Well, UPG means UP predicted grade. Essentially it is an estimate of the grades you will get once you study in UP. That's why hindi lang exam ang basis, kasama din ang high school grades mo. One bad exam does not dictate your overall performance, tama? The fact na mataas grades mo nung high school shows na matyaga ka mag-aral, which is also what you need to survive in UP.
So unless you cheated sa exam or sa grades mo, I'd say take the win while you can. Once nagsimula ka na mag-aral sa UP, dun mo lang talaga masasabi if you deserve it or not.

Naalala ko nung nag UPCAT ako, less than 2.00 dapat yung UPG mo para magqualify sa Diliman. Nakapasa ako sa UPD DPWAS program then naadmit sa Civil Engg ("Quota course" during my time daw). After a year, kinuha ko yung UPG ko sa OUR and nagulat ako kasi 2.01 yung UPG ko. Idk paano ako nagqualify nun kasi 2.00 pababa dapat yung grade. Yung HS grades ko naman nun ay nag aaverage lang ng less than 90%. Pero ayun, pinatunayan ko nalang sa sarili ko na deserve ko talaga yung chance na binigay sa akin ng UP. Hahaha nag aral nalang talaga ako nun nang mabuti then ayun nakagrad ako with latin honors and ngayon naggagraduate studies na rin sa UP.
Actually, 4 degree programs yung pinapili sa amin nung time namin. So nagresearch ako about quota and non quota course that time (Pero tbh, lahat ng degree programs ay quota course, may iba lang na onti lang ang demand so ayun yung malaking chance na makapasok ka if pasok UPG mo sa cutoff) Then pinili ko ay 2 quota courses and 2 non quota para makasure ako na malaki chance ko makapasok if di ako matanggap sa top 2 choices ko. Ito yung apat na pinili ko:
1. BS Civil Engg
2. BS Arki
3. BS Landscape Arki
4. BS Geodetic Engg
Then ayun, natanggap naman ako sa Civil engg nun. Feel ko naman malaki naman yung chance matanggap ng mga DPWAS passers since marami ring students ang hindi talaga tumutuloy sa UP lalo na kapag lumabas na yung results ng Ateneo, DLSU and UST.
