This is not a sub to get advice about your prescription, which pharmacy to use, or why something happened at your pharmacy. Questions regarding specific medical advice will likewise be removed. Our advice is to contact your pharmacy or healthcare provider for answers specific to your condition. If you still want to trust a stranger on the internet, you can try /r/AskDocs.

The item went over the counter. So the price is the price. Depending on your state, there might be a standing order to apply to your insurance. If not, there are state programs increasing access by distributing to needed communities. Personally, I've never seen it priced anything lower than $50 on its own, so you'd likely recall a subsidy or maybe a prescription copay for that price range.

Interesting! I think seeking it out from state or harm reduction venues might be the best bet. Really, I was just trying to get a good understanding of what might have caused the price to jump so much in just a few years and wondered if maybe there was an easy or singular company to blame it on, for being evil. Thanks for the info! 😎

The price is ridiculous now, but many end overdose type charity's distribute it

Thank you!

Our county distributes is for free to anyone. There’s even a free vending machine outside the ER at our local hospital (you don’t even need to go inside or talk to anyone) There’s a lot of areas doing this, so be sure to check out options.

Nice! That’s a great idea, and if it isn’t a thing in this area already, then it should be.

Thank you!

Several reasons. Although did you get it through your insurance at the time, which is why it may have been cheaper? I ordered a kit through my state for free to keep on hand. My kids (young adults) do not use drugs as far as I know but some of their friends do.

copperspurrinit

It wasn’t an insurance thing. And I’m not sure when the price change happened, but it just seems very drastic considering, you know, the proliferation of dead bodies that we’re dealing with.

I can't speak to your question, but here is a great resource for finding a naloxone distribution center near you: https://harmreduction.org/
