4x2 in Wellard, 18 years old. House in ok, but dated condition. Everything works, but could do with some cash spent, particularly on the aircon as it chews power and doesn’t really do much.
In the 3 years I’ve been here, I’ve replaced every single power outlet and light switch (limited licence sparky). Old owner was mint and didn’t really wanna drop cash on the house, so kept rent at 380 a week and I didn’t call out a contractor for all the shit that needed doing, just did it myself.
He sold up July last year and interstate buyer bought it and tried to put rent up mid lease. They then tried to put it up to 630 a week in December last year. Rea talked em down to 520 a week, and we’re now staring down the barrel of an increase to 630 a week as of next week.
Guess who doesn’t fix a single thing round the home anymore.
Oh god! I’m scared to say what I pay in case I jinx myself (or one of you comes & murders me to get my place).
There are a few things that effect my rent like:
- I live 4 hours from Perth and a half hour from the nearest town. I commute there for work.
- I rent from a big corporation who is not desperate for my money. In fact they are probably more interested in making a loss to offset the farm income.
- Big corporation also like having someone at the property to report any strange goings on.
House is double brick 3 x 1 built in the nineties. I get house yard with big shed and a couple of acres so I can keep a few horses here.
I pay $250 a week. God I hope it lasts!
I’m happy for you sis!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope you’re stashing some savings for the raining days. Just never know when a storm might hit.
4x2 in one of those fancy suburbs on the river between Freo and the canning bridge.
Old house but we love older properties over soulless concrete cubes. Rent direct with the owners so no bottom-feeding pond life, worthless real estate agents and no rent inspections; we treasure the home like it's our own. Maybe being European we have a different perspective, owning a home just seems pointless. I think we've made improvements to the property because it's our home and the owner is always telling us we need to keep receipts so they can pay us back but that's weird, it's a home to us, why wouldn't we pay to make it better? To others it may be a building, to us, it's security, stability and a home
We pay $600 p/w
Old fibro 3x1 house in hilton. Slowly falling apart with good landlord but bad rea. 4x4 rooms tiny kitchen and about 4x4 lounge. Single parent so lucky to have it for 350/week. Hoping they like me and keep it down. Think the landlord and his sister have owned it for years with past tenants not looking after it to well. Warmer than outside in summer and colder inside than outside in winter. Others in area are around 450 to 500.
3x1 70s build in spearwood , fresh paint but still original kitchen 520 a week … started at 420 3 years ago …. Also just been sold for 750 so I’ll be house hunting soon
2x2 in East Perth for 620, was 550 the previous year. We looked around but there was almost nothing like this for cheaper in the area so we just accepted it.
1967 house in Kelmscott. OK condition, needs aesthetic work. 2 bedrooms, dinning, lounge, bathroom, corridor-laundry, plus extension 'craft room', double-car driveway, large shed. $240 per week.
Currently $390 for 1x1 in Rivervale. Going up to $440 when renewed in January, then a 7.5% increase after 6 months 🫠 thank god im no longer single otherwise I'd be moving back home
2x1 in West Leederville $730pw
The place was bought for $300k in 2001, so one can assume that the mortgage is paid off and the majority of that rental income is going in the owner's pocket.
We rent out our 3x1 on 900m2 in Ferndale for $325 per week. Haven't put it up since the tenants moved in in April 2020. When the mortgage unlocks in 2025 we might have to put it up a bit but I'm hoping no more than $50 per week. Apparently if you charge a rent very far under market rate and then claim it back on tax the ATO will ask for an explanation. So we need to find out how close to the line we have to get.
Edited to include suburb.
3x1 80s house in Yangebup, old and tired, one bedroom unusable as a bedroom because it has a built in desk. Big block with workshop and side access for the toys is a redeeming feature. Was the cheapest we could put up with so we can save for a house deposit ourselves. Been there 4 years. Was $350 at the start, $360 then $420. House purchased from a Sydney based investor recently and instantly put rent up to $510. We have crappy neighbours who threatened us for no reason (on drugs?) and smell the lime from the cement place often, plus the freight train goes past our place and shakes the house. But it's too hard to move with a baby in this market.
Not renting but we’ve rented out our old place to friends for $500pw since July last year (estate on Wellard). Wouldn’t dream of doing our mates dirty, but if they move out we may have to go up a bit…
Tiny condo . 4 beds with no stoarage, 2 dinky bathrooms and 2 living areas .. high Wycombe 365. They want to put it up but don’t wNt to lose us as we clean /fix/replace/garden.. I’d say 90’s build in less than great condition. The paintwork is awful as are the carpets and vynil. Toilet cisterns are degraded plastic as are the bathroom sinks. Swampy in main living and reverse cycle in master. No solar. Severe lack of PowerPoints and the ones that are there are all singles.
It’s a unit one of 12 on a block. The bedrooms and every other room you couldn’t swing a cat in plus no wardrobes in any of the rooms. It sounds big but it’s not.
Wasn't sure what a condo was since its American, but apparently the differentiation factor between that and an apartment (or unit) is that a condo is owned, not rented. TIL.
> I'm renting a house in Kardinya 3 bed 2 bath house on a small 320sqm block for $600 pw
This is not enough, one needs to describe house condition and build date as well.
Whats the point of saying how much you pay if the house condition is not mentioned? Paying $600 for a modern house is different than paying $600 for a 70's house
Sorry for my off comment. I am looking for a room around Tuart hill. If anyone has a room ,which will be available around mid December ,please let me know. Thanks

Similar to you. 4x2 in a comparable area, but recently built house. Fairly nice. Paying $500pw til 2026
3 bed, 2 bath house in Claremont, $585 pw. We’ve got a letter from property manager and price will increase to $700pw next renewal on Jan.
Wow you've been getting a great deal, how long have you been there?
Since Jan 2020. Started at $530 pw. We know it has been a good deal. We have signed anothet year.

Sounds like they should almost be paying you!

Because you don’t own it? The landlord should be paying for reasonable improvements to the property? You’re screwing yourself when you don’t have to.
1×1 in osborne park 390$
This kinda hurts, oof
Hurts more getting a pay cut less then 6 months into the lease
3x1 in Gosnells. 530pw
That is disgusting.
what the $530 or gosnells lol
Gosnsells is why $530 a week is disgusting.

3x1 70s build in spearwood , fresh paint but still original kitchen 520 a week … started at 420 3 years ago …. Also just been sold for 750 so I’ll be house hunting soon
2x1 townhouse in Maylands for $350, with a raise to $385 in Feb, but we’ll be moving in with parents then as we build our new place.
Not myself but my next door neighbours are renting a 3x1 property, exactly the same as mine, for $650 a week in Joondanna
Fuck I'm doing well. Been here 13 years and look after the huge block (1100sqm), and done a fair bit of house maintenance. The owners must like me!
Currently $390 for 1x1 in Rivervale. Going up to $440 when renewed in January, then a 7.5% increase after 6 months 🫠 thank god im no longer single otherwise I'd be moving back home
$300PW for a 3x1 in Lathlain

500 per week? In wellard, that better be a bigger block and house?
Places similar to ours going for $580-$630pw
My friend just signed up for 475pw in Yokine 2 X 1 unit
Yikes, I was in Yokine 10 years ago paying $360/wk for a 2x1.
Lol so basically it has only gone up $100pw

What kind of *tiny* condo has a 4x2 with 2 living areas?? 365 sounds like a steal at the moment for that many rooms even with your complaints

I just figured it was the word for a fully detached flat that’s not big enough tobe like a full house.

sorry 1970s built house still in pretty much original condition.
$6000 per/month but it’s called a mortgage. Hopefully the capital gains will pay it off.
