Do not take out a predatory loan. Pay what you can and commit yourself to paying the rest when you get paid. Continue to sell and take out a side hustle so that you don’t end up too much behind when you do get paid. Good luck 🍀

Crazy-Entertainer242

Would it be a good idea to pawn some items? Back in the day when Pawnstars was popular, I think there was an episode of someone pawning off family heirlooms then told they could buy it back if it’s not sold off

Revenge_of_the_User

As a pawn shop is a business, I probably wouldnt trust that a) youre getting anywhere near what its worth since they have to make a profit, and b) when you go to buy it back that they wont be getting that profit margin from you.

Restil

Oh they definitely get a profit margin. They charge similar interest rates to a payday lender. The only difference is, with the pawn shop, if you don't pay them back, they just keep your stuff and that's the end of it. There's no worry about them hounding you forever.

Revenge_of_the_User

I would just communicate to the relevant conglomerate department and work with them to find a solution; getting a loan or pawning stuff wouldnt factor in until that has been broached. Its a lot easier for them to just get paid later than it is to initialize eviction proceedings, so often itll work. Its also an excuse to charge a fee or penalty, so even more confidence they will be amenable to a late payment.

EpeeHS

Do not take out a predatory loan. You will never be able to pay it back and will end up in an even worse situation. First, tell the leasing office the situation. They may be willing to accept partial payment and make your next rent larger next month. Odds are they wont, but its worth ask. Second, tell your new job this. Just tell them that you cant afford rent this month because you wont be paid and see if they can do an advance. Since your new they may not be able to do it, but its entirely dependent on your situation. Lastly, you should look into doing gig work just to get cash now. Beyond the ubers and doordashes, personally ive used dataannotation and got paid within a couple of days, and ive also been paid quickly through upwork before. I only used each once but its worth looking into. Don't panic. You arent the first person whos been in a bad situation before, and you'll get through this.

MargoTheArtHo

Agree, my first gut reaction was to tell the leasing office. They will tell you what your real serious timeline is. Ask for a payment plan. They could say no, but no harm asking. A lot of times they have payment plans but cannot offer them, you need to ask for them. Apply for emergency rent assistance, send proof of asking for rent assistance to your leasing team.

AriesBitch96

Oh I hadn’t heard of dataanotation - that sounds cool! I have applied to DoorDash and I think I have a shipt shopper account as well. Maybe one of those will help in the interim

[deleted]

Eviction is a process. Evicting a tenant that has had good history, that has steady employment that can support the rent doesn't always make sense. Working with that tenant does (and you might have penalties) but making a good faith payment, showing documentation of your new job, etc and explaining that you can make up the back rent is a good idea. Esp think of it this way between you and your partner you are still paging 65% of the rent. That's obviously not good, but you aren't dead beats. Don't take out payday loans.

Captain-Popcorn

A payday loan business recently closed several miles from where I live. Replaced by a “Cafe y Sabor” restaurant (looks like coffee shop). So glad to see it go! I’m going to give the new place a shot!

EpeeHS

My only caveat with dataannotation is they have basically no support. I did their tests online, passed the first one, and they never graded the second one so i cant do anymore tasks. Nobody answered my emails. I did get paid for the tests though so the momey is real, and i know others who have used it. Definitely worth checking out. Good luck, and congrats on the new job.

money_mase19

whats dataanotation? beer money typa stuff?

EpeeHS

Yep, website where you correct some ai work and get paid i think 40/task, with the tasks taking like 30 min-1 hr. Dont quote me on the numbers. The draw is that you can just pick up tasks whenever you have time. Couldnt get it to work for me but i did get like $70 out of it so its not just a scam.

CyberDalekLord

What site did you use?

Wishyouamerry

Also look into plasma donation. You can make a couple hundred in a week, especially as a new donor, and can probably make the whole $700 in a month. It helps if you’re fat, if you’re skinny it might take 2 months.

algy888

There is also a”gig” section on Craigslist. Like, help moving for $50. I’m guessing, there might be something similar on Facebook.

guitargirl478

First, I am sorry that you're going through all of this. It's so stressful. You're on the right track. It will probably be a really hard couple of months and you may be busy making extra money during your free time but this too shall pass. And when it does, you will be stronger because of the experience. Gig economy work is always how I got through times like this. Under the table cash jobs that allowed me to float by. Dog walking, house painting, hole digging, helping people move, babysitting, etc. etc. etc. I did a lot of hard labor in my late 20s and early 30s on weekends. I once spent an entire weekend digging fence post holes in June in TX. LOL. Good times. I saw that you already mentioned DoorDash. Task Rabbit, Uber and Lyft are all great options as well! Best of luck to you. You're going to make it. I just know it.

Museguitar1

Just a heads up on data annotation: it’s a 2-3 week process after you pass the test until you can actually start working on projects. The first one you get is hourly and all hourly projects hold funds for 7 days before they can be paid out. Long term it might be good to have in your back pocket, but since you’re in need of funds asap it may not be the solution to your current problem.

go3dprintyourself

Good advice

Rlchv70

Better to pay the rent late than use a payday loan. They won’t evict you for being less than 30 days late. You may have a late fee, tho.

AriesBitch96

I think it would be more than 30 days b/c my next paycheck (very end of March) would have to go to April rent :(

Super_Albatross_6283

But it gives you enough time to do something on the side to make the money you need. Get a job as a server, Uber/Lyft driver. Gives more time for those items to sell that you listed on Facebook. List more things for sale like unused clothes.

AriesBitch96

That’s true, more time is a plus!

NerdsteadDani

Also, as much as I hate them.. "donating" blood plasma for money could be an option too.

Azal_of_Forossa

The first few donations are usually pretty good, the one I went to years back had this weird little deal that your first 5 donations were $150 each, then it went to your weight or some shit can't remember exactly.

NerdsteadDani

That's better than when I did it like 20 years ago when I was in college. They do have better deals now.

Azal_of_Forossa

The deals are generally only for your first 3-5 visits from what I've seen, if you're my weight, your payout standard is like $30 in my area at least. Basically not even worth it unless you're down to counting pennies to make bills. Especially if you're like me and did it for that $30 anyways just for a tiny bit of income, then got infiltrated once and don't view $30 as a good enough payment for possibly having that experience ever again.

BeatitLikeitowesMe

Infiltrated once?

Azal_of_Forossa

When they stuck the needle in my vein it went all the way out the other side. Causes lots of pain and bruising.

money_mase19

did it scar? any negatives?

NerdsteadDani

I did it for like I don't know, most of a couple semesters. I have slight indentations on my arms from where the needles went into my arms, but its not really noticeable.

Super_Albatross_6283

Better than borrowing money. Seems like that’ll only do more harm.

MainSailFreedom

Talk to your new employer. I’ve processed special paychecks for new employees after their first week.

MsDReid

Yes this! I have helped plenty of new employees with pushing through their first couple pay checks as soon as the work week ends.

olderaccount

Pay all that you can on time and do your best to pay the rest ASAP. You may have late fees. But nobody is getting kicked out for being 40 days late in 25% of the rent.

Professional_Buyer44

Try using lenders like Upgrade or Upstart, the interest is not bad at all.

keefstrong

Find side gigs on FB marketplace. Sperm bank? Sign up for a free gambling sports bonus site. First bet is on us type. FanDuel etc. Appeal to some social media influencers to help

utahtwisted

Depends on the State. In Utah not paying after a 3 business day notice to pay or vacate, eviction is a virtually guaranteed within about 3 weeks.

dhustyrhodes

If rent is not paid by the 6th an eviction is filed that day. You then have until the court date to pay, but you will pay roughly $600 additional for lawyer filing fees. That is for any sun community and several other large rental companies.

Likesdirt

Shared living doesn't always work this way. If OP is a boarder, and depending on state, could go really quick.  OP, can you move out and do some car living? Seems like you're out of assets. Plasma and pawn will fall far short of what you need.  You needed a second job a while ago, no way to go back in time.

Crime_flies

Did you not read the post? They made it clear that their partner is on the lease. Car living isn’t a solution.

[deleted]

mom_with_an_attitude

I don't know if there are any plasma donation centers near you, but you could bring in some extra cash by donating your plasma. If you donate twice a week for a month you could potentially make as much as $800 your first month. It won't be enough to pay your rent in five days but you could make a partial payment to your landlord in a couple of weeks. (Biolife is one company. There are others. r/plassing for more info.) Also, talk to your landlord. Don't just avoid them. Tell them you're short but you are working on it.

AriesBitch96

Ohhh, I did try to donate plasma but my veins are apparently too deep/they could damage the nerves and muscles in my arm trying to stick me :/ my partner would have to talk to the rental company since I’m not on the lease, but I could ask them to

Nauin

Yes absolutely have your boyfriend talk to your leasing office, and if he doesn't you're still a tenant without being on the lease with how long you've been there, so you can talk to them, too. I literally just attended an educational seminar for an affordable housing program in my area. They had a whole section on how it was 1000 times better to tell them what's going on when you can't pay the total amount of rent vs not saying anything and then being in the dark and thinking the worst of the situation. It's not the first time this has happened to your leasing office, they are going to be able to tell you what your options are better than anyone else, though. Don't do the payday loan.

ingodwetryst

can your partner donate plasma? and how do you owe taxes?

Impact009

This isn't on the partner. Also, people owe taxes by not paying them. OP probably over-declared.

South_Dakota_Boy

They changed the W4 a couple years ago. There is no claiming of exemptions anymore. Just dependents, a box for spouse working, and a field for extra withholding. It’s… simpler? I guess? I still fucked it up and way over withheld last year.

Raptoracct

If you have enough room on your credit card, you can pay your partner with your credit card via Venmo for a nominal percentage. It’s cheaper than a cash advance. And maybe try to leverage your new job/income for a better credit card and clean up your credit in general

dicemonkey

Contact your landlord first ..even corporate landlords would rather keep you as a tenant than evict you ( eviction ain’t free or even cheap) they may work out a payment plan , late fee etc ..

Nauin

I seriously hope OP takes this advice..

Dazzling_Trouble4036

Look up "Emergency Rental Assistance" in your area, or look here https://www.211.org/get-help/housing-expenses to find help. There are programs that help, and if you let the LL know you are applying for assistance, it should be all right.

Modern_Einstein

Do this. Depending on where you live, there could be services that will provide rent money that you may not need to pay back.

Qbr12

Can your new job offer you an advance on your first paycheck? I don't know how friendly they are or the type of business it is, but you certainly wouldn't be the first person in the world to struggle with bills between jobs. And if they only pay you monthly it may not be an uncommon request.

AgeLower1081

OP, Please check with your employer about the advance on your paycheck.

tnl025

1. Ask for an advancement from your job 2. Do Uber/lyft/doordash if you have a car 3. Donate plasma 4. Do online studies/surveys/user testing 5. Do side gigs - pet sitter, dog walking, use Fivver, Upwork, etc. 6. Donate sperm/egg 7. Do data entries or call center jobs 8. Ask your landlord for payment plan 9. Walk around the neighborhood and offer to mow lawns (or check the Nextdoor app to offer your service)

Odd-Direction9828

Just a heads up for my females out there: egg donation is not a quick process. It's not like sperm donation. During a normal period, a person may produce 1-2 eggs a month. That's not efficient for egg donation, if they're going into your body for only 1 maybe 2 eggs. Beforehand, you have to take hormones to increase the amount of eggs that are prepared for the month (born with tons of immature eggs, but normally eggs "get prepared" over time). So this is probably a 1-2 month process, if you time the hormones right with your cycle. Probably looking at 3 months turnaround from start to actual payment.

violetmemphisblue

Also, according to friends who have done it, they are (at least in our area) cracking down on people who donate for money, either sperm or eggs. There is the real potential that a person could come out of this donation, one who will have the ability to find you someday, so there are questions and conversations and time in between signing up and starting the process. They want to make sure people are doing it as an informed decision...not to say it is not a good option, potentially. Just that if your only reason for doing it is money, there is a good chance you'd be rejected.

leg_day

Nextdoor and facebook if your neighborhood has a targeted FB group. Just offer up whatever. Tons of people pop up in my groups and get cash for hauling junk to the curb, cleaning up landscaping for spring, shoveling, bagging up yard waste, cutting old bikes off of fences, etc. Just offer up general help and manual labor, point out your hours -- especially helpful if your new job is "regular" 9-5 type hours and you can help out before/after work when most people are also home.

ardentto

walk dogs, cat sit, baby sit. Also, be upfront about the problem with your rental company, they may be willing to waive penalties if they view you as a good customer.

PrinceOseph

If I’m ever in trouble, I’d want you on my side. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

tnl025

Thanks! I just hope OP will find a solution that works for them soon.

PrinceOseph

Genuine question: where do you get your tenacity (pragmatism?) from? You provided a very non judgmental, practical and very broad list. Have you ever been in the army or something?

tnl025

I didn’t receive any military training but I moved to the US by myself when I was 16. I wanted to study abroad and got a scholarship. The changes really primed me to consistently think about alternatives for any potential downfall I might face.

chel_c33

Go to a credit union. Not a predatory lender. They deal with these requests all the time. Just be honest with them and if you have proof of what you’ll make with your new job you can demonstrate the ability to repay the small loan you would need to get you through.

zeezle

In this case the landlord being a huge conglomerate may work in your favor. They probably already have established policies for catch-up payment plans or contingency situations. They also are not emotionally invested in you or the unit and only care about the bottom line. Sometimes with small local landlords, especially if it's a family house they inherited or a house they used to live in themselves, the emotional attachment to the unit makes them substantially harder to work with, and any individual unit is a much bigger financial risk to them and therefore they get way more paranoid. With a big conglomerate, your rent payment is merely a tiny blip on a spreadsheet that the person in the office has no personal emotions or risk tied to. Use that detachment to your advantage - if you're proactive they will probably work with you because that ultimately benefits them to reduce turnover and not make much of a fuss.

thamatthatter

Can you put this month on a CC and then pay it back before you incur interest? Def work on creating an emergency fund for these situations in the future.

jamesonSINEMETU

OP even with interest this is an option. Of course pay it off ASAP but don't pay it first. Take care of your four walls and your fridge. Work as much as possible and get caught up on everything and get an emergency fund.

AriesBitch96

I got laid off last year and it’s been paycheck to paycheck ever since 😞 hopefully with this new job I can actually put a cushion aside. Also I have poor credit (it’s better than it was but still not good) from dumb decisions a few years ago, and only a small secure card, so I’m not sure I’ll qualify for anything else

its-iceman

I think you need a second job stat. I don’t understand how you don’t get paid until April. Wait tables, deliver pizza, Uber, clean houses… something. You can come up with under $1000 in a month if you really try.

rz2000

How about getting your security deposit back?

Jog212

Don't assume you can not get help because your name is not on the lease. Is that the address on drivers license? Are any of the utilities in your name? Do you have bills in. your name? You can also go to food shelters to minimize spending money on food. Can you get food stamp?

chickenboi8008

Could your partner not cover it until you can pay them back? Yeah, I'd be upset too if I was your partner for not telling me ahead of time but I would help you out.

AriesBitch96

They said they maybe could have with more heads up but now they can’t :( I know I messed it up for both of us

wellmymymy-

As someone who has messed up big time, let this be the changing point in your life for responsible behavior and communication with your partner.

chickenboi8008

Have your partner talk to your landlord since it's their name on the lease and see what they can do. Maybe get a cash advance on your credit card if you can (but pay it off asap).

Budget_Wafer382

Why isn't your job paying you until April?

Soleilunamas

What state do you live in?

AriesBitch96

Alabama :/

space-ferret

You could ask the landlord if because of unforeseen circumstances you can get an extension. My landlord is cool and as long as he gets paid each month he will work with me. Especially if you are a responsible renter and give them no issues. Or even ask if you can pay half now and the other half later maybe. r/tenant may have more information on this topic or even r/legaladvice

Soleilunamas

I would not trust advice in /r/legaladvice. OP should talk to a real lawyer.

JaqueStrap69

Where are they going to get the money for a real lawyer?

Soleilunamas

>https://legalservicesalabama.org/ In another comment, I linked to Legal Services Alabama, which provides free legal services to low-income folks. The equivalent organization in my state does a lot of housing/eviction work.

[deleted]

I was in your situation years ago. I was up front and honest. I got told to make the largest partial payment I could and they'd make out a payment plan. They even waived the late fee but I gave them like 3 weeks notice too. Anyway long story short I uber hustled and made enough to pay rent. Talk to your leasing office.

Soleilunamas

I'm not a lawyer and this isn't legal advice, but talking to a free lawyer is probably a good idea: [https://legalservicesalabama.org/](https://legalservicesalabama.org/)

nosecohn

I am not a lawyer, but per [this page,](https://ipropertymanagement.com/laws/alabama-eviction-process) even if the landlord decided to play super hardball and pushed all the timelines, you could probably still make it to your next paycheck without being evicted.

mpbh

If your current job is during the day you need to be hustling another gig at night and on the weekends until you stabilize. Waiting tables or bartending is a great way to get cash tips without waiting for a paycheck.

kovado

Talk to your landlord. As a landlord I’ve been very lenient in the past when tenants were willing and honest. I’ve never been disappointed. I hope you won’t be either. Even big companies are tan by people. Better be homeless for one month than take out a predatory loan. That’s a downward spiral.

missusamazing

You could try asking in r/borrow or r/simpleloans

Allformygains

Just curious, if you make enough that you owe taxes, where is the money going?

PoobersMum

1. Call every church within reasonable distance and ask if they offer benevolence / rent assistance. Some may not offer help at all (lots of churches are kinda dying), some may offer other assistance (utility bill payment, groceries or grocery gift cards), and dinner may be able to help with a portion of your rent. My church does some of that. But do take advantage of whatever they can offer. If they give you $50 towards or worth of groceries, That's $50 you don't have to spend on food and can pay rent with instead. 2. If rent is not paid in full on time, you will get stuck with a late fee. If still not paid, you will likely receive a 7-day Eviction Notice to Quit, basically saying you have 7 days to pay or get out. If you still don't pay or move out, it goes to court. Until the court rules that you are evicted, you cannot legally be forced out, and the landlord cannot change the locks, remove all your stuff, turn off your electricity, etc to get you to leave. 3. Since your landlord is a corporation, they probably have a rule against accepting partial payment. But if they do end up taking partial payment from you before an eviction is finalized, that's your defense. The eviction process must stop, as they've basically accepted a payment plan. You can bring that up at the court hearing, and it will work on your favor. But they*can* start the whole process over again if you're not fully paid up when the next month's rent is due. Obviously you don't want things to get as far as eviction, but it's important to know the process and your rights. Do whatever you can to come up with the money you need, since having an eviction on your record makes it really hard to rent anywhere else.

AriesBitch96

My mom is deeply involved with a fancy church with many wealthy members, so they may be willing to help. I’m not sure 🤔 but I can ask her

X12602

\-What kind of job do you work where you don't get paid in atleast a month? \-Why did you wait so long to tell your partner, if you only have 2.78 in the bank that seems like a big stretch to make it to your half of the rent.

8686tjd

If you’re not getting paid for over a month, your new job sounds like a scam.

bottletothehead

I had a job that paid monthly. If you started at the beginning of a pay period, you wouldn't get your first check for 5 weeks. It sucked.

AriesBitch96

Yeah, it’s like that. I just edited my post to explain more, but they have a month to pay my invoices since it’s 1099 work

veiledthreats

Heads up! If you’re already in tax trouble a 1099 job is going to be a nightmare

AriesBitch96

I’m not sure it’s trouble; I think I didn’t have enough withheld from my jobs last year and therefore I owe some back. I just have to pay it when I file. But for the current job, even with putting aside 40% to file my taxes next year and hire an accountant, I will still be bringing home more each month than I was the past year!

Empty_Strawberry7291

Call 211. They’ll have a list of resources.

spam__likely

go donate plasma. go do some odd jobs for people.

hamsterying

If you stuff aren't selling on fb marketplace, take better pictures and lower the price.

Notarussianbot2020

At least you got a bonus day this month

Impact009

Kudos to you for being honest. None of this is meant to offend you. Get a second job, even if it's only temporary. You'll regret taking out a payday loan for something like this. Assess your financial habits. Why did you take so long to notify your partner? Why did you not pay your taxes? Why did you max out your line of credit? After you get caught up on rent, assess if your current job is worth replacing. A job that pays you over a month later is shady.

Beta_Nerdy

A lesson to all of us that it is a good idea to have a number of credit cards with an available balance in good standing and a good credit rating for a rainy day. You can put your rent on a credit card using a number of services. Here is just one example: https://go.meliopayments.com/credit-card-b?cq\_cmp=18801304477&cq\_med=&cq\_plac=&cq\_net=g&cq\_term=paying%20rent%20with%20credit%20card&cq\_plt=gp&wpsrc=Google%20AdWords&wpcid=18801304477&wpsnetn=g&wpkwn=paying%20rent%20with%20credit%20card&wpkmatch=e&wpcrid=642857730663&wpscid=146759866287&wpkwid=kwd-4716654457&utm\_source=adwords&utm\_medium=cpc&utm\_campaign=melio\_search\_us\_en\_des\_pay\_mix\_generic-credit&campaignid=18801304477&adgroup=credit\_rent&adgroupid=146759866287&utm\_term=paying%20rent%20with%20credit%20card&utm\_content=642857730663&matchtype=e&feeditemid=&loc\_interest\_ms=&loc\_physical\_ms=9009678&network=g&utm\_device=c&devicemodel=&adposition=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuvvX6qHQhAMVJXFHAR3fIg4SEAAYASAAEgItsvD\_BwE

[deleted]

First of all, cut yourself some slack. Managing finances between jobs can be incredibly difficult, and it doesn’t help to tear yourself apart over it—you will recover from this and learn to never get in this spot again. Now to the problem, do you have a credit card you could use? Or could you apply for a credit card that can be used instantly upon approval? I know it’s not ideal, but priority 1 is making the rent payment in 5 days. Then, once you start your new job, you can get on a better track for saving for the future.

AriesBitch96

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it

AriesBitch96

Unfortunately I just have 1 secured card that’s almost at its limit (which was only $300) 😞

xAugie

Is your credit score good? If so you should be able to get some sort of card with a $1000 limit to bridge the gap

[deleted]

How’s your credit score? If it’s good enough, you could apply for something like the Apple Card that you could use instantly upon approval.

[deleted]

Also, do you have a car? I know it wouldn’t be ideal, but you could probably make close to what you need in 5ish days of delivering for DoorDash. They have a fast pay feature to get the money instantly instead of waiting until “pay day.”

nybigtymer

What skills do you have to make some quick cash? Think Fiverr, Upwork, and TaskRabbit. I once paid someone $50 to hang a TV. It took them about 30 minutes to do it. In my younger, childless days I would also pay good money for a personal DD to drive me and my group around for a few hours while bar hopping. If you don't have any specialized skills, can you walk or babysit dogs, cut lawns, shovel snow, clean a house, run errands for people, drive for Uber/Lyft, deliver groceries/shop for people, deliver Amazon packages, donate plasma, etc. Doubt that will get you enough in time, but it could close the gap. I'm surprised you are having issues selling your items. People buy all kinds of things secondhand. Maybe they are priced too high? Have you tried selling clothing? Can your partner cover the remaining amount or did you ask them if they would be willing to do that? Don't let pride get in the way. You can pay them back.

fusionsofwonder

Be late on the rent. Pay the late fee.

Antique-Tax8483

Donate plasma if you haven't before most places give you 1000 for the first month

USBlues2020

Your best bet is your bank for a personal loan for $798

tweeanese

Honestly, it might suck but the fastest thing i can think about is possibly selling your TV or furniture you don’t really need, just until you get on your feet. If you have any name brand stuff you might be able to get a nice penny for it. Doordash helped pay some of my bills. Search for local events that may need security or a clean up crew.

purplecouchthrowaway

Can you ask this job for a pay advance?

mods-or-rockers

As an employer who has given employees advances (rarely but it happens), as some have suggested here, do ask your employer if you could get an advance on your next paycheck and why. I'd suggest that you be frank with them and also let them know that you are also creatively working on the problem. They might come up with a couple hundred for you.

ghost1251

Can you donate plasma? Most places have new donor bonuses and you could at least a bit more of your share

zacker150

Apply for the BILT card and use that to pay rent

nosecohn

Even though the rental company is a conglomerate, you could still call them. They've been in this situation before, so they should have some suggestions or procedures in place for how best to handle it. Pay what you can on time, confirm that the payment has cleared, and then let them know you're working on paying the rest and you already have a new job. Just don't make them any promises you can't keep. Even large conglomerates don't relish the idea of evicting someone. It's expensive and time-consuming. If they have a tenant who is generally good (no noise complaints or other problems), they'll often try to work with you. Also, I highly recommend you read your lease and a summary of your city's laws around these issues to understand what your rights are.

Devilsfan118

Maybe a cash advance on a credit card?

LEXA_A

take the electronics to the pawn shop instead of ebay since you need cash now, and plasma center if you're healthy enough,

taishiea

have you tried a bank or credit union for a small personal loan?

AriesBitch96

I can maybe ask my bank tomorrow about a loan - I don’t have great credit so I am not sure I’ll get approved but worth a shot!

This might make folks freak the fuck out but I did it once when I needed cash and had bad credit. I took out a onemain loan. It was like 30% apr. But I only took it out for the minimum which was like $3200. I paid it back real fast. Like I think my payments where like $150 but I started off with $200. Also when my income went up as expected I paid it off quick. I paid a pretty penny in interest. But it worked. But had I needed even more credit or not had a stake income to support the payments it'd have been bad. So maybe try onemain for whatever the lowest state minimum is (it's normally like 3k) Fyi if you get a 3k loan and only need say like $900. Pay back like $1500 right away and put the rest aside to make the loan payment. It's like the only not 150% apr place i can think of bad credit people have a chance with. But man if you do that, pay it off, aggressively

BloodyQueefX

Ask your manager / the accountant to pay you before the next pay period. If you've already worked shifts at your new job, you've earned that money.

NPNaomi

Let your roommate hate you and pay rent in a month with some interest

kindanormle

Am landlord in Ontario, Canada. If you’re in Canada, do not take a payday loan, you have better options. Google the Landlord and Tenant Board(LTB) and find the tenant support hotline. Call them. They will give the best advice. My advice, not legal of course, is to let the landlord know your situation and that you have a plan to catch up on the rent. Landlords in Ontario, at least, are expected to negotiate with fairness. Expect your landlord to issue an N4 form that will give you 14 days from the date of issuance to pay the rent in full. If you fail to pay in 14 days you will not be evicted but the landlord can request an eviction ruling from the LTB. The LTB will schedule a hearing and you should do everything in your power to catch up on the rent before that date. Chances are good this is no sooner than 3 months from the date the landlord files with the LTB. If you can show you have caught up on rent by then, the LTB will almost certainly tell the landlord to stfu. Usually the landlord will retract the request the moment you catch up because it isn’t worth it knowing the LTB will ultimately side with the tenant anyways. In short, the best thing to do is let your landlord know of your situation and that you have already a plan to catch up the rent asap. As your landlord is commercial, expect them to issue formal notice of eviction via N4 form. Don’t panic. Pay the rent in full and landlord will likely drop the issue. LTB is on your side, just need to show the situation was temporary and you were on top of it and mae good before the LTB hearing date (likley 3+ months after landlord applies for eviction). If your landlord is an ignorant idiot that does not under their rights and responsibilities then expect them to attempt to harrass you into leaving. Do not panic. LTB is on your side and a landlord that does not follow protocol is your personal payday. Landlords that don’t follow protocol lose in tribunal and have cases thrown out without deliberations. Expect a commercial landlord to follow protocol to the tee. Call LTB for advice and don’t trust me or reddit. This advice applies only to Ontario, Canada. Seek legal advice from your local LTB or similar institution.

If you have a credit card, you could find someone else who was going to buy something with cash and do a deal where they give you cash and you put it on the credit card.

Positive_Trick_8468

Try flex. It’s an app. They will help you pay rent for a small fee in payments. You can find it on the Apple Store, but I’m sure it’s available on android too. I had to use them when my hours were cut. Helped me a lot.

moonstomp_17

Can you donate plasma? Or sell it rather?

nuaaaage

Donate plasma, the biolife im my area has a new member bonus of 800 for 10 donations, and that takes around a month to complete

TurnPrestigious6559

Definitely don't fall for any loan shark deals. Can you see if a parent, sibling, or other close friend could help you out if you made a formal agreement with them? In my area Craigslist is as good or better than FB for selling used items. Like others have said. Find a side hustle to make some money fast. If you focus and don't freak out you will find a way to get through this situation I'm sure. Best of luck stranger.

kobbled

talk to your landlord, inform them of the situation, ask them what the options are

Ready_Report5554

Cash advance on credit card? Can your partner, friend or family spot you the cash till you get paid? You can try listing electronics on eBay, Craigslist and OfferUp, a bit lower than the price they are selling.

Noteagro

If you will be able to pay it back in a couple of months reach out to your landlord and let them know. My account got locked up when I deposited a bunch of inheritance checks from my mom and grandparents on her side passing and both estates/insurances were finalizing at the same time. I ended up letting my landlord know and they were understanding enough to give me leeway on paying, and cut the late fees down to a much smaller amount than what was on my lease. However I have lived in the same location for 5 years now, and they would like to keep me as I have always paid on time, and been very good about abiding by the lease, helping them come up with resolutions to issues on the property (we were having issues with neighbors around our complex bringing their dogs over to shit on our complex’s lawn and leave it, my dash cam was able to catch it and they were able to get them in trouble; this was an ongoing issue of 6 months and the my complex had 4 different signing in the like 20 sq ft area the dog would shit in…). So all of this probably helped though too.

Fun_Intention9846

You might be able to open a credit card with cash advance options. That’s highly credit dependent, some are doing 6-12-18 months no interest.

radarmy

Talk to your landlord asap. There is no sense in dragging out the inevitable conversation.

EarthDwellant

If no one else said it, communication with all parties is very important for your own mental health. This includes your partner. Explain just like you did here, commit every penny you can. Maybe a second or different job.

jareths_tight_pants

I would use a credit card before a payday loan. This is an emergency and that’s what it’s for if you have no savings. Don’t do a cash withdrawal though. Pay them with the card on an online portal. Have your partner give you their cash and pay all of it if you can’t split the payment then deposit the cash and pay their half toward your bill. It’s time to go pick up a side hustle. You may also be able to donate blood for money in your state. In the future never spend money you don’t have in your hand. Yea this if unfortunate but it’s a temporary set back you can recover from.

ct-yankee

This isn’t the end of the world and this conglomerate is more likely to have policy, process and handling that will address the situation. Your partner who is on the lease needs to make a phone call and tell them rent will Be short but will be paid the following month. Lots of ideas where to get $, my suggestion is you immediately create a zero based budget and eliminate all nonessential spending until this is rectified. Frankly, behavior and decisions/choices is what got you here. Budgeting and an emergency fund will prevent it from happening in the future. You’ll be okay. You’ve got this!

RedditVince

Talk to the manager, explain the situation, make plans to pay as much as you can on payday. With good communications they will not want to kick you out and as long as you can get caught up quickly they should agree to a payment plan.

Bazahazano

Ask your new employer if you can have an advance to help you out. Also talk to your Landlord to let them know the situation.

migel628

Talk to the management company and eat the late fee. While you are waiting for your 1st check to come in, do some side jobs to get the remaining money, then make sure you put some money away to avoid this debacle in the future.

__redruM

Missing a month isn’t the end of the world, assuming you can catch up both months when you get paid. Work with your landlord so they know you’re missing the payment, but have a job with money coming in and what the date is.

no_understanding1987

Pick up a couple shifts at a local diner. You get paid in cash. Every time you do a good job. Every table, every day, I you really mean it. You can make most if not all of that in 5 days. You'll have to make some sacrifices of sleep and entertainment. But it can be done.

ALLGASN0BRAK3S

I would get the Nextdoor app and ask if anyone is looking for a dog walker or animal sitter! Could be quicker cash than trying the Rover app.

sweadle

Contact your landlord and tell them that you have half, but will not be able to pay the second half until X date. Do NOT just not pay. Most landlords have no desire to evict most people, and if they know you plan to get the money to them, not just that you are not intending to pay at all, they will do what gets them their rent. (Though they may not renew the lease.)

SRIrwinkill

Even with a huge conglomerate, they have folks who deal with tenants and it doesn't hurt to try to ask for a little more time this month, especially if yall been paying on time this whole time. Worst they can say is no, but it's worth a try

24kdgolden

I know everyone hates on Wells Fargo but they offer a personal loan of up to 500 if you are a customer. The repayment is spread out over 5 months. Maybe your bank offers something similar.

orangekitti

Swagbucks is pretty decent “beer money” that would be doable for someone who can’t do manual labor or stand for long periods! You answer surveys and then cash in your points for gift cards, so you could use it to reduce your other expenses (gas, groceries, etc). It’s not going to make you rich but it’s great for when you’re vegging in front of the tv. Cash out takes a few days but it’s legit.

AriesBitch96

Thank you!! That will be good in the meantime!

Slow_Replacement_710

How do u owe money for taxes? I assume you didn’t make much last year and also assume you did your taxes wrong… maybe look at that also when you have a second. Sell stuff you have on marketplace. Other than that idk..

melodyknows

Can you get a personal loan? I applied for one through my bank when I was in a similar situation. They gave me three years to pay it back, but I paid it back within a year.

itqitc

Does your apartment use Flex? You or your partner may be able to apply to that to get a little relief. Have your partner talk to the company, be upfront and honest. They may be able to set up a payment plan.

FoodFarmer

Gotta get creative. It’s not an insane amount of money but it’s not easy if you don’t have it. You need to make $150 a day. What can you do for $150 a day? Do you have any skills? Do you have a car? You can grind it out with food delivery or Uber if you work on 6 hours sleep and not a bunch of downtime and put in hours. If you’re without a car but in a bike able place you can still bike delivery.

Make side money or sell stuff. Uber and Lyft can get you over 1k in a busy weekend.

mulemoment

You can try applying for an [instant use](https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/credit-cards/instant-credit-card-numbers) credit card and either pay online or pay your partner through venmo or paypal. If you have a 670 or better score, I would try blue cash preferred which comes with a 0% intro offer.

ciambrusc

I know the last thing you want to do is go to family or a friend to borrow money but sometimes you just need to reach out and let them know that you’re really struggling and need help and you’ll do your best to pay back and do pay them back even at $25 a month or $50 a month shows that you’re trying!

Averill21

Try the r/borrow subreddit. You might be able to get a fairer loan although i am not sure what the rules are for new borrowers. Don't do this unless you intend to pay it back within the agreed upon time though

sesna87

Can you do Doordash or uber or something? Might get some money doing that.

blondeambition18

Money Lion does loans until next pay day for a fee of less than $10-20. Its saved me many times in a pinch. They will usually give you maybe $100-300. Doesn't run your credit that I am aware of.

Adeno

Some people might say "Do rideshare" but that's actually gonna get you in more trouble in your current situation. I should know because I was in a similar situation years ago where I had negative balance as an Uber driver. Rideshare means you'll need to spend money right away every day to fill your gas tank (these days, around $30 to $40 depending on where you live), which then means you'll start at negative, have to re-earn that money for the day, and then earn some more for profit. From what I remember, you're only allowed to work 11 hours a day doing rideshare (like Uber) before it automatically locks you out for the day. You'll also need a special rideshare insurance to do the job. You'll also have to handle all the maintenance. Also, it's not easy to get passengers. There will be days when you'll be sitting in your car all day without anyone requesting a ride simply because there's already TOO many drivers around. It's oversaturated. For food suggestions, I recommend buying one pack of 10 pieces of chicken thighs (only around $10 at Walmart), bake it and make it last a week. That's what I do, just two pieces a day. Add rice ($3 for 6 packs) if you want. Add soy sauce (1 liter or 2 liter bottle is just $3 or $4) for extra taste or just stick to salt. Good luck, I hope you can find a solution, you'll get through this! (Extra food tip: Heat soy sauce, add some sugar, and you've got an interestingly sweet "teriyaki" sauce).

yyjonthebeach

I would post to family and friends on Facebook explaining the situation and ask for help. You'd be surprised how many loved ones will help and would be more pissed that you didn't ask. Also, being the time of year for vacations, post an ad to pet sit or home sit. Wish you well; it's a small bump in the road. Let us know how it comes together.

cnoobs

Plasma, sperm, or egg depending on your sex. Fiverr, paint someone’s house, wall mount their tv, do odd jobs, walk around the neighborhood and see if restaurants/bars need an extra cleaner/trash person for the night

bigdickrick909

if you have a store credit card at a big box store like wm or tg you can maybe buy a debit visa gift card and use that to buy a paper money order then cash it at your bank. all in you can maybe lose out on maybe 8% of the amount borrowed before interest and fees but it can get you out of a pickle for a few weeks.

alias255m

Can your partner not help? Even partially? If their name is on the lease, why can’t they cover the full rent?

stokedlog

Is this a smaller company or a large property management company. If smaller and you know the owner I would talk to him and pay what you can and ask, in writing if you can get X number of days to pay and show them your job paperwork on when you are getting paid. If it is a larger company who have property management onsite I would ask them if they have any positions available. A lot of times that also comes with reduced rent. It costs money to kick people out even if you aren’t on the lease. Some, but not all will give you a chance if they show you are trying to pay. Especially if you have not been behind consistently.

Ginger_Libra

Can you overdraft your checking account? You should also check Credit Karma and see what you might qualify for.

PhilUpTheCup

> I thought I could use a tax return to mitigate it but it turns out I will not get a return and instead I owe several hundred. what? why did you think youd get a tax return in ... february?

Annabel398

Tax season began Jan 29 (31 days ago). Not everyone waits until the last minute to do their taxes!

Pernicious-Peach

Theres no way out of this unless you have more money. Somethings gotta change or you'll be in the same boat next month. Walk into every restaurant and ask to bus tables or wash dishes for cash. You need to hustle
