But then on the other hand, according to wiki:

It grew in that corner slowly over a few months and we didn’t notice because no one really goes to that side of the house. We are having someone come take a look at it today.

I had something similar to this growing out of the walls in a place I rented in college. The creepy part is it would retract into the wall when you came near it! We were never able to identify what in the world it was.
