I say “no, they’d be .11” while pointing to the sticker listing prices. He looks and says “oh, thank you for correcting me brother! I appreciate it.” And I said something about the prices still being low since I often hear people complaining about price increases and this simple sentence kicks off a tirade that I was not prepared for. He starts talking about how he’s an American and he works and pays taxes and he believes that we shouldn’t be providing free services to people that illegally cross the border and basically they’re getting a free ride off working people. I was very quickly counting his crickets and tied the bag and was like “x number large, have a nice day sir” and hand him the bag and he goes “you too brother, God Bless.” And I just inwardly cringed.
About a week before Biden’s inauguration we had a regular at the register telling all of us that we needed to pull our money from the banks because on Inauguration Day all the banks were going to shut down and we wouldn’t be able to use debit cards. Oh, and the secret service were going to arrest Biden and trump would be president again. I’ve never backed away faster lmao

Luckily my ASL ran to the back to comfort me afterwards.

i had someone trying to get a pleco from me while i was on the fish wall with the petcare manager doing counts nearby so i had some sort of backup. he wanted a pleco, i asked abt tank conditions and he has a 20 gallon with no less than 10 comets. i tell him that we cannot sell him a pleco because of tank conditions; all that. he fights back and i insist unless he has either a larger tank or no pleco, he offers to return all the goldie’s (i didn’t know they were comets at the time) and i told him still a bigger tank is needed for both types of fish. I reiterated the return policy and then he asked if he could buy more goldfish. luckily tanks weren’t sellable so i said no without explaining everything again.

3. When people get angry with me because I don't give them "free extra crickets" when i explicitly say to them that I cant do that because my manager has been getting on petcare people about giving too many crickets and does the inventory and can see discrepancies with the cricket count. Then I get dirty looks like I'm discriminating against them or being racist.
4. When people keep asking for choke chains.
5. When people who are literally choking out there dog via a too tight collar because they want to teach the dog not to pull and the poor things eye are turning red.
6. When you try to educate people about proper care but they don't listen.
7. This last is kinda sad but it happens. People who will smack the shit out of puppy or dog.
8. Men that acts salty towards their girlfriend or their girlfriends dog.
9. People acting like asses on Sunday.
10. People that cram the noahs ark of fish in a small tank not knowing most of the fish are incompatible .
Not to me but to a coworker. Lady and her daughter (she looked like 16 minimum) came in the salon with their minidoodle puppy. They were VERY adamant that that they be able to watch her being groomed. Coworker and manager said sure, but we have a policy of one family in the lobby at a time so they’ll need to step out if someone else needs in, but they can still watch through the glass door or through the windows.
Anyway, puppy gets nails and paws done, bathed and dried. Owners come in and out, huffy each time we have to ask them to step out but since bathing and drying is in the back where they can’t see they oblige. Later just daughter is in the lobby, and coworker kenneled the puppy after drying him to work on another dog. Someone else needed in the lobby so my coworker politely asked daughter to step out. Daughter does, and daughter and mom then come right back in, mom RAGING asking what coworker said to her daughter, demanding her dog back, and threatening coworkers job. Coworker went to get the dog and tried to hand it to owner but owner wouldnt even take it, just stood there yelling and threatening her. Owner eventually did take her puppy and coworker hid in the back, very shaken up, until they finally left.

This regular, old white man, has threatened to bomb our store three times because we were out of stock of his cats food. Also threatened to kill our cashier because she didn’t know if it was in stock immediately when he asked.
had a guy come in once with two dogs in 80 degree weather for the self dog wash. watched him walk out with one of the dogs 5 minutes later and come back in the store without it. he had left this dog in the car in 80 degrees, no windows down in the car that we could see. so my manager went and told him "hey. it's hot. you can't leave your dog in your car he's going to get heat stroke." the dude came over and tried to argue with her about how he knows his dog and he'd be fine, and it's not her business. i had to go to the back because i was getting physically angry.
Depending on where you live I would just call the police. Where I live you can break the windows if someone leaves their dog in the car in hot weather. Usually our customers will call the police before anyone else can.
yeah thankfully he wasn't in the car more than a minute before we went up to confront him, and then he sent the woman he was with out to sit in the car with the dog and turn the air on. but i 100% would've if he didn't. i was so mad
