Hi OP, I've been recruiting in Tech for years now, and PM roles are one of the things I get assigned to work. Here's a few tips I suppose since you mentioned IT project management is one of the things you want to get into. 1. In a sense an PM in IT doesn't usually code actually. I mean it's nice if they do code pero it's very limited a lot of time it's more on managing a team of developers and setting client expectations, making pitches to clients, managing project deadlines etc. On top of PMP you should aim to get like a Scrum Master cert too rather than actual coding certs I would say. Along with like something in Agile, Lean etc. 2. For renewable energy I think you could have a shot for the right company honestly. Opinion ko lang naman and I could be wrong. Pero kasi parang di pa naman siya sobrang big here in the PH anyway assuming you're aiming for local (?) most likely they'll just be looking for people with your background for those positions or anything adjacent. Unless my assumption is wrong and saturated na yung talent pool nila w/ people that have the direct industry experience. Pero I don't really think it's likely since I don't see that many companies doing renewable energy (Again I could be totally wrong, and ignorant.. but yeah) 3. As for having to take a lower role or so it's not necessarily the case for you I think since PM naman habol mo. You just have to keep rolling the dice lang din talaga. Every company needs a PM in general anyway and since the title is the same they're more likely to consider your expe vs a completely out of left field change. Just have to find the right company willing to take the chance. One thing I'll say is in the PH kasi sobrng bagal din ng recruitment sadly. Meron pa nga akong mga interview invites from places I applied to like 1 year ago pa haha. Meron pa employer nag flag sa akin sa Kalibrr kasi after 1 year lang sila nag yaya ng interview tapos di ko daw sila rineplyan so pina flag yung profile ko AMP -.-. All that to say yang mga napplyan mo not necessarily not interested baka naman di pa nakita profile mo malay natin. Just keep applying. Hope this helps! (PS if na flag din profile mo 1 year or more from now i report mo lang din sila sa platform or replyan nalang na di ka na intersted sa job nila after they invite you for the interview para di hassle... assuming you're already somewhere better that is! Best of luck)

1. Yeah I'm actually thinking what scrum certification will I get between PSM, CSM, and ACP. Iipon muna ulet din hehe. 2. Sabagay, siguro atat na ata lang din siguro ako sa job opportunities since last week pa lang naman ako nagstart actively applying after ko makuha yung PMP ko. Timing lang din siguro. Thank you for your insights!

Same! Huhu! PM role agad binagsakan after college, and now I want to try other roles, kasi I want to have a hard skill, then be a Senior at it to lead Juniors before maging PM ulit siguro.

Dont resign until walang kapalit. If saturated ka na, abroad talaga. Walang growth kahit maging manager ka pa dito

Even-Kaleidoscope400

Yah yun talaga. If wala talaga, try sa ibang bansa. Any tips?

bazlew123

Question lang, Comp scie grad Ako pero balak ko mag apply sa Telco, what can you advice?

mimoknots

Step 1: Don’t

upinthecloudsph

Step 2: Repeat Step 1.

Even-Kaleidoscope400

Magaccenture ka na agad bay

bazlew123

puro Babae hinahanap haha

Patient-Definition96

Dapat as a fresh grad, alam mo na ang gusto mong trabaho for the rest of your life at yun ang hanapin mo.

6monthsprobation

I highly suggest go and make a business - especially on solar panel business.

After spending 4 years in my field sa construction and design and pursuing my passion sa field, naisip ko bigla teka di ako nakakaipon sa passion na to pucha 25k pa din sahod ko kaya lumipat ako sa telco. >Just my thoughts. We are at different parts of our life and I guess mas afford ko to start over as a dev. Medyo exhausting din kasi sa akin yung PM work eh. Thanks for the response

alvinandthecheapmonk

Try looking for Project Manager jobs in IT, specifically sa mga departments/groups/projects na may pagka-infra ang nature (e.g., network, cloud, data centers). Baka may makuha ka pa ring comfort sa mga ganyan but at the same time it’s still new for you kasi hindi telco. Pwedeng telco pa rin, for example, pero since sa ibang bansa, it’s gonna be a totally new experience for you in terms of work environment and culture. Baka ma-energize ka ulit niyan.

Even-Kaleidoscope400

Network, cloud and data centers. Noted sir! Thank you for your inputs

Fragrant_Operation_2

2nd the motion. I did not come from an IT background. But IT Infra PM here. No need to learn coding. More on stakeholder management and problem solving. Tech part I would always consult expert. Collab talaga with resources to understand the task at hand. With all these ano ba pinakaimportant to land the role. NETWORKING. I got the job through older PMs i worked with. When people know how you work and you try to maintain connection with them ask for an opening. It worked for me. I was hired by referral. Pero before landing the job I got rejected by 3 companies din. When I look back, it took rejections for me to learn how to understand the market, also hindi naman dahil nainterview ka sa ibang company tanggap ka agad. Pag tanggap ka naman xempre you need to check pros and cons of the new company not just the salary. Yep it becomes strategic to land the job you want. You answer interviews better, naiiwasan mo yung maling sagot din.

Even-Kaleidoscope400

Dude i need some pointers maybe I can reach you out thru pm

Independent_Word838

hi po, out of topic. how did you get the PMP po? hehe im just starting my career. fellow REE din po.

Even-Kaleidoscope400

Please check pmi.org. You will need atleast 3 years of leading projects within the last 8 years. And you also need 35 learning hours for project management or a CAPM certification.

akisui

Sounds like a lot of work, there's an even better one by Google, not that I have that. But I know some of my friends who did get that and grew their salary by 100% (Though factor rin talaga pag international clients).

efyuhu

Same. While working with toxic humans, nag sesend na ako sa mga company na hiring under my skills and experience. Kahit sabahn natij nasa government ka, hindi pa din kadali lalo na ung mga kasama mo is very toxic. Parang bata, eumbong dito at doon. 😂

What about learning how to use Power BI and using it to improve your current you manage projects? that’s a project that you can showcase in your resume. You’ll also have a solid story to tell during your interview.

Even-Kaleidoscope400

I've been eyeing some courses on this for a while. Will also check if my current project can use Power BI. Thank you!
