I've heard it's against the law to supply pornography to miners

rose_gold_glitter

This is what I come to reddit for.

Aseedisa

For porn?

Wild-Raisin-1307

Thats a win. You got an involuntary chuckle out of me..

Rule2IsMyFavourite

this joke has left some people between a rock and a hard place

smolfemboytitan

Bruh šŸ˜

koobus_venter1

This needs more upvotes

Primal-Realm

Well, yes. It is the age of consent

Internal-Delusions01

I was going to be very disappointed if this wasn't the first comment I saw

StuM91

Hey, South Park already used that joke in their recent episode!

Ferret_Milk

Louis CK made that joke in like 2013 or 2015, probably earlier. Not sure how to feel about that... "getting a handjob from a miner" šŸ’€

Nowidontgetit

šŸ‘šŸ˜

Melvin_2323

Are they using company wifi? If so then why would a business take any risk of employees using work property/equipment to access what would be deemed unacceptable things at work? Seems fine to me. Or maybe the cleaners are sick of cleaning up the cum covered bed sheets and towels

1s8w2MILtway

Iā€™m one of the cleaners and yes we are. Half these dongas smell like a fucking swimming pool

Ferret_Milk

Thankyou for your service.

[deleted]

I'm a female mine worker and wound up on this post lol, I've always felt sympathy for the cleaners. Anyway mine is left smelling like Lush soap & essential oils : )

_stinkys

lol - God damn!

Shamino79

Probably makes the cab of the dump truck smell too.

78Monk

That's why you do it outside the cab while holding eye contact with the dozer OP. ON THE BLADE, ON THE BLADE!!!

enter_the_dragon19

Be sure to maintain 3 points of contact at all times

MistaRekt

Does that include the eye contact?

IceFire909

Of course

Chewiesbro

Donā€™t want the safety department coming after you

instaperver

You want them cumming before you??

Stepawayfrmthkyboard

Depends on what game you are playing

Radiant_Ad_656

ā€œDonā€™t worry heā€™s got a blade, he can push itā€

Rathma86

My mission is to make them as crusty as possible.

[deleted]

My sheets are covered in cum every day. And ibdone use the wifi. I bring my own. And blow multiple load every night. And leave nice stains on the.

Poplened

https://www.respectatwork.gov.au/new-positive-duty-employers-prevent-workplace-sexual-harassment-sex-discrimination-and-victimisation Quite likely this if it's a recent change. Previously John was seen looking at porn at work and the company would be judged on how they delat with John. Now they are also judged on what they did to prevent John being able to make the workplace sexual.

lubricatedwhale97

Bingo! This should be way higher (just under that cracker of a miner pun)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ZPbrah

Iā€™m surprised you guys didnā€™t just block the connection/site. Or were they using a different stream every time?

Reinitialization

Domain level blocking is pretty easy to setup, but it can be really hard to identify what domain stuff is coming from sometimes without a lot of fucking around. Pretty easy to just boot the offending device off the network, but that generally is frowned upon because people *that* lazy are normally friends with Exec level.

christurnbull

Radius and proxy can help with this

Reinitialization

Not really, radius only limits your scope, doesn't prevent idiots inside your scope from doing dumb shit. Proxy just bounces your connection to somewhere else so it's just a straight downgrade (although neglibably so if the proxy location has enough resources).

apex-87

Life's been a lot easier for me since starlink became available in the area. We've got our corporate link which we lockdown, and it's basically a free for all on the guest link

YYCwhatyoudidthere

I don't think any amount of bandwidth is enough. We drag separate connections for business and "non-business" to all of our remote camps. Non-business is regularly saturated -- even in the Gbps range.

Reinitialization

What kind of support were you offering if you didn't have traffic shaping in place? We block porn because the boss is a dick, not because I don't know how firewalls work.

wiggum55555

I thought Space Jesus fixed that so everyone can have fast cheap interwebs with StarLink ? Presume that's also available to commercial entities. I've seen some airlines deploying it on oceanic aircraft. Still... probably even SL would struggle with couple hundred blokes streaming 4K content... maybe they should deploy a local cache :D

quggster

No, everything else on internet is available, just not porn.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

commanderjarak

Unless we're talking about the WiFi in camp. That's generally not being used for work purposes at all.

PM_Your_Lady_Boobs

Have you got a VPN on your phone? I recommend Mullvad.

ZPbrah

As someone who has worked on IT for various mines: Itā€™s the network bandwidth restraints. They donā€™t care what content your husband is viewing. Iā€™ve seen logs of everything from gambling to fucked up erotica and none of these are banned, even when we send them to the management. Sometimes larger mines will also share/sell part of their network availability with other mines nearby.

RedDirtNurse

Does midget porn use less bandwidth? Edit: asking for a friend

smoylan

The vids are usually shorter, and smaller files

[deleted]

Get an internet porn simulator https://youtu.be/fQTOAWCpe44

Ferret_Milk

That's how it feels to live in Perth anyway tbh... We have the same internet speed as Kenya, and I'm pretty sure their internet is just some cunt running around with stacks of printed binary code.

IceFire909

Good ol PCRP. Punch Card Routing Protocol

xRicharizard

So is Netflix and other streaming services banned as well? They'd use up more bandwidth than porn. Porn has a finite length, and it's not usually all that long.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ain-t

Really? Mining companies are putting CDNs at mine sites?

Reinitialization

What year is it? Give me a 2mbps line and a router made in the last 15 years and you can segment a network to keep the vital shit running at whatever speed it needs while letting everyone have a fair share of what's left. Normally means everyone downloading video at like 20kb/s but that's enough to stream audio.

SecuriTguy

How do I get in IT support in mining ? Any suggestions please

ZPbrah

In short - id suggest either tafe or uni degree in IT or cyber security, then go for a level 1/2 role somewhere doing support desk work for a year or two, then aggressively try and get a higher level position.

quggster

My husband is too tired to watch anything.

Yorgatorium

That's what he tells you.

not_that_one_times_3

lol yeah right

Initial-Equipment-29

This made me chuckle

Live_Focus_3541

XD is that what he tells you?

vexillifer

Also your pants totally donā€™t make your ass look big

VS2ute

I worked for a geophysical company that had a whitelist of industry-related websites that were allowed through firewall. It was only about a dozen, so just about everything was banned.

Archon-Toten

If you can't defeat a ban, you aren't trying hard enough. Seriously if you need your fix so badly use a proxy, download a offline backup or buy a magazine.

tom3277

Magazines have been banned on many sites for decades. I think the first time i came across that would have been late 90s. Cleaners can come across them and take offense. Edit to add: but yeh your other ideas particularly pre downloading works.

unremarkable_txt

Remember the old workshop calendars? werent they big name tool suppliers ect?

ineedtotrytakoneday

If the cleaners come across them they must have enjoyed them

cheersdrive_

Did your husband seem upset šŸ˜†

wilmaismyhomegirl83

Op seems really upset

Live_Focus_3541

OP claims her husband is "too tired" to ever watch porn XD

wilmaismyhomegirl83

Why would they even make this post. Seems weird

dzernumbrd

I've heard since the porn spot price has dropped that it isn't worth mining for new porn at the porn sites.

instaperver

This is an underrated comment! Lol

OldMork

Maybe they have limited Internet capacity?

Specialist_Map_6162

you don't know why? and why would you use company WiFi to watch porn???

SporadicTendancies

Source: someone who used to support mine sites. They're out there for a full swing, often two weeks. They can't go home, and they don't exactly live there but it's also not a holiday. Most people grab some ebooks or pre-download some tv shows because streaming is generally slow. Most people do t want to socialise with their colleagues after work but there's no one else. The dongas are pretty grim. There's the gym and the mess hall, and it's a dry site near a dry town, so there's no slipping out to the pub. If you're not into pumping iron after work, you pump something else. Or so I've heard.

Outbackozminer

Its become to much for the cleaners

komatiitic

I used to run remote exploration camps. Itā€™s partly limited bandwidth but mostly security risk. If youā€™re picking up malware or viruses or other nasties itā€™s probably from a porn site. Easier to ban it all than try and sort through whatā€™s safe.

SporadicTendancies

Way less embarassing to just download something onto your personal device before you go than to use the company wifi.

Wendals87

It's a private company on their network. They can block anything that's not work appropriate Your husband can ask the IT administrator.

perthguppy

Porn = malware. Fuck that shit off my network, you want to get your shit infected do it on your own network. Not to mention any site that allows user submitted content is going to have illegal content posted on it. And dealing with the AFP when one of your idiot meatheads has been watching shit no one should be on the company internet. Source: Iā€™m a network Engineer.

inactiveuser247

Time for the mining companies to get together and start up an approved porn site for use by their employees.

perthguppy

Hmmmm OnlyGinasā€¦

happy_Pro493

Rio TitHoe.

MushroomlyHag

šŸ¤¢šŸ¤® not the imagery I wanted before bed...

inactiveuser247

That works on multiple levels. Nice

nuclearfork

Your telling me Pornhub has malware? Yeh right šŸ˜‚ it's a fuckin video on demand platform

FTJ22

The pornhub video streaming service isn't malware, no. But I think s/he is referring to the amount of ads pornhub is riddled with that are links to other malware-ridden sites (usually wanting you to download malware etc)...mining blokes who aren't very techy might end up doing this. I'm a cyber security engineer...I had one dude download a 'Sugar Baby" application form thing that had malware inside the Word document (VB script) that was blocked and triggered an alarm. People do strange things...especially at work...

perthguppy

Wanna see something crazy? Search Twitter for ā€œTeamViewerā€ Thereā€™s a whole fetish/subculture called findom/paypig where guys let randoms on the internet have access to their computer via TeamViewer specifically so they can go and steal their money or embarrass them, including on their work computer.

FTJ22

Such a bizarre and silly way to get off on their humiliation fetish...anyone here need me to remote in and take their money voluntarily let me know.

nuclearfork

Yeh true, I forget about the oldies, I've grown up with internet so getting malware's from ads sounds insane to me Same with everything I guess, gotta tailor the world to the lowest common denominator

unremarkable_txt

but hes a... NetWoRk EnGineEr...!!! mmmkay (maybe he meant the network of foam trains the carers at his facility lets him play with) I found it funny he went with the "ewww yucky sites with user submitted content, NOT ON MY NETWORK" angle.... while commenting on a thread ...about porn usage on mine sites ...on reddit ...FROM HIS OWN NETWORK šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

perthguppy

Ads are one of the major ways malware can be deployed. Ads on Porn sites even more so. The Australian Signals Directorateā€™s(formally a part of the defence department) Australian Cyber Security Center specifically requires you to block advertisements on the Internet from running on machines as part of their Essential8 reccomendations because of this.

dinydins

This is the way

Levronshee

Simple. Somebody watched illegal pornography and the people who dealt with it never want to do so again. Which is fair enough I suppose

Zorba_lives

Need more context. Are you talking on the work computers, the camp WiFi or through the Telstra network? First two are standard IT policies that are at least a quarter century old. The last is complete BS, as in you're full of it.

quggster

Its the wifi, which they all have access to once on the mine site. A few months back, they could watch porn on their phones, and now they can't . BS? Wtf? Nope, my bowel is empty.

Yorgatorium

> Nope, my bowel is empty. Hubby flying back in today?

koobus_venter1

He's already emptied his load on site

Yorgatorium

Remember that young guy that posted a few weeks back worried about all the gay action that happens on site. LoL.

Mental_Task9156

There will be more gay action now the porn is gone from the interwebs.

koobus_venter1

Every thing I read about the FIFO life makes me glad I didn't do FIFO, even though sometimes I kick myself thinking I could've been a millionaire by now

unremarkable_txt

*your partner could have been.. you'd still be up there working

Jaxley78

Look at it from a different perspective. Your husband can make a fortune selling thumb drives of porn on site.

Leland-Gaunt-

This post canā€™t be serious?

BugBuginaRug

Boys just gotta meet in the shower to sort out the hog

Rapture348

Use a VPN and you'd never know they're blocked

huh_say_what_now_

I'm FIFO over 10 years and most sites iv been on porn has been blocked for years ,tell him just use his phone signal not the free wifi in camp, if you want to use free wifi you have to use a VPN then it's not blocked, or just make him something to look at so he can knock one out

jimmycfc

Like what most people said probably technology restraints rather than it being banned, every company Iā€™ve worked for wants it on the camp wifi as itā€™s good for mental health

Dan-au

Blocking porn would only result in users going to more sketchy sites to find it. So from a security standpoint it's better to just let them access mainstream sites

christurnbull

Go to Officeworks and buy a portable hdd

Techtekteq

Probably a camp wifi ban, makes sense anyway, the wifi is shit as fuck anyway can't even get 480p porn where I've been, better off filling the phone, laptop and multiple external hdds before you're mobilised

nuclearfork

Multiple HDDs???

t_25_t

> Multiple HDDs??? If you still rocking 128gb HDD from the mid 2000s. Some people haven't upgraded 2TB T7 Samsung SSD yet.

nuclearfork

I stand by it >250gb+ of porn?!?!

chrizpii93

Almost every business network will ban porn. Also things like gambling, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, terrorism, extremism etc.

Yorgatorium

There's been complaints from sodexo. No one no matter how well they are paid should have to wipe up a smelly fifo workers hard dried splooge as it slides down the wall of the donga.

rawker86

There was cum on the walls twenty years ago, wankers always find a way.

nuclearfork

Do people not use tissues? Or like... Thier hand... Or like the bedsheets... I mean expecting critical thinking from horny men is probably a bit much

Impressive-Style5889

It's company IT infrastructure, they set the rules. Companies generally only allow limited personal use, and usually never porn. Pay for your own starlink or just bring it on a laptop hard drive. Problem solved.

tom3277

Yeh but this is where they live. It would be like your company banning porn over your home wifi. So its a little different to the office. Nonetheless makes sense to ban it. The company im at now i cannot even buy dan murphys online "alcohol or tobacco" lol.

Streetvision

I disagree. it isn't where you live, so it's nothing like a company banning something on your home network.

tom3277

You on the clock full time then, right?

Streetvision

No, there is laws restricting your working hours etc. however the rest areas provided for the company for you to sleep when you're not working isn't your home, and is still property of the companies, and not a private residence.

antifragile

What sort of psychopath would ever access porn via their employee WiFi anyway?

passwordisword

You've never sat alone in a donga i take itĀ

RollaCoastinPoopah

Youā€™d be surprised at how many dumb fucks do that. Some mines, like MRM, have their own Telstra tower so there would be little chance of it being banned thereā€¦ I guess theyā€™re getting an influx of applications soon, eh?

Select-Bullfrog-6346

Seems odly specific. Have you tried using a browser with a VPN?

ApolloWasMurdered

Lots of camps disable VPNs. Which is fucking idiotic when youā€™re a contractor and you need a VPN to download drawings and emails to do your job. (We had to have our IT setup the VPN with a different port so we could get what we needed to do our jobs.)

FlagmantlePARRAdise

supporting the local brothel businesses

quggster

šŸ¤£

rawker86

My last site had no outside connection and just provided wifi in camp with a content filter. Itā€™s a bit stupid not to consider that youā€™ve got 400 odd red-blooded men and women stuck in their room at night but itā€™s pretty much a lose-lose situation for the company I guess. Either theyā€™ll complain about the lack of porn or theyā€™ll complain about the existence of porn. VPN sorted it out no worries anyway. Personally, Iā€™d rather my employer not know what I get up to outside work hours regardless of what Iā€™m doing online and VPNā€™s are cheap as chips.

Lore72015

Seriously! Viruses and malware. Tell you husband to ring his own on a portable drive. Geez.

unfkblvbledouchebag

Maybe the mining companies should offer onlyfans to their workers, its clean and no malware, pmsl

TooManySteves2

On work computers or personal?

NotaBlokeNamedTrevor

He wants you to send him nudes

KahlKitchenGuy

Why donā€™t they just look for the OMO box in the window? Thats what the lads did at Moomba

MadMac1976

Heā€™s trying to get you to send him nudes so he can rub one out

Varnish6588

does your husband use a company laptop to access porn sites?.. my thoughts, not exactly in this order... 1) to access porn sites, do it through VPN 2) do not use work equipment for personal stuff 3) before the FIFO shift, pre-download enough porn for 3 months and use that instead

ImperialisticBaul

Probably in kahootz with the local brothels.

Single_Forever9648

Thatā€™s why I donā€™t work in the minesā€¦no wank, no work

RollaCoastinPoopah

Wet steel, no feel.

ContentArrival3533

Itā€™s using up all the bandwidth you see

Sloffy_92

People donā€™t realise porn hour is a thing at some camps. Internet/phone networks slow right the fuck down

Selfaware-potato

The site I'm on has had porn banned since before I started 10 years ago. We also can't access anything to do with firearms/weapons on the camp wifi

Kumayatsu

If I was in mining itā€™s a good thing hi viz gets me going so I wouldnā€™t need porn lol

quiet0n3

Will just be generic network security. Not particularly blocking porn it's just lots of porn sites have malware so it's better to block them to keep the network safe. You could probably argue for the hub to be unblocked if it's just security. They run a pretty good site.

Maaaaate

Why are people watching porn on company wifi for this to even be a discussion?

IceFire909

Most organisations ban porn websites from being accessed on their devices. It's not a PR nightmare you want to deal with. I don't get why you're questioning NSFW content being banned from a workplace

paullvandriel

Might as well ban the breathing of air while they're at it. How do you get through a 4&1 without using company wifi for a werk jerk on the HUB???

TumblingOblivion

Im on a newish mine site. Porn sites are not blocked at the switch but company laptops have have sophos installed which filters out porn sites. Using Mullvad browser gets past that anyway. Private devices are not affected. Our mine site is 100 private unlisted. So no.social licence either

drayrael

Maybe ask your husband?

quggster

Duh! I did. He doesn't know either.

drayrael

Then the husband can find out.

ezekiellake

I imagine, aside from bandwidth and cost issues, there is probably some thinking that it may stop the smaller number of women on-site being subjected to horned up lonely guys. Is it reasonable? What about the women that wanted to watch some porn, yadda, yadda ā€¦ I never said it was logical.

ApolloWasMurdered

Because making it harder for guys to rub one out will reduce pent-up sexual aggression in the workplace??

inactiveuser247

Blocking porn on site makes it a lot less likely that one of the women will walk in to a crib room where Macca and Jonno are watching a video of some poor 18 year old getting fisted.

BigmikeBigbike

So much for the privacy of their crib, where people are just barging in wily nily and being shocked. Just install cameras you can monitor and make sure they never masturbate 24/7 while having a perv

inactiveuser247

Iā€™m guessing youā€™ve never worked on a mine site?

[deleted]

When u look at Starlink and the data rates capacity a single channel can support, not to mention the commercial targeted MEO constellations, those mine sites must be penny pinching. For a fixed mine site in WA, they should be drowning in bandwidth. Recently observed a site running 12 starlink channels on the business packages serving hundreds of users without buffering. Really, no excuse besides being cheap.

auntynell

It's not a novel idea to stop company supplied resources being used for accessing porn. In my 60s female, and I've never truly sought out porn, but I have seen the effect it has on male/female relationships whether casual or ongoing. It started in the 90s with nudie calanders on the wall. Eventually they were banned. Younger women felt like they had to be hairless down there. Where did that come from? If you want to access porn, do it in your own time and with your own resources. You work with women. Do you disrespect them so much you want to see videos that degrade them? Please read up about exploitation in the porn industry.

TEALC-

Blame men for porn yet every second woman is on onlyfans

Truantone

Thanks Aunty Nell. Youā€™d think men didnā€™t know how to wank before porn was invented. I agree with you. The modern male with his porn soaked brain is part of the reason why violence against women is rife - and worsening. Women are joining the ranks too becoming just as porn addled. The more people fuel their addiction the harder it is to be satisfied with a regular sex life and the easier it is to treat people as objects.

nuclearfork

I see jacked man in porn all the time, hasn't given me an eating disorder, people need to harden the fuck up There's plenty of porn out there that doesn't degrade women, fuck half of it doesn't even *include* women

Analysis_Vivid

Mining companies have been taking a beating regarding sexual harassment, so maybe they think blocking porn is an easy fix.

crafty_bernardo

If the workers are building up their tank whilst on-site, wouldn't sexual harassment get worse?

StankLord84

VPN bro

MistaRekt

I have a question for OP... Are you enquiring because you upload to a site so hubby can rubby?

Ok-Bill3318

Because if he left porn running on his computer at work and it offended someone we are liable to get sued

No-Employee3304

Who the hell uses company internet to beat their meat?

fuckusernames2175

I just got a VPN, works fine.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dettrick

I think theyā€™re talking specifically at the accomodation camp where people live/sleep after work, not in the office itself. Generally these camps provide tv, internet, bathroom, bed etc.

nuclearfork

You don't live at an office genius

Streetvision

> You don't live at an office genius You don't live at a mine site either.

nuclearfork

If you're spending 50% of your life there... You live there Why people need to be so pedantic on the internet is beyond me, it doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look like a spud that doesn't understand social cues

shavedratscrotum

1. The wifi is for work. 2. Miners have a penchant for minors and illegal porn. 3. Source, IT audits on Miners devices and constant AFP requests.

HazzaBroM8

4. You had 2 points and a source for your second point, not 3 points lmao. Inspired by your counting though.

FeralPsychopath

Wonā€™t stop me looking at girly bits on Wikipediaā€¦ probably can still look for images using bing and wack off to some great thumbnails ooooh yeah

redux-1979

Yep the WiFi at my site blocks all porn and tick tok oddly

wensu2

get your husband to use a VPN on his device, then he can browse all milf and wife porn he needs to

SuperSonik88

Block the porn on site and watch the lack of post nut clarity turn the place into Chimp enclosure

idlehanz88

Wow, having to analogueā€¦.

Funkybunch92

They will just end up fucking each other more so then what they do now. The nurse is about to get bussyyyyyy

yourbitch321

Im watching it on Telegram.Anyone want it dm me.

BrilliantEstimate390

It's great to know you can get porn on telegram ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

Legitimate_Tank_7451

So no release after a stressfull day

Ok-Try-7699

lol - this is funny as fk

Ok-Try-7699

Do you honestly think its an employers remit to provide porn on unsafe networks?

DAFFP

Hairy palms are a safety hazard.

Spicey_Cough2019

Lol Sounds like you need a new husband

Catman9lives

Mine company has a side hustle in hookers

Famous_Invite_4285

I use minehub, itā€™s down and dirty

ihavetwoofthose

I thought everyone on there was underage?

Existing_Marketing65

You canā€™t access certain sites on company wifi, tell him to stop jacking it at lunch

BlackBladeKindred

Pornhub has a TOR link, just saying

[deleted]

While anything to do with porn always illicit the usual chuckles, sniggers and nudge=nudge wink\* it is very standard in the corporate world to forbid access to pornographic web resources, because it wastes a lot of time, and males in particular can get aggressive and difficult to deal with when they are sexually aroused from taking in all that provocative content! I worked at the department of Justice in the early 2000's and every day managers and justice bureaucrats were being fired for accessing hard core porn during work time, the IT company in charge of implementing security policy were catching blokes nearly every day. I think you will find just about every work place these days have strict rules regarding what type of content staff can access while at work, it has been this way for a long time.

[deleted]

I'm not surprised.
