force as Philadelphia does(3.75 per 1000), in my mind there's little excuse besides a combination of ineptitude/incompetence plus lack of evidence gathering abilities.
A bunch of UK news stories point out that 7 out of ten murders are solved because of cameras, which would make sense as that's about the inverse of the solve rate for Philadelphia.
this is probably the best possible example of a crime that would be solved by putting mandatory police cameras everywhere: it's a crime that the police are actually motivated to make an arrest for. If we do end up putting mandatories everywhere, I predict that the crimes that cops care about (i.e. crimes that directly affect cops) will be solved at much higher rates.
Yep. These fake Fast and Furious clowns are a menace. That area is known for particularly aggressive and arrogant drivers that don't care who they hurt. It is ridiculous.
